gohaihi14:25
gohaii am testing the xubuntu beta14:26
gohaiand noticed that there is often a greyish rectangle below the new scrollbars14:26
gohaie.g. in gedit14:26
gohaiis this something that you are well aware of14:27
gohaior worth filling a bug?14:27
mr_pouitI think I know what you're describing, but could yo make a screenshot?14:29
mr_pouit*you14:30
gohaisure14:30
mr_pouityou can put temporary images on imagebin, or similar I think14:34
gohaiwill upload.. sec14:34
gohaiput it here: http://sukzessiv.net/x120e/gedit-scrollbars.png14:36
mr_pouitmmh, this doesn't look like a resize grip14:37
mr_pouitochosi: http://sukzessiv.net/x120e/gedit-scrollbars.png < do you know what's the grey rectangle below the scrollbar?14:38
gohaiit's like the scrollbar gets the window height wrong14:38
gohaiyou know what package these fancy scrollbars belong to? i thought this would be overlay-scrollbar but that's not even installed here..14:41
mr_pouitah, these weird rectangles only appear when the window isn't maximised14:42
mr_pouitand only in abiword and gedit so far14:42
mr_pouitmmh, no, I just had them in the Appearance settings dialog also14:43
mr_pouitgohai: from the gtk theme14:43
mr_pouit(greybird)14:43
charlie-tcaGood morning14:44
gohaiyeah, I see them in the Appearance settings as well14:44
ochosimr_pouit: i think those rectangles are leftovers of the "resize-grip" patch by ubuntu14:46
ochosimr_pouit: they didn't appear before that, and they're not present in maverick14:46
ochosimr_pouit: don't think i can do anything about that in the gtk-theme14:46
mr_pouityay14:47
mr_pouitgohai: try to file a bug against gtk+2.0 then14:48
gohaiin ubuntu launchpad that is?14:48
mr_pouit99.9% probability it'll be marked as invalid, but that's worth trying anyway14:48
mr_pouityes please14:48
mr_pouithey charlie-tca ochosi 14:49
charlie-tcahere, finally14:50
mr_pouitgohai: (different topic) and for xfce4-volumed, I'll upload 0.1.12 as it only contains the bugfix for your issue, thanks for filing the bug report14:51
gohaithanks a lot!14:51
charlie-tcadangers of starting too early with Natty; got used to the resize grips and grey squares14:52
gohaifilled as 75465614:59

gohaianother question:15:01
gohaii did a safe-upgrade one or two days ago15:01
gohaiand now the settings menu is filled with loads of configuration dialogs15:02
gohaimost of which are also accessible through Settings Manager15:02
gohaiwas this an intentional?15:02
mr_pouitgohai: what's the version of garcon on your system?15:03
mr_pouit(dpkg -l libgarcon-1-0)15:03
gohai0.1.6-0ubuntu115:03
mr_pouitfixed in 0.1.6-0ubuntu215:03
gohaiawesome15:03
gohaimr_pouit: that worked, looks clean now again15:12
charlie-tcagohai: are you running natty?15:13
gohaijep15:13
charlie-tcaNormally, when running the development release, it is best to update every day. There are many changes happening fast.15:14
charlie-tcaI watch #ubuntu+1, and if people are not complaining a lot about not being able to restart or login, I update.15:14
gohai:)15:15
charlie-tcaMost of the problems reported do not actually happen to Xubuntu+1, for which I am grateful.15:15
gohailike it a lot so far15:15
gohaiI haven't used xfce at all before15:16
gohaitime for one more question:15:17
gohaiI see issues with a lot of panels having their settings not saved when I exit15:17
gohaifor example I am currently unable to set a keyboard shortcut to change the keyboard layout15:18
mr_pouitxfce4-xkb-plugin is particularly buggy15:18
gohaiis this a very known bug or should I report for the instances where it matters to me?15:18
gohaibut desperately needed here ;)15:18
mr_pouitif you can describe a reliable way to reproduce the crash, or if you have a gdb trace, or if apport is telling you xkb-plugin crashed, then you can file a bug on launchpad indeed15:21

ubottuLaunchpad bug 754656 in gtk+2.0 (Ubuntu) "greyish rectangle visible below scrollbar in various applications (gedit, etc)" [Low,Incomplete] https://launchpad.net/bugs/75465615:37
gohai"how is this a gtk issue?"15:37
charlie-tcaBecause it was a change to gtk that added the resize grips to all windows, and this is a left-over from that change.15:39
gohaican i reply this explanation from you?15:40
mr_pouitI replied already15:42
gohaithanks15:43
gohaisorry for raising that fuss ;(15:43
mr_pouitno, it's seb128, it's usual ;-)15:44
charlie-tcayup15:45
charlie-tcashould we refer seb128 to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingKernelOops#Submitting%20a%20Kernel%20Oops%20Bug%20Report ?15:51

ubottuUbuntu bug 704105 in gtk+2.0 (Ubuntu) "Resize grip always appears in bottom right of GTK+2.0 windows" [Low,Confirmed]15:52
scott-workhello, i based the latest plymouth-theme-ubuntustudio on xubuntu's plymouth theme and am now having trouble with it15:55
scott-workthis isn't to imply that this is xubuntu's fault in any way :)   it's mine for being ignorant15:55
scott-workbut i was wondering if anyone might have some suggestions on how to fix it15:56
scott-workbasically it used to work but has now quit - it now longer displays the graphics or animation, but rather only shows a baby blue screen15:56
scott-workany help (even pointing me towards another person) would be extremely helpful15:56
charlie-tcamr_pouit: added the gtk resize grip bug to the report for reference15:57
mr_pouitscott-work: tbh, I made the current theme in a hurry, probably by copying another one ;d16:03
mr_pouitso you should ask someone who actually knows something about plymouth, and that's not me, sorry :/16:03
scott-worklol, thanks mr_pouit  :)16:05
scott-worki did the ubuntustudio one in the same manner16:06
ochosimr_pouit: btw, i noticed that resize-grip bug pretty early on, but since it seemed so hard to communicate with the team doing those changes i decided to focus on other things...16:08
charlie-tcaThe biggest thing I see with it is the grey squares/rectangles are a bit of an eyesore. 16:09
ochosiyeah, it's not critical, but it's annoying, i agree16:10
mr_pouitochosi: same, and I even forgot it ;>16:11
charlie-tcathey don't really affect the function at all, and I think the one in gedit is intentional. I believe Ubuntu already modified gedit to have that rectangle, since without it, the resize grip covers the arrow16:11
