=== Andru_ is now known as infoturtle [21:44] anyone here fed up with the current direction that ubuntu are going with their current release? [21:44] i've switched to mint recently [21:45] hello syngindub, what's it you don;t like? [21:46] hi infoturtle..i don't like an OS presuming i'm a complete idiot :) [21:47] you'll hate OSx so [21:47] :p [21:47] i like to customise my OS and the latest version is a big let down. It probably suits more newbies [21:47] never used OSx, have supported it alright but never used it [21:47] TBH I hate it's look, why move to unity when gnome 3 looks sssooooo good! [21:48] whats the deal with gnome 3 though? [21:48] do you need to build this yourself? [21:49] don't think so, I have an install guide for installing it to try it out if you want it [21:49] are you installing gnome 3 on top of natty? [21:50] yep, soon as I get it I'm installing gnome 3.0 over it, it just looks better and less in the way [21:50] http://www.infoturtle.ie/tipsandtricks/installgnome3.0.php [21:50] cheers for that. Have spent the last few days configuring mint though :) i've been know to blow an OS away after a few drinks though :) [21:51] ha ha [21:52] well, you just need to put a little bit more into natty to have it the way you'dlike it [21:52] I switched to arch [21:52] i tried arch last year [21:52] seems ubuntu is starting to stray away from gnome [21:52] highly customisable but i don't have the time for that much though [21:53] yeah IRWolfie- , it's a huge dissapointment as i've been running it for the past 5 years or so..around breezy [21:54] they are completely switching emphasis and i feel there will be a major shift in number from their OS after natty gets released [21:54] I've still got ubuntu on for work [21:54] but arch for my laptop [21:55] arch is too cutting edge for my like :) [21:55] never used arch, is that it's full name? [21:55] i used to spend all my time running updates with arch :) [21:55] arch linux [21:55] I like updates [21:55] and I especially like being on the bleeding edge :D [21:56] looks fancy! [21:57] it's not as newbie friendly as ubuntu, but it seems good for learning more [21:57] next, gentoo! [21:57] it's great for learning alright..the arch community are great for documentation also [21:57] might try it out :D [21:58] for now tho, time to get online and play some unreal, see yall later! [21:58] well worth it..highly configurable
