[03:40] Good evening. [03:41] hi there [03:42] Hi, kelms. [03:44] just finished installing kubuntu 11.04 on my laptop [03:45] How do you like it so far? [03:45] it looks good [03:45] I'm still getting used to Unity. [03:48] I'll need to try Ubuntu live cd to try that out [03:49] It should be installed on your laptop now. [03:55] Hi, deinerson1. [03:55] hi :) [03:55] hi there [04:03] weazzle: thanks for calling this meeting! It has been some time since we last met. [04:05] way too long [04:08] weazzle: are you around? [04:12] kelms: have you attended any of our IRC meetings before? [04:12] yes, for several years [04:13] Hmm, sorry. I don't recall. Did you use a different nick before? [04:14] usually kelms, maybe kenneth [04:14] Ah! [04:15] Kenneth! You're the one that called this meeting. Shall we get started? [04:15] yes [04:15] You're the one with the Chumby Classic, right? [04:15] Sorry, my bad. I was thinking your nick was weazzle. [04:15] yes [04:16] Please, proceed. [04:18] just on how everybody was going with 11.04 [04:19] I've been using it since alpha 3, and Unity has improved a little bit, but I'm still getting used to it. Switching to the proprietary drivers helped a little. I still prefer what they're now calling the "Ubuntu Classic" desktop. [04:20] also since I haven't setup the chat client yet. i'am using my droid x [04:20] Nice. :) [04:21] I put 11.04 w/ Unity on my netbook (eeepc901) and while I haven't used it much, so far so good. [04:21] kubuntu finally sees the power adaptor plugged in on the laptop [04:22] Ah, that's right...you're a Kubuntu user. I was wondering why you hadn't seen Unity yet. [04:24] I have to admit that I'm interested to see what Gnome Shell is like. [04:30] Since the birth of my second child, I've had *very* little time to devote to Ubuntu. [04:30] (Which I don't mind in the least. I love my children.) [04:31] But, if anybody wants to take over as the NM LoCo Contact, please let me know. [04:32] not that the economy has been helping much [04:33] If it wasn't for Android, linux would have stalled [04:34] IMHO [04:35] I hadn't thought about that. [04:38] With the end of the primacy of the desktop, Microsoft has too compete were Linux is strong [04:38] Ah, right. [04:43] hopefully the Appstream project (a linux appmarket) will get going [04:48] I'm glad you called this meeting, kelms. Are you hoping to organize a post-launch party? [04:49] yes, or some type of meet. maybe invite some android people [04:50] That would be great. [04:51] good idea [04:54] Just let us know, kelms. [04:54] ok [05:00] I need to go. Thanks again for calling the meeting, kelms. Good night! [05:00] night
