pleia2that's the agenda for the meeting, who all is here?21:01
jledbettero/21:01
Pendulumo/21:01
pleia2ok, so my plan for this meeting is to quickly review all our natty blueprints to see where we are, and then to do a little discussion about our plans for the oneiric cycle21:02
macooh im here too o/21:02
pleia2[TOPIC] Ubuntu Women UDS-N Goals blueprint21:02
Mootbot-UKNew Topic:  Ubuntu Women UDS-N Goals blueprint21:02

Mootbot-UKLINK received:  https://blueprints.launchpad.net/ubuntu-women.org/+spec/ubuntutheproject-community-n-ubuntu-women-project-goals21:02
pleia2so, as far as this specific blueprint we had to defer the blogging and contest stuff because they moved ada lovelace day21:02
pleia2in it's place we ended up doing work on increasing UDS diversity, so I don't really see this as a failure, we kept busy :)21:03
pleia2[alanbell/lyz] work to get new wiki theme approved and into the wiki: INPROGRESS21:03
AlanBello/21:03
pleia2elky wanted to submit some patches, but she's in the middle of a big move so it's been difficult21:04
pleia2http://wiki.ubuntu-women.org/NewWikiTheme has details if you want to check out the new theme though :)21:04
Mootbot-UKLINK received:  http://wiki.ubuntu-women.org/NewWikiTheme has details if you want to check out the new theme though :)21:04
pleia2that's pretty much it for this blueprint, comments?21:05
macolooks nice21:05
pleia2[TOPIC] Ubuntu Women Mentoring Partnerships blueprint21:05

pleia2we got most of this done :)21:06
pleia2the last one was sorta waiting on the beginners team changing their mentoring structure a bit, so it'll probably be bumped to next cycle21:06
pleia2comments? questions?21:07
jledbetterpleia2, Changing?21:07
pleia2jledbetter: this cycle they changed names of things, now have mentors and masters21:07
pleia2and want to change names further21:08
pleia2I'm sorta waiting until things stabilize21:08
jledbetterYeah, true.21:08
AlanBellI have a lovely project for a new developer21:08
pleia2AlanBell: maybe post the opportunity to the list?21:09
pleia2I think we've done a poor job reaching out to folks who say "I'm a programmer, what can I do to help?"21:09
AlanBellyeah, would like to discuss after the meeting21:09
pleia2mostly I point them at bug triage and app developer week stuff, but it's not very targeted :\21:09
jledbetterRight.21:10
pleia2but let's move on to Oneiric stuff, since we can pretty much say Natty is done (release is next week :))21:10
pleia2[TOPIC] Oneiric Blueprint21:10
Mootbot-UKNew Topic:  Oneiric Blueprint21:10
pleia2[LINK] https://blueprints.launchpad.net/ubuntu-women.org/+spec/community-o-ubuntu-women-project-goals21:10
Mootbot-UKLINK received:  https://blueprints.launchpad.net/ubuntu-women.org/+spec/community-o-ubuntu-women-project-goals21:10
pleia2we'll be having a session at UDS (May 9-13, uds.ubuntu.com) which can be attended remotely21:11
pleia2so on my short list for this blueprint: leadership elections (our terms in LP expire 2010-08-11), finish website/wiki work, continue mentoring, ada lovelace blogging/contest that we deferred21:12
PendulumI think that's a fair bit of work for one cycle :P21:12
pleia2yeah, we'll have to define exactly what we need to do for each of these21:13
pleia2mentoring is the huge one, so we need specific tasks again21:13
pleia2http://wiki.ubuntu-women.org/Mentoring describes our current process21:13
Mootbot-UKLINK received:  http://wiki.ubuntu-women.org/Mentoring describes our current process21:13
pleia2(not much of a process)21:14
pleia2so I'm thinking we can encourage each other to do things like AlanBell's having a new develop project he can give someone, and in general being better about targeted "stuff to do"21:14
pleia2not sure what else :)21:16
pleia2even if they don't end up on the blueprint for this cycle, anyone else have ideas of what we should be doing as a project?21:17
pleia2things you've seen other diversity projects do? ways that we can improve current things we do?21:17
macoyou know the photos we have of the person in each interview?21:17
