antonihi. i need help making echo mia work under 10.10, it did after fresh install, but after some time (updates? installs?) it ceased to work22:19
ailoantoni, Hi. Does it work with jack?22:23
antoniailo, let me check again for sure22:24
ailoantoni, You could try "cat /proc/asound/cards" to see if it shows as well22:28
antoniailo, okay, just a moment22:30
antoniailo, it DOES work with jack! either i haven't checked (my bad, though i doubt) or something was rectified via another update22:33
ailoantoni, But, does it not work with pulseaudio?22:34
antoniailo, yes it doesn't. rhythmbox's mute, for example22:36
ailoantoni, Does this happen right after you login? qjackctl suspends PA on Lucid and Natty, but I don't think it does on Maverick. Make sure it is not running either way22:38
antoniailo, you mean i should log out and in and check immediately?22:39
ailoantoni, That would be a good way to find out. Do you have any special startup applications? Just want to make sure you are not starting qjackctl at startup, for instance22:40
antonino, not that i know of. automount on startup, i believe22:41

antoniokay, let me try, i'll be back22:41
antoniailo, me again. okay, it does work. i have changed the audio preference from internal soundchip to mia, and it works. however i DID check it before, and it was wrong, so something must have been rectified. anyway it's a good turn out22:49
antoniailo, sorry for trouble22:49
ailoantoni, No problem. It can be a little tricky sometimes22:50
antoniailo, well, i had HELL with it on 10.04 and 9.10, as far as i remember, while earlier it worked okay. no idea what and why, i suspect firmware was omitted from some versions22:51
ailoantoni, was it giving you problems with jack also? I think there have been a lot of problems with PA, and not all of them because of PA22:52
ailoI used to have PA crashing now and then, but not for quite a while22:53
ailoAt least not from normal usage22:53
antoniyes, with jack also. as far as i remember, someone from linux audio helped me forcing some firmware files (?) into the system, and it started to show in jack, but was still mute.22:53
ailoThat's too bad. Hope support won't discontinue at any point. Don't think that card is supported on many systems anymore22:54
antoniit's most confusing when your soundcard stops working after upgrade to new release22:54
* holstein is running 10.0422:55
antonistill, it would be the only reason for me to change it (when it'd be not supported)22:56
ailoI had that problem with my network cards on Debian, but that was because I think the firmware is non-free, and Debian ships a fully free kernel. Could be there's some problem with the firmware, that someone just needed to sort out22:56
antonithanks again!23:06
