Rodenskyhello.  what's the romanian repo server address?01:09
Rodensky(i mean the official one, not mirrors)01:10
Sysithere propably isn't any01:10
Sysimirrors are the same, the only official is in usa or somewhere afaik01:11
Rodenskythere was untill a few minutes ago when i accidently deleted the address :-)01:11
Rodenskyit was something like "ftp.ubuntu.ro" or whatever01:11
Sysiit's still a mirror.. your loco should know better01:12
Rodenskymy loco is asleep... it's 3am here :P01:13
Rodensky(if there is one...)01:13
Sysiso we're at the same zone then01:13
Sysihttps://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+archivemirrors01:14
Rodenskywe're having some problems tonight, i can't open this web page, can you please tell me the server address?01:16
Rodenskypretty please :]01:17
xeviousSo, what do you guys think my chances of this working are: I created a Live USB stick, but it's not what I want exactly... i'd like a full installation running off the USB stick.05:13
xeviousSo I'm thinking if I install Xubuntu in VM, then mount the squashfs that's on the USB stick, I could rsync the VM's root FS into the squashfs.05:13
xeviousObviously there are some files I'd have to keep intact.05:14
Unit193What are you looking to do? What doesn't the stick do?05:17
Unit193!usb05:17
ubottuFor information about installing Ubuntu from USB flash drives, see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Installation/FromUSBStick - For a persistent live USB install, see: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/LiveUsbPendrivePersistent05:17
xeviousIt's being a bit odd. All kernel updates are wonky.05:19
xeviousI wish I could just boot the installers that I've got set up on my PXE server and choose the USB stick as the target.05:19
xeviousIt won't let me install the nvidia driver.05:20
xeviousI suspect that's related to the kernel updates not working.05:20
Unit193Did you have a look at the last link?05:21
xeviousYeah I've read those.05:21
xeviousI've got a LiveCD image written to it with a persistent image, but it's not working quite right.05:22
xeviousSuch as not being able to install the nvidia drivers.05:22
xeviousI broke it!05:23
xeviousHa - I figured getting a customized LiveUSB up and running would be an easy temporary solution while my PXE server is being reconfigured.05:24
xeviousWhatever, I'll just deal with it until I get PXE booting back up and running.05:42

rklapphello?20:20
rklappI have questions. Can anyone help me?20:23
TheSheep!hi | rklapp20:27
ubotturklapp: Hi!, Welcome to #xubuntu! Feel free to ask questions and help people out. The channel guidelines are at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/IRC/Guidelines. Enjoy your stay!20:27
rklappI'm using the Maverick Meerkat version. Is this the right place?20:33
TheSheepyes20:33
rklappMy video is stuck in low res mode.20:33
rklappron@ubuntu:~$ nvidia-xconfig20:33
rklappUsing X configuration file: "/etc/X11/xorg.conf".20:33
rklappVALIDATION ERROR: Data incomplete in file /etc/X11/xorg.conf.20:33

rklappERROR: Unable to write to directory '/etc/X11'.20:33
Sysiif over 2 lines, use pastebin20:34
TheSheepyou have to run it with root priviledges to allow it to write to /etc/X1120:35
TheSheep!sudo | rklapp20:35
Sysinvidia-xconfig doesn't work in ubuntu iirc and if it worked you'd need to run it with sudo20:35
ubotturklapp: sudo is a command to run command-line programs with superuser privileges ("root") (also see !cli). Look at https://help.ubuntu.com/community/RootSudo for more information. For graphical applications see !gksu (GNOME, Xfce), or !kdesudo (KDE). If you're unable to execute commands with sudo see: http://www.psychocats.net/ubuntu/fixsudo20:35
Sysijockey-gtk should handle xorg.conf too20:35
rklapphow do i run in root?20:36
TheSheeprklapp: see hat ubottu gave you20:36
TheSheepwhat*20:36
rklappwhat do you mean gave me?20:37
rklappI ran sudo nvidia-xconfig and it still gave me the same incomplete error but also backed up the xorg.conf file.20:39
TheSheeprklapp: by the way, how did you install the drivers?20:43
TheSheeprklapp: I'm pretty sure it should autodetect them20:43
rklappUnfortunately, it didn't or it did and didn't activate properly. I went through System - Administration - Additional Drivers. It told me that my nvidia driver was not activated so I activated. It told me to reboot so i did. I then got a Too Many connections error and went into tty mode. I'm able to get the GUI back by entering recovery mode and failsafe graphics.20:45
TheSheeprklapp: "too many connections" error?20:50