Cheri703-mobileI think reaching out to locos might be good21:18
macoi think itd be neat to have a collage made up of those on the website21:18
pleia2maco: good idea21:18
jledbettermaco, Neat21:18
pleia2Cheri703-mobile: to offer them help to increase the number of women?21:18
macoi'd like to know how to do that!21:18
macoi'm the only woman in my LoCo21:18
Cheri703-mobileYeah, or even helping them know there IS uw21:19
Cheri703-mobileSo the women they do have can be aware21:19
macoi'm probably not going to Ohio LinuxFest this year because the folk festival where the LoCo always sets up a booth is that weekend, and women don't visit the booth if it's *all men*  (the guys noticed this the first year they had me there)21:19
pleia2maco: wow, interesting21:20
pleia2Cheri703-mobile: maybe we can put together some kind of document that discusses some of the ways to attract a more diverse crowd?21:21
pleia2I wrote an article in full circle magazine a couple years back, the how-to encourage women in linux document has some goodies21:21
Cheri703-mobileEven just helping to point out stuff like that, not just helping increase female participation, but encouraging the ones they have21:21
macopleia2: when i went to lunch, they noticed the sudden demographic change in visitors21:22
Cheri703-mobileYeah jledbetter21:22
macoour LoCo has a document we put on the table with info for women that has blurbs and URLs for UW, LinuxChix, DrupalChix, etc.21:23
macoi'll try to get a copy of it from kjcole21:23
pleia2we often have the little UW business cards or fliers from http://wiki.ubuntu-women.org/Resources at events21:23
Cheri703-mobileI will be using those next weekend, we are having a loco event21:24
pleia2yay :)21:24
pleia2I actually really like creating a page on our wiki for this stuff that we can show our loco teams as a blueprint item21:24
Cheri703-mobilePossibly also putting some of that on spread ubuntu21:25
pleia2oh yes, good idea!21:25
Cheri703-mobileI didn't know about the uw page, but skim spread ubuntu on occasion21:26
* pleia2 nods21:26
pleia2ok, good, we have a nice list now21:29
pleia2I think I'll touch base with MichelleQ regarding mentoring, she took the lead here at the last UDS but she's gotten quite busy21:29
pleia2see what ideas she has for goals in the next cycle and whether she can help21:30
jledbetterAnd how we can, especially BT21:30
pleia2yeah, improving partnerships with other teams should be a priority21:31
Cheri703-mobilecan someone email me all of the links from this meeting?21:31
macoCheri703-mobile: i think the logs should be sent to the mailing list later...21:31
pleia2yeah, the logs with all the links will be posted on the wiki21:31
macoor a link to them, at least21:32
pleia2I can email them to you directly though, Mootbot-UK gives me a big ole PM log21:32
pleia2oh, and this is our last meeting until UDS21:32
Cheri703-mobileOk, that'd be great21:32
pleia2hypatia, Cheri703 and I will be there in person :)21:33
pleia2and others21:33
macopleia2: can i talk stats now?21:33
* Cheri703-mobile is super excited21:34
pleia2we'll post remote participation details and timing for everything before the session21:34
pleia2[TOPIC] Developer Statistics21:34
Mootbot-UKNew Topic:  Developer Statistics21:34
pleia2maco: all yours!21:34
macoToday I used AlanBell's team crawling script and found that there are 168 members of ~ubuntu-dev.  Of those, 7 are women, making 4.2%.  This is pretty close to our 5% member stat, so that points to fairly equal participation in development versus other things21:35
macoThe rate of women joining ~ubuntu-dev has also been increasing. In 2007, there was one woman added.  Another in 2008, 2 in 2009, and 3 last year21:36
pleia2yay!21:36
maco(Though I can say that at the moment, there are no women with their names up for application, at least through the DMB https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DeveloperMembershipBoard/Agenda )21:37
* valorie is late, but I'm here21:37
pleia2it's nice to see us making progress anyway21:38
pleia2thanks for digging this up, maco :)21:38
