monish001Hello. I just tried to installed gmail voice/video plugin. The result is- The package is of bad quality03:17
monish001how come i report this bug?03:17
penalvchPlease mark bug 656575 wishlist03:32
ubot4Launchpad bug 656575 in openoffice.org (Ubuntu) (and 2 other projects) "Calc err502=sqrt(-1) (affects: 1) (heat: 8)" [Undecided,New] https://launchpad.net/bugs/65657503:32

micahgRedSingularity: you should *never* tell people to remove their profile folders05:20
RedSingularitymicahg: even if they back up like he did?05:22
ddecatorRedSingularity: we always tell them to make a new profile using the profile manager so they can leave the old profile untouched and test with a fresh profile (assuming this is firefox related)05:24
ddecatorask them*05:24
micahgRedSingularity: ah, ok, in that case, it's not so bad, I usually suggest creating a new profile05:25
RedSingularityddecator: thunderbird....but ok.  Will remember in the future05:25
micahgddecator: RedSingularity thunderbird also has a profile manager, it's just not as obvious05:25
RedSingularitymicahg: yeah i had him backup but if its bad practice I will refrain from it in the future :)05:25
ddecatorRedSingularity: just helps prevent accidents :)05:26
* micahg gets scared when he sees stuff like that05:26
micahgRedSingularity: the other problem is people might come along and only read part of the bug report and try what you suggested w/out backing up05:26
RedSingularitymicahg: That wasnt the issue anyway it seems.  You had suggested a video card problem?05:27
micahgRedSingularity: actually, I forgot it's natty, I blame compiz :)05:27
RedSingularitymicahg: for the scrambled text?05:27
micahgRedSingularity: but it would probably be best to show it to the compiz guys and see if they think it's caused by compiz, otherwise, I'll show it to the X guys05:28
RedSingularitymicahg: how do you suggest I show it to them?  Just email them?05:28
micahgthe intel drivers are usually pretty stable, actually I think there was just an update for an intel tearing issue05:29
micahgRedSingularity: there was an intel driver update last night, i'm curious if that will fix it05:29
RedSingularitymicahg: why would the issue only effect thunderbird tho?05:30
micahgpossibly, thunderbird might be executing something other apps don't05:30
RedSingularitymicahg: hmmm...to test compiz, I can ask him to use metacity temporarily...05:32
micahgRedSingularity: that's an idea :)05:32
RedSingularitymicahg: ok if that doesnt work do you want to show the x team?05:33
micahgRedSingularity: yep05:33
RedSingularityok05:33
palhmbshow long would one wait for xul-runner to install via synaptic07:41
palhmbshow can I detect whether it's failing?07:41

om26erseb128, before the next nautilus upload please merge this too https://code.launchpad.net/~om26er/ubuntu/natty/nautilus/nautilus-fix-649993/+merge/51497 builds and works fine.09:02
seb128om26er, ok, can you ask for ubuntu-sponsors review so it's listed on the sponsoring queue?09:03
seb128this way it doesn't slip through09:03
om26eri thought ~desktop-team was different, i'll subscribe sponsors09:04
seb128om26er, no it's not ;-)09:05
seb128well you get extra people who can do review and merges09:06
seb128but it doesn't hurt to have those in the normal sponsoring queue as well09:06
seb128it means the patch pilot of the day will see it09:06
seb128which might be faster than waiting on desktopers09:06

nemoHey guys. There are a couple of bugs I think are dupes.15:14
nemoSomeone here feel like duping 'em for me? Just in interest of tidiness?15:14
nemoI tried notifying authors but no one answered...15:14
dholbachhttps://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuDeveloperWeek Day 4 starting in 25 minutes in #ubuntu-classroom15:36
seb128nemo, just mention those on the channel15:38

m4gnusSo i want to help out with triage...17:22
m4gnusproblem is i have NO idea where to begin.17:22
m4gnuscan someone point me in the right direction please?17:22
camelinahatm4gnus: I'm in much the same situation. While waiting to see if I can get hooked up with a mentor, I've been reading: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/BugSquad/KnowledgeBase17:28
m4gnuscamelinahat: thank you!17:28
camelinahatm4gnus: And check out this if you're looking to get paired with a mentor: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/BugSquad/Mentors17:29
m4gnusok cool thanks again17:29

