sillav I think I have removed a package that was used by network-manager to show the current connection status. Currently, the icon showed in the notification area is a static icon of a missing icon, regardless of connection status. It still works fine, just looks ugly and isn't as useful. Here is what it looks like: http://tinypic.com/r/2s8ss61/702:38
pleia2sillav: are you trying to make it not show up?02:39
pleia2in the panel near it right click and go to "properties" the networkmanager applet can be hidden02:40
pleia2(any of them can be by selecting in the checkbox)02:40
sillavNo.. I find it quite useful. I just want it to show the status icons it used to. Just by looking at it I could see if I was connected, or not, or connecting.02:42
sillavI'll disconnect while I try something new02:56

xubuntu851I'm switching to Xubuntu, because Ubuntu whill ship with Unity in 11..1010:22

Ciemon_soo xfce-panel is definitely hosed in Natty right now, it's the same on two seperate machines.10:38
ochosiCiemon_: that's the side-effect of fixing a bug unfortunately, wipe/reset the panel config and restart the panel10:41
Ciemon_ochosi: tried and it's still hosed10:41
ochosiwhat you're describing only applies to existing installs btw, not to new installs after the bugfix10:41
ochosiCiemon_: could you elaborate a bit, what do you mean by "hosed"?10:42
Ciemon_I have nothing in ~/.config/xfce4/panel so there's nothing to wipe10:42
Ciemon_sure, there are no panels showing, although xfce4-panel is running10:43
ochosiCiemon_: log out, then "rm -f10:43
ochosi$HOME/.config/xfce4/xfconf/xfce-perchannel-xml/xfce4-panel.xml" in a vt, then  log back in10:43

just_some_dude/usr/share/applications looks like it might have something19:50
charlie-tcaThat would be the file used to put the menu entry in the menus for it19:50
just_some_dudeok19:51
just_some_dudedoes this sound like what sysi suggested i do: "You can also try to quit Cairo-Dock, enable the XFCE option to remember running applications on startup, restart your session and disable this previous option."?19:59
Sysipretty much20:08
just_some_dudere: cairo-dock. i retried not saving the session. i rebooted and had only one instance of cairo-dock (that's good), but the bars at the top of programs (the ones that have the minimize, maximize and close buttons) disapperared (that's not good). so i restarted with the save session box checked, and things appears to be working normally.20:18
just_some_dudein other words, i have no idea what happened, but the computer seems to be working ok now.20:19
