chrisccoulsonphsi, that's bug 73764107:04
ubot2Launchpad bug 737641 in make-dfsg "Mozilla packages don't build in Natty (and blocking FF4.0 RC2/final)" [Critical,Fix released] https://launchpad.net/bugs/73764107:04

ubot2gnomefreak: Error: Error getting Mozilla bug #642395: NotPermitted08:25
gnomefreakanyone know why i cant access that bug report?08:25
chrisccoulsongnomefreak, because it's security related, most likely08:37
chrisccoulsoni can't access them either08:37
gnomefreakk thanks08:37
gnomefreakok thanks i let elky know08:39
gnomefreakchrisccoulson: if it was you that fixed prefered apps menu to include tb3.3 but it still is lacking 3.1 i dont think we packaged 3.208:46
chrisccoulsongnomefreak, yeah. there is a merge request to fix 3.1, but the merge is wrong (and there are bigger issues with 3.1 in natty)08:47
gnomefreakchrisccoulson: ah ok thanks08:48

chrisccoulsonheh15:25
chrisccoulsonwe really need something like this: http://glow.mozilla.org/ :-)15:27
msucanso fx4 is now building? :) is it going to be in french as well? in the ppa15:32
=== m_conley_away is now known as m_conley
chrisccoulsonmsucan, you'll need the fr xpi to get french15:44
msucanchrisccoulson: is it going to be pushed as a package in the ppa?15:45
chrisccoulsonmsucan, yes15:45
msucanoky, thanks15:45
msucani want to upgrade my ubuntu 10.04 lts to firefox 4 ... from 3.6, and i have my system in french15:46
msucanworking with custom builds is not ideal :). i prefer a nice ppa15:46
msucanwill the ppa provide security updates as well?15:46
chrisccoulsonyeah, you'll need to get the french language pack from ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/4.0/linux-i686/xpi/15:48
chrisccoulsonthere's not really any other way to do that, because we bundle the 3.6 translations in our language packs15:48
chrisccoulsonand those won't work in 4.015:48
msucanit would be nice if the language packs could be updated somehow15:49
chrisccoulsonyeah, that's impossible at the moment though, unless we ship full language packs in the PPA15:49
chrisccoulsonand i don't want to go there ;)15:50
wernickeIs firefox4.0 still at rc1 in the PPA?15:52
msucanchrisccoulson: hehe, right. i'll just install the xpi ;)15:53
chrisccoulsonmsucan, in future, this PPA will probably go away and we will push straight to the archive15:59
chrisccoulson(with proper language packs)15:59
msucanthat would be great. for the LTS you mean?15:59
chrisccoulsonyeah15:59
ftadpm, done, thanks. but i'm not sure if it's about upstream or packaging16:18
ftarickspencer3, pff, not fair, no congrats for chromium 5/6/7/8/9/10 ;)16:19
dpmfta, I read it as a feature request for having back those coloured stats in an upstream project in LP (not in Ubuntu source packages)16:19
ftadpm, i read it as a bug complaint about a useful feature dropped (with which i 1000% agree)16:20
dpmfta, heh, yeah, interpretations might vary. In any case, I'd like to have them back as well ;)16:22
chrisccoulsonfta - i guess there will be less excitement about firefox releases when we get 5/6/7/8 all in the same year ;)16:23
ftachrisccoulson, i feel it's more about main+default = great vs universe+opt-in = worthless :(16:25
ftahm, wth? debconf turned pink ??!16:26
chrisccoulsonfta - are you able to run chromium in strace? it just hangs here16:28
ftatry without the sandbox16:28
chrisccoulsonfta - how do i do that?16:28
fta--disable-sandbox16:28
chrisccoulsonfta - cool, thanks16:28
chrisccoulsonhmm, it still hangs :(16:29
ftahm16:29

ftait should be possible, most devs even valgring it16:31
ftaincl the buildbots16:31
ftavalgrind16:31
chrisccoulsonheh, valgrind is pretty crazy ;)16:32
ftaspeaking of valgrind, i have to valgrind my own projects, 2 nasty crashers to catch16:32
ftachrisccoulson, why do you need to strace ch?17:04
msucanupdated to firefox 4. thanks chris for the quick release of the fx4 ppa builds for ubuntu!17:32

