[18:23] could smb help me with this, please [18:24] that happens when you plug it out and back in? [18:24] yes [18:26] I followed the instructions from here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4FsW5W046-I [21:32] I've googled around and found (seemingly) contradictory answers to the question: "How do I edit the menus in xfce"...can some one point me towards a definitive URL? [21:33] from the config files or edit .desktop entries [21:33] i try get the url.. [21:34] 1. [for 4.6] copy '/etc/xdg/menus/xfce-applications.menu to '~/.config/xdg/menus' and customize it. [21:34] 2. [for 4.6] You can also create desktop entries in '~/.local/share/applications' to override the existing applications (change or hide) or add new ones. [21:34] 3. http://wiki.xfce.org/howto/customize-menu [21:34] I guess I should say I've upgraded to 4.8.0 (in 10.10), if that makes a difference? [21:35] yes it makes a difference [21:35] :) [21:35] use alacarte [21:36] I found that, but was wondering if it was "kosher". I'll grab it and try it out thanks. [21:37] any freedesktop.org compatible editor will work for Xfce 4.8 [21:40] I take it the "Main Menu" undr the Appplications>Settings menu is the entry for alacarte (don't remember it from before)? [21:40] no idea, I haven't used it [21:44] thanks [22:08] Well, that was interesting...installed alacarte (in xfce 4.8.0, 10.10)...unclicked some things in the menu(s) that I didn't care about, and lo and behold they showed up in "Other" (which wasn't there before). Checked in Main Menu to unclick Other and it won't let me unclick Other (shows it NOT clicked/showing). Any ideas where I can go from here [22:11] right now... i am running windows xp on vbox..... it crashed xD .... buawhauwha [22:13] yup [22:13] have to wait for natty maybe. [22:14] no... vbox didn't crash... only windows.... but not anymore... just.... some windows stuff problem... [22:14] i had... a problem... couldn't even boot into Safe Mode... so this time, I have put it in vbox... not dual boot... and... its simply great :p [22:16] maybe I over reacted... but, it feels simply great that they can't mess up things anymore... so badly [22:16] The advantage of VirtualBox, you can just delete the machine and rebuild it quickly [22:58] takes too long to install [22:59] is this room gay? [22:59] Did you need something, xubuntu716? [22:59] no === Daviey_ is now known as Daviey === pleia2_ is now known as pleia2 [23:18] Hey guys [23:19] Ok, so I finally got xubuntu installed on my laptop...
