Gothfunchi11:30
Gothfunci was using oss on karmic, but since a reinstall alsa isn't performing well on the app i need to use and i need to switch back to oss.  problem is no devices are showing up in the app for oss.  am i right in saying that it wasn't really oss anyway, just emulated?11:33
ronjHi, I just upgraded my Dell XPS 16 to Ubuntu 11.04. Microphone used to work great under 10.04 and 10.10, but here I can't get it to work. Pulseaudio is running and in my sound preferences I tried the various "Hardware Profiles", as well as differents "Connectors"... Could anybody help me diagnose? Note: I'm running vanilla Ubuntu at the moment, not UbuntuStudio; I'm asking here because #ubuntu is overcrowded and more audio-compete15:32
ronjnt people are here15:32
ronjGoogle doesn't return much15:33
holsteinronj: o/15:34
holsteinjust like usual15:34
holsteindont trust the labels15:34
holsteini would go into alsamixer15:34
holsteinand install pavucontrol15:35
holsteinand literally carefully tweak *everything*15:35
holsteinyou'll probably just find it mis-labeled somewhere15:35
holsteinronj: if #ubuntu is overcrowded15:35
holsteinyou can always try #ubuntu-beginners15:35
ronjholstein, thanks for the help. I tried all the combinations "Internal audio profile" with "Input Device" in pavucontrol, without success. I don't know alsamixer well, what do you suggest?15:42
ronjI also tried adding options snd-hda-intel model=dell-md6 and options snd-hda-intel model=dell-eq in my alsa-base.conf as mentioned here: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1574035 , without success15:43
ronjgot it solved thanks to the great support from #alsa: http://pastebin.com/VffUrrhL16:14
