nictrasaviosHello02:25
nictrasaviosCould anyone supply me with a list of packages that are in Ubuntu studio that are NOT in ubuntu (main edition)02:25
ailo_nictrasavios, All of the ubuntustudio packages are in the Ubuntu repo.02:26
nictrasaviosailo_:  i know that....02:32
nictrasaviosI'm asking for a list.02:32
nictrasaviosSomeone must keep track of their differances.....02:32
nictrasaviosand by "not in ubuntu" i dont mean the repos, not like that would matter anyway..... I mean, not preinstalled.02:33
ailo_nictrasavios, You mean a list of packages that come preinstalled in a Ubuntustudio installation, or just ubuntustudio specific packages? Everything starting with ubuntustudio* is UbuntuStudio specific. The multimedia packages, like the audio software and so on just belong to the standard repo.02:35
nictrasaviosWhat i mean is a list of packages that come pre-installed with U.S. That are not pre-installed in the main Distrobution.02:35
nictrasaviosa list a could, preferably, feed into apt-get.02:36
ailo_nictrasavios, If you are looking to install all Ubuntustudio packages, just select everything starting with ubuntustudio*02:37
ailo_That will install everything02:37
nictrasaviosAlright.  Thanks, I can't just install the distro since i need to keep my current install, and since Photoshop fails... hoping to find something other then GIMP that can take its place02:37
nictrasaviosSince GIMP is to Photoshop as Linux 1.0 is to 2.6.3502:38
ailo_nictrasavios, Don't think you'll find anything better then Gimp, though there are other software that do other things better, like Incscape02:38
nictrasaviosYuk, dreamweiver impersonation... and a bad one at that.02:39
nictrasaviosHmm, looking through the "To be installed" List, its all system packages, not things like JACK and the programs included with US02:40
nictrasaviosnvm ahh, its packs of packages :P02:40
ailo_nictrasavios, They are meta-packages that depend on other packages, yes02:41
nictrasaviosill avoid things like defaults... last thing i need is a borked box.02:41
nictrasaviosReason i need this is simple, im Running... er was... Gnacktrack 5, i then installed Linux Mint 10 over it, whiping it out expect for the offensive-security tools, Took all the things that make ubuntu look like ubuntu, logos, images, themes, bootlogo, etc, and added them in... now putting this layer on it.02:43
nictrasaviosIll end up with a Fully featured , Pen-test ready ,  Designer Ready *Buntu :P02:44
nictrasaviosover 50 hours into it, alot of advanced scripting BUT... im doing it :P02:45
nictrasaviosAnyway, thanks, bye :D02:46

holsteindoodie: you want to run cubase in wine?18:24
holsteinon linux?18:24
doodieya18:24
holsteinwhy?18:24
doodieLMMS is very unstable and close automatically18:24
holsteinas a former cubase user, i find ardour 7000% more appropriate18:24

holsteinor whatever18:26
holsteinas whatever format you want18:26
holsteinrosegarden just plays midi data18:26
doodieyes, I did that too at first. But it was rather exhausting18:26
holsteinlike a sequencer18:26
holsteindoodie: yeah?18:27
doodieas for now, LMMS is good, only if it was more stable18:27
holsteini think most folks find it to be quite feature full18:27
holsteinthat workflow18:27
holsteinyou can do more18:27
holsteinfor example18:27
holsteinadding ANY plugin18:27
holsteinat export18:27
holsteinOR triggering other synths18:27
holsteinthe possiblilities are endless18:28
holsteinwith JACK18:28

holsteinabout cubase http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=application&iId=118118:30
holsteinin wine18:30
holsteindoodie: you use ardour to record18:30
holsteinwhatever you route to it18:30
holsteinin JACK18:30
holsteinanything that is JACK capable18:30
holsteinwhich is most everything we have18:30
doodieyea18:30
holsteinsoftsynths that rosegarden or qtractor are triggering18:30
holsteinwhatever18:30
holsteinim not sure about your particular VST's18:31
holsteini had some plugins i really liked18:31
