=== Blank___ is now known as Blank__ [14:45] hello what is the difference between jackd1 and jackd2 ? [14:45] esox1: most of the changes are subtle [14:45] i would say [14:45] unless something you have is not compaitble with JACK2 [14:45] you want it [14:50] esox1: i would suggest finding a live distro [14:50] with JACK2 [14:50] test it with your gear [14:50] then go from there [14:50] AVlinux im pretty sure [14:50] KXstudio has JACK2 [14:51] i use the KXstudio PPA to have JACK2 and other goodies in my ubuntustudio 10.04 install [14:54] holstein: in fact I want to compile Ingen and I have this error message, I think it is because it needs to be compiled against jackd1 http://pastebin.com/Tbpx2px0 [14:55] holstein: you have th exact wording of this ppa ? [15:10] esox1: sorry [15:10] i have a session here ina bit [15:11] and im running late :/ [15:11] esox1: ask in #opensourcemusicians :) [15:11] falktx is the maintainer of the PPA's i mentioned [16:11] hello, I try to install jackd1 0.120 debs but I have a nightmare with dependencies [16:11] could someone help [16:19] what means 0.120 [16:19] ? [16:19] are you using synaptic [16:23] esox1, why this particular version ? [16:23] azm: to build ingen [16:24] azm: I need to instal those deb https://launchpad.net/~blablack/+archive/music-prod/+buildjob/2332985 [16:24] Error: Launchpad bug 2332985 not found [16:26] ingen does not work with lastest jack one or two ? I can use this to record on my computer, but hte main problem is that I don't know what to hook it into. Do I need to buy a hardware card that will interface with my unit or some firewire device? [16:45] cl3tUs, that is multieffect [16:45] ? [16:45] azm - yes. [16:45] If I understand correctly, it's designed to plug right into a computer and record using hte effects and such on the pedal. [16:46] so no plugins (effects) needed from a program, which is what I wanted. [16:46] The prob is, I don't know exactly what I need to hook it into. Someone said if I got a firewire device, I can run the pedal into the device, then into the computer and be g2g. [16:46] cl3tUs, please feel free to join #opensourcemusicians they will hep you. I need to to go now. [16:46] sorry [16:46] this channel is quite silent most of the time [16:49] hy crysaz [16:49] would you have some way of helping me out? [18:46] azm: ingen needs 0.120 and doesn't like jackd2. It needs jack sessions as fara as I kno [18:47] know [18:47] esox1, that sounds kinda strange. What is so special on this version of jack ? [18:49] azm: don't know... for qure it doesn't like jackd2, can't compile it on jackd2 [18:53] azm: here is what happens when compiling ingen http://pastebin.com/atFFeJzP [18:53] esox1, maybe you could try asking in #jack [18:53] azm: I'l try that thanks [18:54] np [18:56] also there are no stable modular synthesizers in wild ? [18:57] azm: not as good as this one, I'm used to reaktor [18:57] esox1, do you have some samples with using ingen ? [18:57] you created [18:58] azm: what do you mean ? [19:01] what I said [19:01] :) [19:01] some music created with help of using ingen software [19:02] how is it different from audio processing in ardour eg. ? [19:02] Im just watching this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=unM7bd0GZ0Y [19:02] and i thing it could be done without it as well [19:03] esox1: relavant? [19:03] http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1479683 [19:07] holstein: maybe you could tell me how to add this ppa on synaptics... https://launchpad.net/~blablack/+archive/music-prod/+buildjob/2332985 [19:07] Error: Launchpad bug 2332985 not found [19:09] esox1: let me look [19:09] i wouldnt add that PPA [19:09] you dont want to change/depricate a large piece of your system [19:09] for one package [19:10] then, you'll run into problems with other packages soon [19:10] holstein: how can I install those 0.120 debs... [19:11] esox1: severaly ways [19:11] several* [19:11] you can just DL [19:11] then [19:11] and click on them [19:11] OR [19:11] add the ppa [19:11] https://launchpad.net/~blablack/+archive/music-prod [19:12] sudo apt-add-repository ppa:blablack/music-prod [19:12] sudo apt-get update [19:12] BUT [19:13] holstein: but ?
