axisysSpamapS: password protected01:16
SpamapSaxisys: there are a few ways to do it. The simplest one is, on the server side, create an smbpasswd record for the users you want to have access with 'smbpasswd -a user' .. then add 'valid users = user' to the entry in smb.conf. If you're sharing via the GUI, I think you can just list the valid users there.01:38

david5345I added a user using the normal useradd -m newuser && passwd newuser command, but auth.log says "Failed password for invalid user newuser... " Oddly enough I've tried two different user names, and I have done this about a 100 times before, why won't it work now ? grepping /etc/passwd and /etc/shadow show's the user has been created and ls /home shows the user's directory. Ubuntu 8.04 LTS21:32

guntbertphoenixsampras: obviously not ^^21:54
RoAkSoAxkirkland: btw.. cobbler package keeps adding diffs automatically22:06
kirklandRoAkSoAx: yeah, wassup with that?22:06
RoAkSoAxkirkland:no idea... one of the weirdness of quilt :)22:07
RoAkSoAxkirkland: i think it's becauseof a left over from .pc dir22:14
zulRoAkSoAx: wha?22:19
phoenixsampraswhat is the last ruby package on 10.0.4 ?22:20
RoAkSoAxzul: get the source from cobbler22:20

guntbertJayro: excuse me - sound and server ? how does that fit?22:24
Jayrojukebox with a http interface22:24
Jayroguntbert, ^22:24
SpamapSRoAkSoAx: right, thats because you have differences between orig and your tree that aren't tracked in quilt22:24
guntbertJayro: I don't get it - but nvm - it was only curiosity22:25
raphink_guntbert: we have a kernel expert in our team that loves to code sound support early in the boot process to make servers do a duck sound when they turn on ;-)22:25
raphink_apart from that, dunno ;-)22:25
Jayroguntbert, do you think you could help me get the sound working?22:25
guntbertJayro: really - no - sorry22:26
RoAkSoAxSpamapS: yeah which shows that those changes shouldn't have appear in the first place. I think that the way to resolve is by quilt pop -a and then, rm -rf .pc and that should be it22:27
Jayrodoes anyone know of a way to test the sound so i can see if it is just mp3 blaster?22:29
TeTeTJayro: maybe aplay some wav file?22:32
SpamapSRoAkSoAx: yeah. Not sure. You guys still trying to fix the "bug" of it not being as usable as you'd like? ;)22:33
JayroTeTet, i ran speaker-test and got alsa errors :S22:33
RoAkSoAxSpamapS: nah.. it is usable now. I just fixed koan (and virt-inst) to install KVM instances, and if using kirkland's NQA preseed, then everything is automatic :)22:34
SpamapSRoAkSoAx: glad you fixed that "bug"22:37
SpamapS:)22:37
TeTeTJayro: hmm, maybe the wrong model is used, do you have the lspci -vvnn output somewhere on pastebin or so?22:37
JayroTetet, give me a sec22:40
JayroTeTeT, lspci -vvnn output gives me the help for lspci22:41
uvirtbot`New bug: #751959 in cobbler (universe) "koan cannot deploy Ubuntu iKVM instances" [Wishlist,Confirmed] https://launchpad.net/bugs/75195922:42
TeTeTJayro: huh? you sure you used only one '-'?22:42
Jayrolspci -vvnn output is exactly what i used22:43
sorenRoAkSoAx: pong22:43
RoAkSoAxsoren: do you maintain/care about virtinst?22:43
TeTeTJayro: what's the output of lspci then?22:43
sorenRoAkSoAx: Do I detect a trick question?22:44
JayroTeTeT, it just gives me the help file22:44
sorenRoAkSoAx: Why do you ask? :)22:44
RoAkSoAxsoren: Installation from an HTTP source fails (I was testing with cobbler/koan). So I patched it, and just wondering if you cared enough/know about it enough, to give an opinion22:45
sorenRoAkSoAx: Ah. No, not at all.22:45

RoAkSoAxkirkland: ok, so I just uploaded cobbler and virtinst to ubuntu-virt PPA23:02
RoAkSoAxkirkland: please give it a test23:02
RoAkSoAxkirkland: you;ll need to add the nqa seed at /var/lib/cobbler/kickstarts/23:03
RoAkSoAxkirkland: and then modify the profile for the server ISO you'v;e imported with cobbler23:03
RoAkSoAxkirkland: to reflect the changes in the kickstart (pointing the nqa seed) and add the kernel options (priority etc etc)23:04
RoAkSoAxkirkland: you should be able to launch it with a command such as:23:04
JayroTeTeT, hows it look? Im guessing i have to add a line but idk what it is23:04
TeTeTJayro: this thread seems to suggest all is fine with your card on 10.10. http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1666715 any chance to try the desktop cd / usb key for checking it?23:04
RoAkSoAxkirkland: sudo koan --server=192.168.1.118 --virt --profile=ubuntu-server-i386 --virt-bridge virbr023:04
