=== rexbron_ is now known as rexbron [02:51] TheMuso: Hey Luke, are you familiar with dmraid? [02:58] hello folks [03:14] Kokito: o/ [03:14] ScottL: i see we have new builds? [03:14] maybe not... [03:14] maybe im just getting the notification from the test tracker [03:15] hopefully i have time tomorrow to do a few 64bits [03:15] hey holstein [03:25] holstein, i think they are rebuilding yet again [03:25] i was going to ask in #ubuntu-release [03:35] holstein, there seems to be some questions not answered yet, it may not be prudent to test right now [03:43] ScottL: i'll check in [03:43] before i get crackin [03:43] it would be tomorrow afternoon anyways [03:45] i think this is the second rebuild already :/ [03:45] i hope it is sorted soon as we release in three days [03:46] i know right? [03:46] ScottL: nothing we/i can do though right? [03:46] just test? [03:47] no, nothing for us to do but test [03:47] i think it has to do with all the alternate images [03:47] not ubuntu studio specific [12:50] holstein, it looks like the builds might not respin again [12:51] holstein, if you wanted to test the amd64 ISO's that would be awesome [12:51] holstein, i'm downloading the i386 currently and will do this this afternoon/evening when i get home [13:50] ScottL: I plan to test the amd64 too, a test install about a week ago went fine, but will check now. Also will give Alessio's kernel a spin too, though cannot test for xruns in recording and the like, but at least for basic functionality. [13:51] ...and by planning to test it I meant tonight, like in a couple of hours. [14:45] astraljava: that would be great :) [14:45] thanks [15:24] scott-work: astraljava [15:25] looks like we might have new iso? [15:25] maybe not... [15:25] just make sure you have 20110426.1 [15:25] OR better yet [15:25] confirm with -release [15:25] sux to do all that work on old ones :/ [15:37] holstein: yeah, this is very frustrating :| [15:42] it looks like 13:26 UTC cjwatson said that all the alternatives are rebuilding because the -security repository wasn't enabled by default :( [15:46] hey [15:46] a valid reason [15:46] i like it :) [15:59] yeah, but we have very limited resources to do testing and i think there has been four or five images in the past three days? [15:59] and it is tough to ask people to test and test and test when they all have other things to do [15:59] i unoffically swore to procrastinate [16:00] but people from #ubuntu-testing help quite a bit as well [16:00] i forget when it was i tested [16:00] lol holstein, good plan! [16:00] and we got all new images *while* i was testing the last case [16:00] and i was sad :/ [16:00] *not that im doing that now [16:00] im actually busy [16:00] straightening out a website [16:00] and getting some guy online [16:01] a friend of a friend [16:01] i'm a little irritated because it's a bit of a process for me, i have to download (i use zsync though), then setup a machine, install ... do try to trhead this around watching kids, cooking dinner, cleaning up, taking dogs outside, helping with homework, keeping the kids from beating up each other, etc, etc, etc [16:01] i play tonite, but i should be home at a somewhat resonable hour [16:01] i could do some testing then [16:02] scott-work: OH, i hear you [16:02] holstein: what kind of website? like a hosted webpage? or like a bandcamp thing? [16:02] i did 3 tests that day [16:02] and it took 4ever [16:02] holstein: is he a musician? [16:02] scott-work: nah, its an auctioneer [16:02] local guys [16:02] i didn't know you knew how to do website :P [16:02] im more of a technical consultant for them [16:03] they need to change info a lot [16:03] i moved them to a weebly site [16:03] in hopes that it would be easy for them [16:03] a nice balance of functionality and ease [16:03] weebly? never heard of it, but then again, there's crap loads that i've never heard of either [16:04] scott-work: i think its one of the better 'we make a site for you' sites [16:04] ah cool [16:04] you can make elements [16:04] with nice slide shows [16:04] which they need [16:04] and of course whatever text [16:04] BUT [16:04] you can bounce those elements between pages [16:05] something that the old site didnt allow them to do easily [16:05] when an auction happens [16:05] they need to move it to another page [16:05] *easily [16:07] they were doing things like leaving SD cards with pictures on them at the office [16:07] people driving 30 minutes to make that happen [16:07] and put pictures on the site [16:07] i