[02:25] Hello [02:25] Could anyone supply me with a list of packages that are in Ubuntu studio that are NOT in ubuntu (main edition) [02:26] nictrasavios, All of the ubuntustudio packages are in the Ubuntu repo. [02:32] ailo_: i know that.... [02:32] I'm asking for a list. [02:32] Someone must keep track of their differances..... [02:33] and by "not in ubuntu" i dont mean the repos, not like that would matter anyway..... I mean, not preinstalled. [02:35] nictrasavios, You mean a list of packages that come preinstalled in a Ubuntustudio installation, or just ubuntustudio specific packages? Everything starting with ubuntustudio* is UbuntuStudio specific. The multimedia packages, like the audio software and so on just belong to the standard repo. [02:35] What i mean is a list of packages that come pre-installed with U.S. That are not pre-installed in the main Distrobution. [02:36] a list a could, preferably, feed into apt-get. [02:37] nictrasavios, If you are looking to install all Ubuntustudio packages, just select everything starting with ubuntustudio* [02:37] That will install everything [02:37] Alright. Thanks, I can't just install the distro since i need to keep my current install, and since Photoshop fails... hoping to find something other then GIMP that can take its place [02:38] Since GIMP is to Photoshop as Linux 1.0 is to 2.6.35 [02:38] nictrasavios, Don't think you'll find anything better then Gimp, though there are other software that do other things better, like Incscape [02:39] Yuk, dreamweiver impersonation... and a bad one at that. [02:40] Hmm, looking through the "To be installed" List, its all system packages, not things like JACK and the programs included with US [02:40] nvm ahh, its packs of packages :P [02:41] nictrasavios, They are meta-packages that depend on other packages, yes [02:41] ill avoid things like defaults... last thing i need is a borked box. [02:43] Reason i need this is simple, im Running... er was... Gnacktrack 5, i then installed Linux Mint 10 over it, whiping it out expect for the offensive-security tools, Took all the things that make ubuntu look like ubuntu, logos, images, themes, bootlogo, etc, and added them in... now putting this layer on it. [02:44] Ill end up with a Fully featured , Pen-test ready , Designer Ready *Buntu :P [02:45] over 50 hours into it, alot of advanced scripting BUT... im doing it :P [02:46] Anyway, thanks, bye :D === frederickjh is now known as frederickjh_away [18:21] how do I get wineasio in my repos? [18:21] hey doodie [18:21] hi holstein [18:22] I was running Cubase, but it doesnot detect Alsa, but only ASIO. I heard about wineASIO [18:23] i would keep an eye on this [18:23] https://launchpad.net/~zippidi/+archive/wineasio-stable [18:24] doodie: you want to run cubase in wine? [18:24] on linux? [18:24] ya [18:24] why? [18:24] LMMS is very unstable and close automatically [18:24] as a former cubase user, i find ardour 7000% more appropriate [18:25] in every way [18:25] ok [18:25] doodie: qtractor? [18:25] i mean, do what you want [18:25] but Ardour doesnot support MIDI ?? does it?? [18:25] right [18:25] but JACK does it all [18:25] you can do MIDI in whatever [18:25] and use ardour too [18:25] at the same time [18:25] qtractor [18:25] rosegarden [18:25] those are the usually tools [18:26] ardour will have midi support soon [18:26] this year i say [18:26] 3.x will be out [18:26] but rosegarden doesnot save in wav or mp3 [18:26] doodie: ? [18:26] you record it [18:26] in ardour [18:26] or whatever [18:26] as whatever format you want [18:26] rosegarden just plays midi data [18:26] yes, I did that too at first. But it was rather exhausting [18:26] like a sequencer [18:27] doodie: yeah? [18:27] as for now, LMMS is good, only if it was more stable [18:27] i think most folks find it to be quite feature full [18:27] that workflow [18:27] you can do more [18:27] for example [18:27] adding ANY plugin [18:27] at export [18:27] OR triggering other synths [18:28] the possiblilities are endless [18:28] with JACK [18:28] i heard LMMS was stable now [18:28] may be I load heavy VSTs on lmms?? [18:29] so, i use ardour to record my midi's(VSTs)?? [18:30] about cubase http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=application&iId=1181 [18:30] in wine [18:30] doodie: you use ardour to record [18:30] whatever you route to it [18:30] in JACK [18:30] anything that is JACK capable [18:30] which is most everything we have [18:30] yea [18:30] softsynths that rosegarden or qtractor are triggering [18:30] whatever [18:31] im not sure about your particular VST's [18:31] i had some plugins i really liked [18:31] in xp with cubase [18:31] i let them go when i came to linux [18:31] and ive been very pleased with the results [21:35] hi [21:35] is someone there? [21:36] satellite: I am. sup? [21:36] what program can i use to look for more operative sistems installed in my lap? [21:37] satellite: I don't understand. [21:37] i install the update to .35.25 from .35.22 and clear mi list of operative sistems like windows and other distros of linux installed in my computer [21:38] how can i try to list them on grub [21:38] ? [21:38] satellite, ok. Try: sudo update-grub [21:39] and then restart? [21:40] satellite, Yeah. Try that [21:40] or how can i see if there are listed with out restart? [21:41] Generating grub.cfg ...
