[00:09] hey maxrb [00:09] your preseed works [00:10] which is extra wierd because the only real difference is this line: d-i partman-auto/choose_recipe select atomic [00:10] bdmurray, why can't I update the tags for bug 655833 ? [00:12] wait let me guess ;-) [00:12] bdmurray, I just tested it and its all good. I need to change it from v-needed to v-done. But I don't have the option to update the tags [00:12] patrickmw: hunh, I just did it. must be a browser thing [00:13] bdmurray, I will restart firefox [00:13] patrickmw: you can tack on /+edit to the url to get a non ajax form [00:13] https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/eclipse/+bug/655833/+edit [00:13] Launchpad bug 655833 in eclipse (Ubuntu Maverick) (and 3 other projects) "Eclipse Foundation Code-signing certificate chain not trusted (affects: 2) (heat: 18)" [Undecided,Fix released] [00:13] bdmurray, oh thats frickin cool [00:14] I've seen weird things happen with launchpad ajax when firefox is using lots of memory [00:14] so that's a possibility [00:16] bdmurray, thanks for the tip. /+edit is sweet === arand_ is now known as arand [01:49] nite [09:29] anyone around to test a small bug for me in 11.04? In the audio preferences, you can choose an audio theme. But the choice of theme isn't always remembered from session to session. There is something really strange going on. It's sometimes remembered and other times not. [09:35] Is bug #777335 something which should be pointed to the ubuntu brainstorm? [09:35] Launchpad bug 777335 in system-config-printer (Ubuntu) (and 1 other project) "Better naming for Printing menu entry (affects: 1) (heat: 6)" [Undecided,New] https://launchpad.net/bugs/777335 [09:36] can someone tell me what package the audio preferences dialog belongs to? [09:36] or even better; how to find out what package a dialog belongs to? [09:37] jo-erlend, gnome-volume-control [09:38] thanks. [09:38] JoshuaL, uh... That package isn't installed here. [09:39] https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage [09:39] I mean when you click the audio indicator and select preferences. [09:39] jo-erlend, odd [09:39] When I click it it says Sound Preferences, it then opens gnome-volume-control [09:40] right. It does. dpkg -L gnome-volume-control said it wasn't installed. I assume that means the command doesn't come from that package? [09:41] it says the same for me [09:42] moment [09:43] jo-erlend, gnome-media is the right package [09:52] JoshuaL, thanks. :) [09:52] I filed a bug: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-media/+bug/777661 [09:52] Launchpad bug 777661 in gnome-media (Ubuntu) "gnome-volume-control doesn't /always/ remember sound theme between sessions (affects: 1) (heat: 6)" [Undecided,New] [10:03] jo-erlend, the bug reports looks good to me. maybe a good idea to add the version number of the package. [10:04] oh, I thought the bug would be for natty and so the version number should be implicit? [10:05] but I'm going to add a comment to the thread anyway, so I can include the version number then in any case. [10:06] you can edit your summary [10:08] that bug is really strange. I've logged in and out about thirty times, and I'm completely unable to predict the result each time. Very strange. [10:23] it seems that time is of the essence in that bug. The theme setting isn't saved immediately like the rest of the settings in the dialog, so if you log out after making a change, it doesn't work as expected. Strange behaviour, but I guess it should be easy to fix for someone with experience with it. [10:24] jo-erlend, describe all the info you find in the bug to make it easier for the developers to find the issue :) [10:26] yes, I did. [10:26] well, I think I did. If you have the time, please have a look. [10:29] to me it looks good enough, no idea what the experts think of it :) [10:37] now, this second bug is more difficult for me to report. The problem is that after a clean install of 11.04, the login sound for the loginscreen is enabled, but gnome-control-center shows it as disabled. If you enable it, then nothing happens, but if you then disable it again, then it is disabled and everything is fine. The question is; does that bug belong to gnome-control-center or to gdm? [10:39] jo-erlend, might be related to bug #675918 [10:39] Launchpad bug 675918 in gdm (Ubuntu) "Login sound plays when 'Play login sound' is un-checked (affects: 6) (dups: 2) (heat: 50)" [Low,New] https://launchpad.net/bugs/675918 [11:10] https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubiquity/+bug/744987 [11:10] Launchpad bug 744987 in ubiquity (Ubuntu) "choose local mirror during install (affects: 1) (heat: 96)" [Undecided,New] [11:10] does ubiquity already handle local mirror distribution through mirror.ubuntu.com ? [11:14] JoshuaL, that's the one. Thanks. :) [11:14] np [12:05] is it just me or is there no list of subscribers in bug 713922? [15:55] jibel: doesnt that progress bar window use gtk? [15:57] RedSingularity, indeed it uses gtk widgets like most of the dialogs in a gnome environment. But the reporter says 'the Updates Progress Dialog is not becoming visible' [15:57] not only the progress bar [15:58] jibel: what issue is that? [15:59] jibel: hmmm but it seems to work when using it as another user. I asked him to try it as su and it worked fine. I guess i figured it cant be a problem with the update-manager itself because it works fine under other accounts. [15:59] seb128, the 'applying changes' dialog of update-manager is not appearing when the user installs the updates. [16:00] RedSingularity, Does it see the authentication dialog ? [16:00] well the core files i guess [16:00] s/it/he [16:00] for the record it works fine here, I'm installing some updates [16:00] pedro_, here as well, that's why I think it is a system specific issue. [16:00] it might be, yes [16:00] and that's the only user reporting it. [16:01] RedSingularity, is that a clean installation or an upgrade? [16:01] jibel: yeah. I have not even tried to reproduce because I believe it to be local as well. [16:01] pedro_: clean install. Looks like beta2 though. [16:02] m odd, haven't seen anything like that, what if the reporter creates another user profile and try there? [16:02] jibel: I had the user clear the home config files too. No improvement. [16:02] pedro_: well it works fine under SU [16:03] RedSingularity, also ask to execute from the command line as a normal user, did he changed sudo right for this user ? [16:03] eek, crazy things happen when you run those under sudo rather than waiting for the dialog to ask for your password... [16:03] or just using su.. [16:04] pedro_: well gksu.... [16:06] jibel: i did have him execute from terminal as normal user. I was looking for error output. There was none he said. [16:07] jibel: I am not sure if he is getting the policykit password prompt though. I will have to ask him. [16:16] * jibel can't quit vi, the escape key being stuck :( [16:18] hmm so escape is vi's kryptonite? is ctrl emacs' kryptonite? [16:19] sorta. On vi you usually use escape in a philosophical way [16:22] hm emacs = control freak. vi = escape artist. [16:33] RedSingularity, I can't reproduce even by completely disabling polkit and sudo. [17:49] jibel: I didnt think you would be able too :) What do you think I should do with the report? [17:51] jibel: obviously its not a bug with the u-m....I wonder if the problem arises when using another piece of software with a progress bar?
