[00:07] rick_h__: do you listen to python411? [00:07] no, tried a couple and didn't like it [00:08] he is looking for guest podcasts [00:08] maybe even someone to take it over [00:08] ? interviews you mean? [00:09] oh, more co-host thing [00:09] guest host, co-host [00:09] he is too busy [00:09] http://www.awaretek.com/python/ [00:09] "Software is not magic" podcast, that stuff is in the first 10mins or so [00:10] i have no idea why, but i think he has a lot of listeners. it might be a good way to spread the lococast word if nothing else [00:24] cool, thanks. I'll check it out [00:50] android 1.5 is too old. gonna try one of the 2.x roms [01:38] <_stink__> snap-l: haha, that download page is great. did you ever decide on one? [01:40] _stink__: Yeah, I did, and it still didn't work for what I wanted it to do [01:40] apparently I'm not brain-damaged enough to use Eclipse [01:41] I want to know what Eclipse Classic is. That's got to be pretty much useless [01:43] <_stink__> haha [01:43] <_stink__> maybe it's for the Atari. [01:54] Ahoy [01:54] I have hopped onto 11.04 [01:54] and Unity has only crashed twice! === DBO is now known as GrandpaDBO === GrandpaDBO is now known as DBO [02:44] LETS GO HAWKS! [02:44] \o/ [02:46] brousch: hmm, interesting. I'll have to see what I can come up with. Don't want to take it over, but wonder if he'd want to dual publish or something [02:47] I wish I had some insight into how popular/not his user base is [02:48] hmm [02:48] Unity seems to crash a lot [02:50] make sure to file then [02:50] they couldn't get it to crash much at the jam [02:50] I was wrong [02:50] and they were looking for crashers [02:50] compiz crashes [02:50] Then freezes unity for a few seconds until it can recover === _stink__ is now known as _stink_ [14:07] ok, wow, this feels a bit different [14:08] got my new keyboard in. yay [14:08] very strange sounding [14:24] what kind? [15:54] jrwren: http://elitekeyboards.com/products.php?sub=leopold,tenkeyless&pid=fc200rcab [15:54] krondor: dood, your network hates you [16:25] rick_h__: that looks so much like the dell KB on my desk at work that I'd be afraid its the same thing. [16:25] oh, except the lack of 10key [16:25] heh note quite [16:25] looks sweet. [16:25] does it have a numlock like a laptop KB though? [16:26] http://elitekeyboards.com/support.php#1 [16:26] doesn't look like it [16:26] what does nkey rollover mean? [16:27] This means that each key is scanned completely independently by the keyboard hardware, so that each keypress is correctly detected regardless of how many other keys are being pressed or held down at the time. [16:27] copied/pastecx [16:27] pasted [16:28] basically means you can do more simultaneous keypresses without issues [16:28] rick_h__: yes, mech KB are awesome. I still have 2 focus 2001's that are PCAT style. I had been wiring them to ATX manually myself :( [16:28] this keyboard has teh MX blue switches in there [16:28] so my first try at the cherry MX switches [16:28] wanted to compare against the model M spring buckle [16:28] focus 2001 is spring buckle style. [16:29] although I've used the switches kind [16:29] and while I love the small size of the happy hacker, it moved the backspace and \ keys around [16:29] which messed me up [16:29] so this is small form factor, mechanical, without moving keys around [16:29] focus 2001 had that for a while. [16:29] http://www.geekstuff4u.com/catalog/product/gallery/id/47/image/521/ [16:30] err, no, focus 2001 never moved backspace, but \ was right of right shift [16:30] see the delete below the \ and ~ and such [16:30] yes, that is terrible. [16:30] there is no excuse for that. [16:30] I could get used to it, but every other keyboard doesn't do it [16:30] and I use | and ~ a lot since I'm so terminal happy [16:31] dito. [16:31] err, ditto [16:31] so yea, this new one is a nice middle hopefully [16:31] that lack of t may have been a membrane error :) [16:31] little bit bigger, get F keys and such, but still smaller and mechanical [16:31] heh [16:31] $99 is steep though. [16:31] i should rewire a 2001 for this desktop PC I'm using. [16:32] yea, but I convinced myself it was better than trying the topre switches [16:32] cheapest keyboard using those is $265 [16:32] $99 is worth it for as much as any of us type. [16:32] that's what I say. It's a real difference. [16:32] its just all of my monthly discressionary spending :) [16:32] yea, well fortunately I can only use a couple of keyboards at a time [16:32] so not often I get more than a couple a year [16:33] i made a huge mistake of buying cheap wireless MS shit. [16:33] then i was at the MS store a few months ago. all of thier KB are shit. [16:33] yea, gone downhill [16:33] http://cgi.ebay.com/Used-Focus-FK-2001-Vintage-Mechanical-Keyboard-/150557678612 [16:33] someone got a deal. [16:33] you can't get a decent keyboard in a store any more [16:34] I got their ms4000 or whatever [16:34] loved the layout, but the keys were just sponge crap [16:34] couldn't keep typos away for a single sentence [16:34] wireless comfort key 4000? that is what I'm on right now. it is terrible. [16:34] and the mouse that came with it is the lowest res least acurate optical mouse I've ever used. [16:34] I got the wired, I'm anti wireless with input devices [16:35] I don't care how quick it 'wakes up' there's always lag/etc [16:35] yup [16:37] but yea, I've got some model M replica spring ones, this cherry mx, and the happy hacker which is ok, but that delete key issue :/ [16:37] jrwren: if you need I've got some old MS naturals around [16:38] not mechanical, but were a decent keyboard from them [18:23] Howdy [18:23] JoDee bought a new phone [18:24] HTC Thunderbolt w/ Verizon [18:25] sweet! [18:28] Yeah, it's nice [18:36] She's wandering around the house with her nose in the phone. :) [18:45] jcastro: yo, I didn't get out of dinner until midnight, so I just went home :/ [19:55] rick_h__: http://www.sherlockian.net/acd/copyright.html [19:56] rick_h__: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/H._P._Lovecraft#Copyright [20:11] snap-l: heh, now your house can be iPhone vs Droid! [20:14] Yeah yeah [20:15] Though I have to say I like the Android [20:16] I see someone is doing show notes? [20:17] Um, yeah... :) [20:17] ;) [20:43] snap-l: http://www.engadget.com/2011/04/05/app-gives-htc-thunderbolt-an-lte-on-off-switch/ [20:44] heh, that's awesome. :) [20:45] yea, the 4g phones drain battery when they're setup for it. So if you don't need the speed, better to save it [20:50] greg-g: heh no worries, we were so stuffed from chophouse that we got sleepy [21:45] can anyone test: http://rick.bmark.us/recent curious if the dns is updated/site working ok [21:45] should show two bookmarks for today [21:46] the 9th [23:29] rick_h__: It's working [23:29] cool, thanks
