[00:01] sudo apt-get install os-prober [07:49] hola alguien en linea [12:17] Hey all, I have a short question... does Lubuntu feature the same LiveCD/installer set up as Ubuntu has? [12:18] Ja wandernauta, die heeft die [12:19] Sorry, should keep it English here, but it has [12:28] Okay cool :) [12:28] Thanks! === MrChrisDruif is now known as MrChrisDruif4 === MrChrisDruif4 is now known as MrChrisDruif [16:55] hi! i just installed lubuntu on a new computer, and when i bootup, the login screen is all white. with the menus at the bottom and the text box in the centre showing. when part of the screen gets redrawn (such as when the label changes to "password" or you invoke a menu(, the blue background starts showing. anyone know what's going on? [16:58] which graphics card IL|afk [16:58] radeon HD 5570 [17:02] try booting with nomodeset [17:06] do i just add "nomodeset" to the right line in /boot/grub/grub.cfg? [17:08] or rather to /etc/default/grub in the "GRUB CMDLINE LINUX DEFAULT" variable? [17:08] to /etc/default/grub [17:08] then run sudo update-grub [17:09] but you could first just ry it by pressing e to edit the grub line while booting [17:10] hmm [17:10] i don't get a grub screen when booting [17:10] press shift while booting [17:10] left shift [17:13] didn't work. the grub line is "linux /boot/vmlinuz......... ro quiet splash nomodeset" [17:13] what happened with that? === IL|afk is now known as inductiveload [17:14] the same again [17:14] white background [17:14] hmm okay - what is the native resolution of your monitor? [17:15] 1920*1080 [17:18] i have the ATI proprietary FGLRX drivers installed as well [17:20] ohhh [17:20] did it not work with the opensource drivers? [17:20] or is it the same with both? [17:22] actually i installed it on autopilot, since they were crucial for the other installs i did [17:22] let's have a look [17:22] k [17:25] o, that's working [17:25] thanks [17:27] yw === inductiveload is now known as IL|afk === IL|afk is now known as inductiveload [23:25] Anyone know where I can get Lubuntu 10.04? It seems to be a 21KB file everywhere I'm downloading it, and the download on its release page has changed to 10.10 :/ [23:25] Need 10.04 cuz I will want to put Virtualmin on the box [23:31] http://people.ubuntu.com/~gilir/lubuntu-10.04.iso [23:31] Maybe found it on MegaUpload, yuck. Stand by. [23:31] No, that's a torrent file or something. [23:31] :( [23:31] What is? [23:31] [15:31] http://people.ubuntu.com/~gilir/lubuntu-10.04.iso [23:31] [15:31] Maybe found it on MegaUpload, yuck. Stand by. [23:31] [15:31] * MrChrisDruif (~chris@unaffiliated/chrisdruif) has joined #lubuntu [23:31] [15:31] No, that's a torrent file or something. [23:31] was asking where 10.04 is [23:31] Isn't that the direct link? [23:31] i gave you the link to iso [23:31] It is, but it gives you a 20k file or something [23:32] I've tried it several times [23:32] I know it should be there...but it's not. There are lots of comments on the site about it [23:32] 20k? [23:32] With me it wants to download the iso directly :-/ [23:32] it seems to be a torrent file [23:33] use transmission to download the iso with it [23:33] http://people.ubuntu.com/~gilir/lubuntu-10.04.iso.torrent <= this is the torrent link/file [23:33] MrChrisDruif, link given by me seems to be the same [23:33] dunno why [23:33] :) [23:34] Ahh... [23:34] I see the problem [23:34] That link is directing to something no longer on the site :) [23:35] Yeah, I'm not a torrent user, so was just trying to grab it quickly the way I was used to. I'm checking the checksum of the MU file I downloaded now [23:35] 10.04 isn't directly on the page of gilir any more, as you've got a file limit of 1GB [23:36] You can request more space, but gilir apparently didn't....Lubuntu isn't an official derivative of Ubuntu yet, so his request will probably be denied anyway :) [23:37] wizonesolutions: Are you on ubuntu? [23:39] MrChrisDruif: Nah, downloading it from Windows. The HD that had Ubuntu (well, Xubuntu) on it was going, so I got a new one and decided to clean-install instead of cloning...since I'd be cloning bad blocks anyway. [23:40] Xubuntu was sometimes a little sluggish on the machine cuz I was running Apache also, so someone suggested Lubuntu to me as an even lighter alternative [23:40] All I do with it is run it headless but NX in to have a bit of an interface, easily open multiple terminal windows, use GVim, etc. anyway [23:40] Alright, a lightweight torrent downloader is utorrent [23:40] Yeah the ISO issue might be resolved, just waiting for this program to finish calculating checksum [23:41] Alright [23:42] ouch, fail. won't use that one... [23:43] Alright... [23:43] You checksummed that 20k file? [23:43] no, the one from megaupload [23:43] definitely not a "trusted source" it didn't match any of the md5sum.txt ones [23:43] I don't know which one that is? [23:43] I'll check out utorrent [23:43] It's in the comments somewhere [23:44] http://lubuntu.net/blog/lubuntu-1004-now-available-download [23:45] http://phillw.net/lubuntu-10.04.iso [23:47] That is also a direct link, I don't know if that server is still running, phillw has had some troubles lately [23:48] Ahh, it still works :) [23:48] Just checked [23:49] Well, I just got uTorrent in so I must use it at least once before uninstalling, hehe [23:49] :P [23:50] How does download speed work on this thing? Is it like distributed or something? Seems to be increasing slowly. Interesting. [23:51] Anyway, stepping out for a while. MrChrisDruif I appreciate the help :) [23:51] szczur as well, thanks [23:51] wizonesolutions: It's dependent on upload speed of people having the file [23:52] Lubuntu-10.04.iso torrent right? [23:52] It doesn't seem to connect...at least not to me wizonesolutions
