[00:27] we need more women in our team... [00:28] hopefully when i start going to the U of M i'll recruit some [00:32] actually... [00:33] do we have any women in our team? [00:33] i don't know much of anyone in our team [00:36] hey tonyyarusso we should make a plan on getting more women in our team... if there are any women in our team already, we should encourage them to be more noticed, and help the men to recruit more :) maybe we'll encourage more women to be in the field :D [00:42] "Do we have any?" - Yes. [00:43] "Is it still a disproportionately low number?" - Yes. [00:43] ah ok [00:43] fisch246: Such is a common problem among FLOSS groups I'm afraid. [00:44] yea i'm reading a book about getting women into Linux :D [00:44] not to be crude... but when i saw a guy say "woman stress" i wanted to cut his dick off >.< [00:45] o sorry... it was in the book as an example [00:45] ah [00:47] word of advice... when you see a gal's name... think to yourself "o cool a gal" then move on... [00:48] i understand it's nice to see a gal who's as nerdy as you... i get that... but a woman being nerdy isn't a revelation... [00:51] my problem is that i've been brought up that you open doors for women and all that stuff... basically to give special attention to women, and make sure their needs are met... however with that thinking you have to be careful with making the woman feel out of place... [00:52] * tonyyarusso prefers the "hold doors for people behind you, regardless of gender" method [00:52] yea i do the same thing [00:53] i was just about to get to that :P [00:53] * tonyyarusso feels a nap coming on [00:55] haha well go nap then :P [00:55] i'll hold the fort :3 [01:19] i plan to start a LUG at NHCC and one at U of M if one doesn't already exist if anyone is interested. [02:38] Hey all [02:38] nice to find this channel [02:44] nobody here i guess then [02:44] Not actively anyway [02:44] makes sense, it is saturday night. lol [02:55] hey [02:56] sorry didn't notice someone messaged [02:56] klynch: you from the metro area? [02:57] fisch246, I am yes how about you? [02:57] yup same [02:57] but i ask because i'm hosting a release party [02:58] 29 APR? [02:58] 30th of april [02:58] last date to RSVP is april 16th [02:59] nice [02:59] which is next saturday [02:59] I am thinking about 11.04 I tried it last week and the unity didn't seem to work well. [03:00] well that's why it's a release party not an install fest haha [03:01] also i couldn't find a place to host such a thing [03:01] the main point of the party is to find out how much people are willing to get involved and let people get to know each other :) [03:07] well if you wish to RSVP please email me at paul@mcspadden.net :) [03:42] klynch: another person here :) [03:43] tonyyarusso: have a good nap? [03:43] yup, and dinner [03:43] same [04:06] * Takyoji reads up [04:12] * Takyoji slowly approaches klynch while repeating "one of us... One of us.. ONE OF US.. ONE OF US! ONE OF US!!" [04:12] I am here. just a bit busy with un windowing a friend of mine [04:12] get his feet wet with puppy [04:13] Takyoji: i, robot reference? [04:13] Unity has some bugs. For example, right now, on my laptop, if you go between windowed-fullscreen for an application 4 times, everything freezes. [04:13] whereas supposedly a fix will be available on Monday. [04:14] i think most of the issues are driver issues... cause i've never had problems in 11.04 [04:14] I don't think it was in I Robot [04:14] don't remember that scene? [04:15] and I don't have any type of graphics acceleration or anything in my laptop [04:15] well it's just everything i have is built in [04:15] only thing i have a driver for is my wifi [04:16] I have not seen any problems with Linux at all, except with some mild issues with printers or wireless cards (at first) [04:16] I mean, in terms of hardware support [04:16] yea i haven't gotten my printer to work [04:16] everything I've thrown at my Linux desktop has worked instantly out of the box. [04:17] i done some major digging and found a driver for it, but it still wouldn't print [04:17] i had done* [04:18] maybe i could find a way to set up a windows machine, and tell that machine to tell the printer to print what i need [04:18] If only printers started to work in a completely self-sentient way. [04:19] and networked [04:19] rather than having a desktop have to tell it every little detail of operation. [04:19] yea [04:20] ATTACK OF THE REVOLT SENTIENT PRINTERS [04:20] And my redundancy is redundant.. [04:26] wow what did I leave to come back to. lol [04:35] what kind of printer are you having trouble with/ [05:32] * tonyyarusso suspects h00k is having a weekend with the lady-friend - has been surprisingly absent from teh IRCs. [05:33] tonyyarusso: Well generally spending time with a girl goes along with marrying her :P [05:33] nah [05:33] typical :P [09:01] * fisch246 curses bazhang's name [09:01] fedora was a trap [09:01] now my grub is screwed [09:01] >.<
