[10:45] Anyone about? [10:47] Hello Shrike [10:47] Well. Was just wondering about Ubuntu Studio + DJ software, if there is something you guys could recommend? [10:47] Oh, hi [10:48] I'm in need of something basic to do mixes with, nothing fancy [10:48] Shrike: Mixxx: http://www.mixxx.org/ maybe? [10:49] Oh yeah, I've been through those, so I'm not looking for "just something". MOre like a recommendation, which of them would be best suited for my needs ;) [10:50] Mixx is one, yes. UltraMixer is another. [10:51] Ok, then I'll word it differently ;) [10:51] Any regulars on this channel, who might do DJing and would have some insights? [10:51] I'd recommend Mixxx [10:51] :D [10:51] Thanks [10:51] And I do DJ'ing [10:51] rgr [10:52] I'm thinking of setting up a USB-bootable with, now I guess Mixxx, which I could try out and see which of my older laptops it would work best with [10:53] Ouch, that could be a problem..... [10:53] how so? [10:53] Mixxx heavily relies on OpenGL [10:53] For displaying the waveforms [10:53] dang [10:53] Well, I guess I could do that on my desktops as well [10:53] So you need a GPU + driver that supports that [10:53] yeah [10:54] I have an old notebook with which I do my DJ'ing stuff [10:54] Nut Mixxx doesn't run on it [10:54] ^^But [10:54] What do you run on it? [10:54] Well, because of that it is the only Windows install left in our household [10:54] Abd I use Traktor [10:54] ^^And [10:55] Hmmm [10:55] If Mixxx would run on it I would've make the switch and ditch Traktor [10:56] Allright [10:57] thanks for the tips [10:57] NP [11:41] is there any standalone lv2-host like jack-rack for ladspa? [11:42] Yes [11:42] Zynjacku [11:42] and LV2-Rack [11:42] Zynjacku for LV2 softsynths [11:42] And LV2Rack for effect plug-ins [11:43] thanks [11:43] They're not in the default repositories [11:43] Hi all! [11:43] Can anybody help me to get back ALSA working in maverick? [11:43] ~$ alsamixer [11:43] ALSA lib ctl_oss.c:398:(_snd_ctl_oss_open) Cannot open device /dev/mixer [11:43] So you have to get then from a PPA or an external repo [11:44] I tryed to get oss emulation with no luck. And now can't get back alsa... [11:47] rusk: Did you uninstall the ALSA OSS compatibility stuff? [11:47] (except for oss-compat) [11:48] alsa-oss uninstalled [11:51] oss-compat uninstalled [11:52] Hmmmm, what does ls -al /dev/mixer output? [11:54] 2 lines. [11:55] \/dev/mixerls: No such file or directory [11:55] \/dev/mixerls: No such file or directory [11:56] So there's no /dev/mixer ? [11:56] \/dev/mixerls: No such file or directory [11:56] \/dev/mixer: No such file or directory [11:56] Try sudo alsa force-reload in a terminal [11:57] sudo alsa force-reload [11:57] That should recreate the mixer node [11:57] tried many times after every change [11:58] lsof: WARNING: can't stat() fuse.gvfs-fuse-daemon file system /home/test/.gvfs [11:58] Output information may be incomplete. [11:59] Looks ok [11:59] If I do a ls /dev/mixer afterwards the mixer node has been recreated [12:00] What if you try with another user account? [12:01] the same output under root. [12:03] That was to be expected if the mixer node doesn't exist [12:04] :( [12:05] i reinstalled completely alsa couple times. I don't want to compile, I know that all stuff worked, but unfortunately I have no backups... [12:07] How did you reinstall ALSA? [12:08] It might help to reinstall your whole kernel image [12:09] i reinstalled alsa together with kernel [12:10] yesterday. [12:10] Weird stuff. Maybe you could check for any asound.state file in /etc or .asound.conf files in your home directopry? === frederickjh is now known as frederickjh_away [16:52] hi, can someone help me with my UM-1G usb midi interface, please?
