cndLLStarks, thanks for the report, I marked it as a duplicate of a similar report02:20
cndbasically, the functionality isn't gone, it's just not enabled by default in natty anymore02:21
RAOFWhat are you doing up this late on a Sunday, cnd? :)02:21
* bryceh <-- doing taxes02:22

RAOFFun!02:23
RAOFHm.  The espresso machine should have warmed up by now.  Coffeeeeeeeeeeee!02:30
LLStarkscnd, that's not very nice. the "two-fingered scrolling" option now provides ZERO SCROLLING02:35
LLStarksno side-of-trackpad scrolling. nothing. if you try to scroll, the cursor jumps.02:36
LLStarks*very nice behavior02:37
cndLLStarks, if you set the mouse preferences to edge scrolling it should work03:36
cndit's not like we just decided that two finger scrolling shouldn't be allowed :)03:36
cndbut enabling it by default for certain trackpads can cause erratic behavior03:36
cndRAOF, wife is gone for two months biking across the US03:37
cndjust left yesterday03:37
cndso I've got quite a bit more time on my hands03:37
cndI spent most of today watching "Weeds"03:37
cndwhich is really good, btw03:37
cndbryceh, I hope doing taxes means you get a nice refund :)03:38
cndI had to pay a little bit back this year03:38
RAOFcnd: That sounds both interesting and kinda sucky.03:40
cndpretty much :(03:40

alkisgIt produces some output (can't copy/paste), but every other line it also says "Xlib: extension "GLX" missing on display :6.0"10:49

cndLLStarks, we can't disable two finger scrolling as an option because these trackpads can still do it, but they have to be tweaked to be able to do so13:04
cndthis is only for trackpads that report the pressure but not the number of fingers on the trackpad13:05
cndI believe this is a small minority of all synaptics trackpads13:05
tjaaltoncnd: is bug 749493 dupe of bug 742567?13:39

seaLnehi, for the last few weeks in natty i've lost the ability on my laptop (Intel Corporation Mobile 4 Series Chipset Integrated Graphics Controller) to be able to use the external vga or hdmi outputs. they don't appear in xrandr output (or kde system settings display module). all xrandr shows is an output called default whereas before i had something like LVDS1, HDMI1 and VGA115:36
seaLneif i connect a monitor to either of those outputs i get what looks like a 1024xsomething view of my laptop screen which is 1366x76815:37
seaLnei'm not even sure where to start looking to track down what is causing it15:38
seaLneXorg.0.log: http://paste.kde.org/8905/15:41
JanCseaLne: looks like there is no 'intel' driver on your system, so X uses the 'vesa' driver ?15:44
seaLneJanC: arrg some conflict must have uninstalled it and i never noticed, let me check that16:00
* seaLne hugs JanC 16:03
seaLneJanC: thanks i can't believe i never noticed it got uninstalled16:03
JanCseaLne: I'm not sure you're familiar with the Xorg logs, but lines that have (EE) near the front are error messages, in this case the error at line 107 in your paste was relevant16:06
JanCalso, (II) = information and (WW) = warning16:07
seaLneyeah thanks, not sure how i missed that. i think i some how got it into my head that it must be something really complex so missed the obvious things a few years ago when X was harder i'd have noticed instantly16:10

cndtjaalton, there's an update to empcommand (the multitouch game you uploaded a while back): bug 74975517:00
ubot4Launchpad bug 749755 in empcommand (Ubuntu) "unclear licensing for the enclosed font and some samples (affects: 1) (heat: 8)" [Undecided,Fix committed] https://launchpad.net/bugs/74975517:00
cndif you're not too busy could you upload it?17:00
brycehcnd, I got it18:19
cndbryceh, ahh, thanks!18:44
cndwe at least will have one multitouch game in natty at release :)18:45
brycehcnd, :-)18:46
keeswhat's the best way to answer the question, "Which versions of Ubuntu's X server have upstream commit 5725849a1b427cd4a72b84e57f211edb35838718 in it?"23:50
brycehkees, simplest would be to grep for the commit in the various versions' ChangeLog23:53
brycehkees, however that will miss if the commit was added as a patch, so also grep in debian/patches/* for completeness (and then doublecheck patch is enabled in debian/patches/series)23:54
brycehkees, an alternative method would involve using git show in the ubuntu git branch for each release23:54
=== RAOF_ is now known as RAOF
brycehhowever I think we only have branches for maverick and natty, and can't guarantee that someone didn't upload something without committing to the stable branch23:55