jcastronice work chrisccoulson17:44
jcastrofta: you too every 6 weeks. :)17:44
lderhi.  anybody know why the ubuntu-mozilla-daily ppa is on b13?   is it pulling from http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/nightly/latest-trunk/ ?17:50
ftaag17:53
lderi think the pointer may need to be redirect to somewhere in the http://releases.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/ branch17:54
ftalder, no, we always build from source17:58
lderfta: ah.  any idea why there is no source since b13?17:59
m_conleychrisccoulson: thanks for ff4! :D18:02
chrisccoulsonm_conley, you probably shouldn't thank me, i just uploaded it ;)18:03
m_conley:D18:03
chrisccoulsonlder, the version hasn't been bumped on mozilla-central yet18:03
lderi guess i should be using the firefox-stable ppa instead?18:08

smallfoot-will ff4 be in maverick 10.10 official repo?18:12
smallfoot-i know its in ppa18:13
wernickewhy does firefox-4.0 for lucid install globalmenu?18:15
ftajdstrand, PIE? http://launchpadlibrarian.net/66991055/buildlog_ubuntu-natty-amd64.chromium-browser_11.0.696.16~r78799-0ubuntu1~ucd~dev1_FAILEDTOBUILD.txt.gz18:17
ftai wonder why it's only in -dev, but not in trunk18:18
chrisccoulsonwernicke, it's an empty package on lucid18:25
chrisccoulsonsmallfoot-, no, but maverick will get a future firefox version18:25
chrisccoulson(probably 5)18:26
wernickeahh, ok. thanks for uploading18:26
micahgfta: so, this is only in the dev channel?18:26
smallfoot-why does firefox copy everything chrome does?18:27
smallfoot-the interface, now the version numbering with 4,5,6,7,8 in some months18:27
micahgfta: multiarch :)18:30
chrisccoulsonsmallfoot-, what's the issue with copying good design decisions?18:30
chrisccoulsonor should developers never reuse the work of someone else?18:31
ftamicahg, hm.. so trunk will fail tomorrow then18:36
micahgfta: most probably18:37
ftaok, only natty/amd64 failed18:38
micahgright, which makes sense18:40
ftagrrr, i don't have time for this18:40
micahgfta: I'll mention it to slangasek in #ubuntu-devel18:44
ftaok, thanks18:44
smallfoot-chrisccoulson, yes its good do stuff like implement WebGL, HTML518:55
smallfoot-but when they adopt same version numbering (thats not a design decision) it seems it going too far18:55
Milos_SDHi19:07
Milos_SDWill Firefox 4 final be in daily repo?19:07
smallfoot-i think not19:07
smallfoot-it seems it will be in 11.04 natty19:07
smallfoot-and maybe backported to 10.10 later, in long time19:08
Milos_SDso, for final version, I need to use firefox stable ppa?19:09
smallfoot-yes, i think so19:09
Milos_SDthis su**s .... It took my old Firefox 3.6 profile, and not Minefield 4 profile :(19:27
Milos_SDI'll stay on Minefield... :)19:27
micahgMilos_SD: which version from where?19:28
chrisccoulsonMilos_SD, it should have prompted you ;)19:28
chrisccoulson(it worked here)19:28
Milos_SDchrisccoulson, it didn't :(19:28
Milos_SDmicahg, Firefox 4 final from firefox stable ppa19:28
Milos_SDit upgraded Firefox 3.6, and not Firefox 4 b13pre from daily ppa19:29

cinchthanks for the 4.0 ppa! i was having ugly fonts with the mozilla.com build and submitted a bug report (https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=643884), which seems resolved with the ppa version. fonts look good again, cheers22:37

Dimmuxxwhy is the firefox-stable build still branded as mozilla developer preview?22:57
micahgchrisccoulson: ^^23:03
chrisccoulsonit shouldn't be23:06
chrisccoulsonDimmuxx, lucid or maverick?23:08
chrisccoulsonthey all seem to be built with official branding here. are you sure you're using the right version?23:08
chrisccoulsoni'm not sure what builds you're using, but they aren't the ones from firefox-stable23:09
micahgDimmuxx: it's firefox, not firefox-4.0 in stable23:09

ftamicahg, has the crypt fix been pushed already?23:40
micahgfta: yes, I'm test building chromium now23:40
ftai have to drop inspector for the next daily23:40
ftait's been merged into resources.pak23:41
micahgfta: we'll probably know in about an hour and a half if it was successful23:41
ftai wonder if i should continue to ship the deb empty or drop it23:46
ftamaybe it's best to keep it empty to ease the transition23:47
ftafor those shifting channels23:47
ftamicahg, i think i will clean up d/control for ch11. like drop chromium-testsuite completely, it's gone since ch4 so it never reached the repos23:55
