[03:27] i have read all the release stuff and nothing says to upgrade do xyz [03:28] do I have to load from usb drive? [03:28] doesn't make sense [04:13] Is there some way to install Edubuntu over an existing Linux system? [04:13] (without using a CD or DVD)? [04:14] ball: that download link I gave you earlier has instructions "You can also install all Edubuntu packages, including artwork by installing the edubuntu-desktop package." [04:15] under " Installation on an existing Ubuntu system [04:15] pleia2: Do you think that'll fix her GUI? [04:15] what's the trouble with the GUI? [04:16] She had Xubuntu but I tried upgrading it to 11.4 [04:16] ...it broke the panel. [04:16] (no menu top or bottom) [04:16] well, edubuntu uses gnome rather than xfce, so it wouldn't fix xfce's panels, it would load up a different gui [04:17] I don't know how to fix the xfce panels in 11.04 (haven't upgraded my own system yet) [04:17] I wouldn't try it. [04:17] brb [04:21] ...wondered if there was some way to mount and then chainload an iso image [04:21] ...or something like that. [04:53] Does 64-bit only make sense on a machine with more than 3 Gbytes RAM? [05:18] ball: YEs [05:18] pleia2: Hey p, how's plans? [05:21] doctormo: excellent! I'm excited about a million things and very busy :) [05:22] pleia2: Yeah, got my scanner working in the lab over the network, it runs from usb to cat5, back to usb, to server, server over saned to the rest of the clients. [05:22] Also basically completed my registration screen for the greeter, so people can register before they log in. [05:23] I think I'll do a video for it. [05:23] But man is it all a lot of work! :-) [05:25] nice! [05:26] I have to go. I jus fell asleep again.
