charlie-tcaWhen I upgrade, only the installed stuff upgrades, and the sometimes the new stuff gets added, but not the old stuff I removed01:24
surreal7zok01:24
surreal7zthx! :)01:24
charlie-tcaYou are welcome01:24
skxxso i'm running xubuntu 10.10 and i'm trying to get this printer installed.. it's an hp deskjet 1000.  i went to system -> printing and added a new printer.   it apparently recognized everything alright, and the system sees the printer01:28
skxxbut nothing is showing up in the print queue and the jobs are just stacking up.01:28
skxxand the printer is just sitting there on it's lazy ass.01:29
skxxany ideas, folks?01:29
charlie-tcaturned the printer on?01:29
skxxhaha yeah it's on01:29
skxxthe system sees it and all01:29
charlie-tcaTry going into printer properties and printing a test page01:30
charlie-tcamine gave me an error until I got everything right01:30
skxxi did that before i came here, i'm not getting any errors but it keeps telling me that it's stacking up jobs01:31
skxxbut nothing is showing up in the print queue01:32
skxxlike, i click "print test page" and it says... printing test page as job 1.  then i click clean print heads and it's says "cleaning print heads as job 2"01:32
skxxbrb gonna reboot and hope that fixes everything.01:33
skxx:p01:34
skxxso... no luck.01:37
josh1how can I make my sd memory card automount on boot without messing with fstab?03:26
josh1The card holds my music and I would like it automounted  so I don't have to re-add the music everytime the mount point changes03:27
josh1anybody here?03:29
noaXessa cusomter of mine has this problem: if he plugin a usb stick, the stick will be automounted as root... so the user has no access to the usb drive..09:29
Sysiwhat FS?09:29
noaXessSysi: in USB.. wait.09:30
noaXessvfat09:30
Sysiwhat line "mount" gives for it? (for me rw,nosuid,nodev,uhelper=udisks,uid=1000,gid=1000,shortname=mixed,dmask=0077,utf8=1,flush)09:32
noaXessSysi: give mi a minute.. need to instal openssh-server..09:34
noaXessSysi: /dev/sdb1 on /media/usb0 type vfat (rw,noexec,nodev,sync,noatime,nodiratime)09:35
noaXesshm.. something wrong i think09:36
noaXessSysi: i found a udev rules: 40-usbmount which points to /usr/share/usbmount/usbmount which needs the config file /etc/usbmount/usbmount.cfg.. and in this file i see: MOUNTOPTIONS="sync,noexec,nodev,noatime,nodiratime"09:40
Sysii think rw,uid=1000,gid=1000 are needed09:40
noaXessSysi: this files are from the usbmount package.. do you have this installed?09:41
Sysino09:41

johnny_XWhat's the best Ristretto replacement app for Xubuntu 10.04?18:48
charlie-tcaWe still use ristretto in Natty, I don't know that there is "best replacement" for it.18:50
TheSheepcharlie-tca: I like comix, but I have a specific use case for it18:51
johnny_XI see...  I find Ristretto very buggy to use as a daily "heavy use" app!18:51
charlie-tcaI would suggest trying other applications, to see what works best for you.18:53
johnny_XWell, I'm thinking about eye of gnome, but I'm not sure it will work well on Xfce or not?!18:54
TheSheepall applications will work, some will just pull in extra dependencies18:56
johnny_XI see!  Ok, I'll try that app...  I would still need to know any other photo apps that works  as well! :-)18:58
TheSheepjohnny_X: you can do a search in the package manager18:58
johnny_Xok...18:59
ochosijohnny_X: i use geeqie19:00
johnny_XI needed user info for the particular photo apps that works best!! :-)19:00
johnny_XGeegie, ok, any good?19:00
ochosiyeah, i like it a lot19:00
ochosiit's a fork of gqview if you know that one19:00
johnny_XI see, GQview's for the KDE isn't it?19:01
johnny_XAnyways, that will get me started...  Thanks all for info & all! :-)19:02