got them on dropbox [16:08] just little simple time-saving tools like that [16:08] wow, you really hooked them up then :) [16:08] i was looking at the weebly site a bit [16:08] its not bad [16:09] decent prices too [16:09] im just forwarding their URL [16:09] so, they can bail on it if they want [16:09] but, so far, its working for them [16:09] the girl that was entering data just moved [16:09] and they need someone else to do it [16:10] SO, im kinda covering for that for a minute [16:10] since they have 6 auctions coming up in the next few weeks [16:10] their mailing list is a totally mess [16:10] thats next* [16:11] you cant un-subscribe [16:11] nothing is auto-mated [16:17] heh, i watched the weebly video on their homepage and now i want to make a website :P [16:21] ive tried some of the others [16:21] even the weebly ad on the totally free site is subtle [16:21] and down at the bottom [16:22] these guys are paying, and i get to see some of the extra things you get when you pay [16:22] i dont' really have a reason to build a website, i'd be doing it for fun...but seeing as i don't really have time i probably won't [16:46] holstein: i asked cjwatson if they were planning any further respins to please let me know as we had people scheduled to test, he said that this was the last of which he was aware [18:01] holstein: I used the link on iso.qa.u.c [18:01] holstein: Shouldn't that be what needs to be tested? [18:05] astraljava: hopefully [18:05] BUT [18:06] i got an email since you said you were testing [18:06] that said there were new ISO's [18:06] Oh? [18:06] so i wanted to let you know [18:06] Oh crap, so did I. [18:06] 20110426.1 [18:06] Oh well, zsync should get it fast. [18:06] Good call, thanks for the heads up! [18:06] ^ thats *should* be the lastest [18:07] astraljava: yeah, its a drag wasting time on old ones [18:10] It would be. Fortunately started reading the channel backlog right before starting the installer. :) [19:33] Entire disk without encryption succeeded, and thusly reported. [20:07] Auto-resize similarily succeeded, and reported. [20:08] astraljava: you are awesome [20:08] everyone thanks you :) [20:08] * astraljava bows humbly [20:09] Wish I can do much, much more the next cycle, though. [20:09] Planning to, and might succeed this time around. [20:11] thanks astraljava , that is awesome :) [20:12] astraljava: hey, this iso testing is SO helpful [20:13] only amd64 with encryption left [20:13] holstein: are you being sarcastic or serious? [20:13] im serious [20:13] its time consuming [20:14] id rather jab a fork in my eye ;) [20:14] OK, its not that bad [20:14] but still, its time consuming [20:14] and it seems like we have less and less time to get it done [20:15] Well, I do still understand the reasoning behind it. [20:16] OH [20:16] its necessayre [20:16] its necessary [20:17] scott-work: Doing the encrypted amd64 right as I type. [20:17] scott-work: Also the manual partitioning needs to be done. [20:18] holstein: Oh okay, just realized what you meant there. :) [20:19] astraljava: regardless, im not trying to be sarcastic [20:19] i appreciate your time :) [20:19] Understood. :) [20:19] It's fine, I like to test on real hardware, the one I would be using it. Gives me more confidence. [20:20] Would be faster on virtual machine, but I hate those, and it wouldn't be for real anyway. [20:52] That was weird, will have to see it again. Booting into the encrypted requires fiddling with virtual terminals so that you get to see the passphrase dialog on top of splash. [20:53] Yeah, switching to VT[1-6] and then back to 7 is required to see the dialog. [20:53] I guess the install can be marked successful still? [21:05] i would presume so if you think this is a problem with VM rather than the actual ISO image [21:07] Actually I have no idea what the problem could be. On #ubuntu-testing people aren't seeing this, neither on real hardware (like mine) nor on virtual machines. [21:18] Marked as passed, but included a bug id lp #771460. Hope it's okay. [21:18] Launchpad bug 771460 in plymouth (Ubuntu) "Need to switch to VT[1-6] and back to VT7 to see the "unlock with passphrase" dialog on encrypted entire disks installs" [Undecided,New] https://launchpad.net/bugs/771460 [21:19] Continuing for the final test case. [22:10] Alright, all test cases passed and reported as such. [22:11] Looking forward to start using the system again. Hopefully some recording during the summer? [22:11] Oh well, time to head to bed now. Catch ya guys later.
