LockalWhen I log out I see "Mark Shuttleworth wrote on 2011-03-31"14:50
LockalIt this a bug or a feature?14:50
wgrantfta: Not that I know of. What do you see?14:50
wgrantLockal: Timezones.14:50
wgrantLockal: When you're logged in it will show the date in your account's timezone.14:51

ftawgrant, http://people.ubuntu.com/~fta/chromium/stats/stats.html14:56
ftawgrant, i don't believe the popularity of that daily ppa grew that much over night14:57
wgrantfta: Your script didn't change?14:57
wgrantAh, I see.14:58
ftawgrant, i'm working on it right now, but all those numbers come from the same run14:58
ftaso even if i'm doing it wrong, it should be wrong in the same way over the full period14:59
wgrantIndeed, something must have changed on the LP end.14:59
wgrantLet me see.14:59
ftabtw, it's way faster than last time i worked on it (dec/jan)15:01
wgrantLP is much faster than it was at the end of last year.15:01
ftastill slow though (x hours to poll that ppa)15:01
wgrantYeah :/15:02
ftabut at least, it's easier to work with, and no timeout so far15:02
ftacongrats to whoever did this ;)15:03
wgrantfta: So, some very relevant changes were rolled out on Feb 10. I'll grab some Apache logs from the sysadmins tomorrow and compare them with the parsed results, but I think the new ones are correct. I don't understand why the old ones didn't get fixed, though.15:06
ftathe stats are there: http://people.ubuntu.com/~fta/chromium/stats/stats.json15:07
wgrantAh, perfect. Thanks.15:07
ftaalso, i see nothing older than 2009-12-1915:09
wgrantThat must be how far the logs go back.15:10
wgrantAlthough I thought it was longer than that.15:10
ftawell, before that, there are something but it's always zero15:12
wgrantHmm.15:13
fta-are+is, sigh15:18
ftawgrant, i wanted to blog about this, but i guess i should wait until you figure out what's wrong15:20
wgrantfta: Yeah, I'll try to get back to you on this tomorrow :)15:25
ftawgrant, thanks15:25
jelmerfta: hi15:26
jelmerfta: I've been working on a script recently that displays the status of daily builds (e.g. http://people.canonical.com/~jelmer/recipe-status/bzr.html). lifeless mentioned you are / were working on something similar?15:27
ftajelmer, hi, do you mean this: http://people.ubuntu.com/~fta/ppa-dashboard/chromium-daily.html ?15:32
=== yofel_ is now known as yofel
ftajelmer, also http://people.ubuntu.com/~fta/ppa-dashboard/ubuntu-mozilla-daily--ppa.html15:33
jelmerfta: ah, yes15:36
jelmerfta: is that specific to the chromium PPA, do you think it would be worth generalizing?15:37
jelmerfta: Does it use the API or does it screen scrape?15:38
ftajelmer, it's not specific to any ppa.15:38
ftaapi15:38
ftathe code is linked in the sig15:38
jelmerfta: I'll check it out - thanks15:38
ftajelmer, if you want to improve it, you're welcome ;)15:39
jelmerfta: IIRC you don't use recipes right?15:39
jelmerfta: I might see if I can port that bit over from my script15:40
jelmerfta: do you have any plans to publish the source code for http://people.ubuntu.com/~fta/chromium/stats/stats.html ?15:41
ftajelmer, sure. but as i just said to wgrant, the figures are somewhat weird15:42
ftajelmer, if you want to see how i run my ppa dashboard script, look at the end of my generated html pages (view source)15:43
ftathere is a bunch of lp bugs that would need to be fixed to make this perfect15:46

bewestI've created several debian packages for work and personal use now, but I'm a  still a little foggy on some of the details?  what's the difference between a source and binary package?  are new projects required to write a new rules from scratch?  I thought I saw a hello world example somewhere..20:15
bewestI don't quite understand how the milestones affect how packages get advertised.  do entries in the debian/changelog alone determine which versions of ubuntu are available? natty vs lucid? or does there need to be a --distribution param somewhere in the build process?20:19
bewestah, it can be influenced by using dput20:35
