[05:13] Hey Bassem - have you heard anything from the ubuntu-ae mail list moderator? [06:30] rverrips: [06:30] Yeah [06:31] rverrips: i'm not the one who will take care of the mainling list [06:32] Sorry, didn't mean to suggest that - Just in the meeting you said you'd contacted the guy... [06:34] rverrips: i understans what you mean! but i didn't say that! [06:34] check the MoM [06:34] apologies, my mistake - Haden said he contacted him ... [06:48] rverrips: no problem my friend :-) we all do that early in the morning :-p [06:48] Thank goodness for logfiles :-) [06:49] Do you know Zulfiqar Al Khan - He was at the meetup in January (I think) ... I missed Feb and April so not sure if he attended after that ... [06:51] rverrips: no i don't know him, what about him? === nlsthzn is now known as nlsthzn-work [07:45] * nlsthzn-work waves [08:07] nlsthzn-work, waves [08:15] bassem: Hey :) [08:23] Hi Neil! [08:24] Anyone have any fun with diaspora yet? [08:25] rverrips, not yet [08:25] rverrips, is it by invitations ? [08:26] The main pod at joindiaspora.com yes ... but you can join one of the community maintained pods like https://diasp.org [08:30] rverrips: I would love to try it out... maybe we should start something like that... oh and hi :p [08:32] HI [08:32] You on Facebook Neil? [08:33] rverrips: yup [08:36] I've friended you on FB - I can send you an invite to diasp.org through that. I'd be keen to start something local but have time to commit developing / updating - It's still VERY alpha and not my area of experience (I'm a LAMP guy, they use Ruby and bundler etc) [08:38] Oh, and NGINX [08:44] viva nginx! [08:44] nginx is still growing on ,,, Apache and I go back a long way [08:44] rverrips, I have a running nginx vps! [08:47] rverrips: checking diaspora source code [08:47] it's rails. nginx is not a must to run it [08:47] rverrips: sounds cool... I will except once I am back home (time permitting this evening) :) [08:48] That's good news ... [08:48] Good news 'bout diaspora on apache, not so much about neil going home :-) [08:50] the usual deployment is with the help of phusion passenger (aka mod_rails). it supports both: apache and nginx [08:50] :) [08:50] nginx seems to have a smaller memory footprint and being a bit faster [08:52] I've heard good things 'bout nginx, but the apache guys are also quick to take up a challenge - There's talk they're working on getting the benchmark beater back :-) [08:53] bassem: i remember once asking a question re multiple versions of ruby on the same machine [08:54] I also have very limited experience with redis .... [08:54] the answer is rvm: rvm.beginrescueend.com [08:55] bojicas, I didn't get what you said! [08:58] i think, you were asking few days ago, how to run ruby 1.8 and 1.9.2 on the same machine. [09:01] rvm let's you install different ruby versions and switch nicely between them. [09:05] bojicas, I faced that problem while installing remine! but it's ok now [09:05] * nlsthzn-work is busy having a look at some python... haven't programmed since school (in turbo pascal :p) [09:05] bojicas, what is rvm [09:06] rvm is a tool that let's you manage multiple rubies. [09:07] for example: [09:07] rvm install ruby-1.8.7 [09:07] or [09:07] rvm install ruby-1.9.2 [09:08] than, to set the environment to use one of them you just say: [09:08] rvm use ruby-1.9.2 [09:09] and the full environment is switched to 1.9.2. This way the gems will not clash [09:10] and you can easily test apps under different versions. eg. redmine is known to run under 1.8 due to rails2 dependency. [09:12] bojicas, thanks for the info === rverrips_ is now known as rverrips [09:16] also passenger can be set to use a particular ruby ... e.g. PassengerRuby /home/username/.rvm/bin/passenger_ruby [09:17] rvm ree [09:17] gem install passenger [09:17] rvmsudo passenger-install-nginx-module [09:17] if your using ree as your ruby (ree support redmine) [09:21] bojicas, for sure I will call you next time when I'll configure something related to RoR [13:46] * nlsthzn-work waves @ Toki... welcome [13:46] nlsthzn-work: Thanks. [13:48] You guys are sporting the next meeting in the topic quite happily, but what discussion topics? Since Silviu is going to chair the next meeting as well, someone tell him to suggest a meetup and I'll approve it. [13:51] nlsthzn-work: Can I interest you in C? [13:52] Toki: C? [13:52] nlsthzn-work: Indeed, the language Linux is mostly written in. [13:54] Toki: Nope I am not interested in C thanks :) [13:54] besides C is old now... [13:54] it has evolved in many directions [13:56] nlsthzn-work: C maybe old, but it's still in use and will be for the forseeable future. [13:57] Are you not using Google's chat function? [13:57] BRB [13:58] Toki: sorry... did not see/hear you on gmail... [15:44] Hey guys... [15:44] Good evening... [15:51] bassem , Toki [15:52] Haden, ? [15:53] Haden give me 3 min [15:53] I said Good Evening ") [16:26] Toki, Haden , in the next meeting we will review what we did the last week! and what is the next steps !!!
