[16:03] I guess "gaming company" may be misused [16:03] zoopster: it was a "interactive multimedia company." [16:04] ah [16:04] chaynie: I'm starting a new role looking for good consumer apps (games) for the Ubuntu Software Center. [16:04] zoopster: ahh congrats. [16:05] zoopster: I know a lot of the FIEA guys who've been around, so that may be some interesting opportunities. [16:06] FIEA == the EA/UCF venture to make more game developers. Need to confirm my Passport # [18:41] mhall119 cant checin [18:42] let me check my seT though [18:42] 21g to budapest [18:50] There are 3 middle seets in a row for 33 - 36 [18:50] or something like that [18:50] They might let us move once we're in the air [18:51] hey thee ninksink ! [18:54] hello all [18:55] anyone else having problems with unity crashing? I had it happen twice last night within 30 minutes of each other [18:57] I have not experienced it, but I've read on forums of people having problems with it crashing frequently. [18:58] yeah all of a suddent I'll be working and then it just drops to a black screen with just the mouse...and all of X just restarts and puts me at the login screen [18:58] *sudden [19:09] dorgan: What I would do is start up a screen session from a Terminal in gnome, then switch to tty1 (Ctrl+Alt+1), do a screen -rd, and do unity --replace. [19:10] That way, when it crashes, you will have some output to see what is going on. [19:10] When it crashes, you can switch back to tty1, or login, and open the screen session again. [19:10] That's how I usually debug Unity, at least... [19:11] what do you mean by start a screen session from a terminal in gnome? [19:11] dorgan: open Terminal, and run screen [19:12] oh ok [19:12] I don't think screen gets installed by default [19:12] I'll do that the next time I work on the laptop [19:12] ok [19:13] dorgan: So, to explain further.. the reason to do this is because when you start a screen from your Unity session, it will have all the environment and display variables set. [19:13] gotcha [19:13] So when you execute things in tty1, the target will be the display that gnome is. [19:13] Also, screen will stick around when your X session dies... unlike the terminal running in it. [19:13] gotcha [19:14] screen -r is to resume a screen that's already running, instead of starting a new one. [19:22] may have to do: screen -dr if it doesnt detach properly [19:43] itnet7: good point [20:42] Thanks, munz! [22:03] itnet7: ping [22:03] itnet7: ping [22:03] itnet7: ping [22:12] hello everyone