seb128bdmurray: hi17:46
bdmurrayseb128: hello17:46
seb128bdmurray: do you know if there was some discussion about close old crash bugs from launchpad17:46
seb128like the ones for releases which are not supported anymore if they never got a comment17:46
m4gnusbdmurray: just wanted to get some literature to know where to begin...currently reading through the info that camelinahat sent me. thank you.17:47
seb128or if they didn't get a duplicate or a comment for over a year17:47
seb128bdmurray: "if there ever was some discussion" rather17:47
seb128bdmurray: seems we stack old crash bugs which happened once to one users and where retracing failed etc17:47
=== nixternal_ is now known as nixternal
bdmurrayseb128: nothing is immediately coming to mind.17:48
seb128do you think it would be something easy to script and useful to do?17:48
seb128should I email the list to start a discussion about it?17:48
bdmurrayseb128: yes, yes and no.  Personally, I don't think I could commit to it until O.17:49
seb128bdmurray: was the "no" for the email to the list?17:50
seb128why "no"? it was just to see what other bugsquaders thing about it17:51
bdmurrayseb128: okay, I'm just not sure what would come of it.17:51
seb128bdmurray: I was not especially asking you to do it and there is no hurry either17:52
bdmurrayseb128: Okay, I didn't think you were - just thought I'm the one most likely to do it.17:52
seb128you think it's not controversial, it's just a matter of having someone writting the script and do it?17:53
camelinahatbdmurray: No questions exactly, just being new to the process just a bit nervous about making any changes/package assignments etc without some guidance initially. Don't want to approach things incorrectly and end up making more work for others17:54
bdmurrayseb128: Right, I don't think its controversial because technically those bugs (or a subset of those) are or should be incomplete.  For example if they are tagged apport-retrace failed they should be automatically set to Incomplete and then they'll be eligible for expiration and auto expiration.  Here we are just doing what should have been done.17:54
=== Abhijit_ is now known as Abhijit
bdmurraycamelinahat, m4gnus: I suggest looking at bugs about a package you care about / use.  Then pick one that looks interesting and ask for help here.17:55
seb128bdmurray: ok thanks, I might have a go at writting the script then, I will bring back the topic at UDS if it doesn't happen before that17:55
bdmurrayseb128: In the same vein we recently stopped reporting most nspluginwrapper bugs in natty too and those also could be closed.17:56
seb128oh, yeah, there is a stack of those on launchpad still private17:57
seb128I wanted to ping chrisccoulson about that17:57
seb128it's like the component getting the most apport crashes17:57
chrisccoulsoni just want it to die17:58
chrisccoulsonplease :)17:58
micahgit was blacklisted already I think17:58
bdmurraybug 71746817:58
ubot4Launchpad bug 717468 in apport (Ubuntu Natty) (and 1 other project) "apport should not offer to report npviewer.bin crashes (affects: 1) (heat: 198)" [High,Fix released] https://launchpad.net/bugs/71746817:58

seb128lol18:00
seb128that's the spirit!18:00
chrisccoulsonseriously though, we're just waiting for 64-bit flash18:00
chrisccoulsonnspluginwrapper is totally dead, and has been for a long time18:00
chrisccoulsonit's certainly not something i plan to spend any time on ;)18:00
micahgchrisccoulson: I have on my list to look at the merge proposal for 1.3.018:01
chrisccoulsonjust do it ;)18:01
chrisccoulsonit's not going to be any worse than what we have now18:01
ari-tczewmicahg: merge with Debian?18:01
micahgari-tczew: yeah, someone started it about 18 months ago18:01
micahgchrisccoulson: it fails to build an needs work, that's why it didn't get into maverick :)18:01
chrisccoulsonah18:02
micahgand I'd actually rather spend time porting other things to xul 2.0 then nspluginwrapper18:02
chrisccoulsonari-tczew, there you go, you could maybe look at that ;)18:02
chrisccoulsonis nspluginwrapper using xpcom at all, or is it pure NPAPI?18:03
chrisccoulsonif it's not the latter, then it probably should get blacklisted for IPC18:03
micahgchrisccoulson: seems like none of the above18:06
chrisccoulsonheh18:07
BUGabundoits all your fault chrisccoulson18:09
BUGabundo:)18:09
chrisccoulsonit's always my fault18:10
chrisccoulsonthat's just a fact of life ;)18:10
bdmurraym4gnus and camelinahat: For example I really like gpsprune and use it a lot so would look for bugs about it since I am familiar with the software and can recreate them.  Also because I'd like it to be better.18:11
