ubot2Launchpad bug 726740 in ubiquity "Manual Partition in Ubiquity difficult to use due to Boot Loader text" [Undecided,Confirmed]07:28
iktany chance that will be fixed?07:29
cjwatsonwow, that's pretty bad, yes, we need to fix that10:25
cjwatsonI think it's accidental, not a design decision or anything10:25
cjwatsonmilestoned for beta-110:26
evindeed, that one has been on my radar via other bugs10:31

cjwatsonev: oh, have you pushed a new wubi build?14:47
* cjwatson wants to find out whether it works OOTB now14:48

kirklandcjwatson: if you have color/palette suggestions, talk to marcus, as he's been fiddling with them a little14:51
kirklandcjwatson: he's given me a new grey, which is slightly darker, so that white-on-gray works better14:51
cjwatsonmy colour tastes are rarely in line with anyone else's. :-)14:53
cjwatsonev: ta14:53
evsure thing14:54
kirklandcjwatson: well then, it's all configurable now :-)14:58
kirklandcjwatson: speaking of, would you like to give the newt-configuration patch a review?  I got kees to review it before I uploaded14:58
ograchoot: command not found14:58
kirklandcjwatson: i'm going to send it upstream for their comments presently14:58
ograkirkland, instead of adding colors to the shell, add intelligence to fiy my typos :P14:58
ogra*fix even :P14:59
kirklandogra: heh, sure, i'll get on it14:59
cjwatsonkirkland: I don't see any obvious problems, but I don't have time to think about it much15:01
kirklandcjwatson: okay, that's good enough for now15:01
CIA-31ubiquity: evand * r4585 ubiquity/ (debian/changelog scripts/plugininstall.py): * Mount /proc and friends for apt-clone.16:23
cjwatsonI'm getting increasingly tempted to convert all the temporary-mount stuff in the installer to use grub-fstest instead (with a fallback to temporary mounts for architectures where GRUB doesn't work yet)18:07
cjwatsonTemporary mounts in Linux are just too fragile, even with blockdev --setro18:07
davmor2ev, cjwatson: I just tried an install of the current iso for natty on an nvidia box and the installer crashed, I'll grab the info as soon as I have time but thought I'd let you know in the meantime18:48
evawesome18:49
evplease file a bug and assign it to me18:49
superm1ev, would it be possible to instead turn on partner and pull flash from there rather than using flashplugin-installer when 3rd party sources is checked?  it seems like it would be more failproof18:55
evwe'd have to move flashplugin-installer out of ubuntu-restricted-addons and into ubuntu-restricted-extras (or is it vice-versa?) as well, but that's easy18:56
evI'm not sure why we don't just turn on partner by default though18:56
evcjwatson?18:56
superm1well or make in ubuntu-restricted-addons resolve adobe-flashplugin | flashplugin-installer or so18:59
davmor2man they removed w3m from the install how you meant to report bugs with no gui, D'oh!18:59
evah, good call19:00
davmor2ev: bug 739632 which looks to be a dupe of another one but I've left it separate on the off chance that it isn't.19:04
evI see no such bug19:07
davmor2ev: I'd love to assign it to you but ev is too short evand and evan dandrea don't seem to exist19:08

ubot2Launchpad bug 739632 in ubiquity "ubiquity-dm crashed with ValueError in command(): invalid literal for int() with base 10: ''" [Undecided,New]19:10
davmor2ev: I've made it public too19:10
cody-somervillecjwatson, ev: Did something change? Are users not a part of a group with the same name as their username anymore but instead a 'users' group?19:12
cody-somerville(on fresh installs)19:12
evdavmor2: ah, that's probably why I didn't see it19:13
evcody-somerville: not to my knowledge...19:13
cody-somervilleI'm doing an install of Maverick now but our new PM manager who just recently installed 10.10 ran into a problem when using bzr for the first time (Unable to copy ownership from '/home/jagosta' to '/home/jagosta/.bazaar': IOError: [Errno 1] Operation not permitted: '/home/jagosta/.bazaar'.). Looking, his home directory is owned by jagosta:jagosta but files he creates are owned by jagosta:users and he isn't a member of jago19:15
cody-somervillesta but is a member of users: https://pastebin.canonical.com/44973/19:15
cody-somervillehmm.. in my vm install I don't have this problem... but I know our new PM manager isn't the first to run into this issue, see LP #66167819:20
ubot2Launchpad bug 661678 in bzr "bzr whoami: unable to copy ownership from '$HOME/.bazaar' to '$HOME/.bazaar/bazaar.conf'" [Undecided,Confirmed] https://launchpad.net/bugs/66167819:20
CIA-31ubiquity: evand * r4586 ubiquity/ (debian/changelog scripts/plugininstall.py): * Use the noninteractive debconf frontend when calling apt-clone.19:29
cjwatsonev: general reluctance to abuse Canonical's position, I think19:37
cjwatsonturning it on when third-party sources are selected seems reasonable though19:37
cjwatsoncody-somerville: I'm not aware of any changes along those lines either; per-user groups are absolutely the right thing19:38
CarlFKI have these lines in my preseed, but I don't see any trace in /etc/apt  http://dpaste.de/OmpO/  d-i apt-setup/local0/repository string http://ddebs.ubuntu.com natty main restricted universe multiverse20:16
kirklandcjwatson: interestingly, the desktop ISO has a high contrast option;  just need to get that added to the Server20:21
cjwatsonyes, the choices are CD-type-specific20:23
cjwatsonbut as I say it needs a bit of care to get the command line right20:23
cody-somervillecjwatson, I'm quite confused then. There must be some sort of scenario that results in a20:23
cody-somerville'users' group instead of a per-user group or something.20:23
cjwatsonUSERGROUPS=no in /etc/adduser.conf - but the installer never sets that20:24
cjwatsonand the default for that has been yes forever, AFAIK20:25
cody-somervillecjwatson, https://pastebin.canonical.com/44982/20:31
=== ogra is now known as Guest27445
cjwatsoncody-somerville: well, I have no idea then, sorry21:55
cjwatsoncody-somerville: I've never seen this problem before21:55
cody-somervillecjwatson, Its happened to at least two different people. I see John in person next week so will try and determine if he did anything weird during install.21:56
cjwatsonI understand, but I know of no installer code that could possibly do it ...21:56
evugh, dear partman, why are you asking for a partition off an automatic partitioning recipe22:09
evphrased another way, what did I forget to do ;)22:09
evah ha!22:17
evpartman-rebuild-cache22:17
ev(15reuse calls update_partition)22:17
CIA-31ubiquity: evand * r4587 ubiquity/ (5 files in 3 dirs): * apt-clone is now a separate package.23:22
evbum, I think this is going to require set -x'ing base.sh to properly understand why seting partman-rebuild-cache is causing the choose_partition question to be asked23:51
evwell, that and diff23:51
