When try install 4gb SSD installer expects 5.3gb and Forward button is greyed out. How do I install? [06:54] !mini | tom4ficus [06:54] tom4ficus: The Minimal CD image is very small in size, and it downloads most packages from the Internet during installation, allowing you to select only those you want (the installer is like the one on the !Alternate CD). See https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Installation/MinimalCD [06:54] try that one [06:54] there's a nice feature in ubiquitity or what ever was the name of that installer [06:55] I have slow internet. Will I have to install over net? [06:55] yep [06:55] that's how it fetches packages [06:56] thanks for the help. I guess I should report this as a bug of installer on launchoad [06:58] that has been discussed on lubuntu-desktop mailing-list [06:58] you're not alone [07:01] It also expects internet. Is it same as ubuntuwhere it can download all language packs that I dont need. Also I dont want swap [07:04] bioterror: Didn't jmar have a working ISO? [07:12] Unit193: Indeed, I posted the link to the list, I think... [07:12] Ah, he's gone, too late... [07:13] For the record, my tweaked ISO is downloadable from ftp://ftp.jmarsden.org/pub/lubuntu-11.04.jm1.iso [07:14] gotta remember [07:16] jmarsden: Min size on that is 3G? [07:16] Unit193: 2.7GB, I think. [07:23] jmarsden: Thanks, added! [07:23] Unit193: You're welcome [13:46] hi. is there a way to remove abiword, gnumeric, osmo, pidgin _without_ also removing lubuntu-desktop? [13:57] tomekh: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Lubuntu/Documentation/RemoveLubuntuDesktop [13:57] It's just a transition package to allow it to install properly, it's not a problem for it to be removed. [14:00] yup. [14:01] just remove those packages, you'll be fine. [14:01] ubuntu, and as far as i know, xubuntu and kubuntu, do the same thing [14:43] (l)ubuntu installer wont proceed if disk < 5.3gb. if add an 8gb SD card it proceeds and will install on 4gb SSD but then crashes part way thru install [14:44] can someone1 paste jmarsdens fixeed iso for tom4ficus [14:59] tom4ficus: https://lists.launchpad.net/lubuntu-desktop/msg03820.html is the place to read it up [14:59] Read the disclaimer at the bottom as well [15:06] bioterror: if you can pop it onto my server area, I'll add it to the 'community' part of GetLubuntu, cheers. [15:07] thanks for that info [15:09] tom4ficus: glad to help :) [16:24] For the record, my tweaked ISO is downloadable from ftp://ftp.jmarsden.org/pub/lubuntu-11.04.jm1.iso === james is now known as Guest52938 [18:26] anybody got a clue how i would fix this... [18:30] LXDE + Unity2d :) [18:31] ActionParsnip, you fixed top panel :D [18:31] bioterror: yeaah bwoi [18:31] i'm perfectly content w/o unity. [18:32] even unity-2d [18:32] I use gmrun for almost everything [18:35] hmm brb [18:38] ActionParsnip: do you know the command to start that from terminal?.. cuz i try using the menu and it doesn't start... [18:38] KM0201: for which bit? [18:42] hmm, installing [18:43] KM0201: i had the same issue [18:44] well thats weird [18:44] wonder why it doesn't start from the menu. [18:44] KM0201: not sure, I have it autostarting but had to use command line to get it setup [18:46] dang, that one kinda gives you info overload..lol [18:46] thanks ActionParsnip [18:46] can you make the menu "smaller" when you click on it.. so it doesn't take up the whole screen? [18:47] KM0201: that I'm not sure of but its just python code so should be easy to edit [18:47] "easy"... lol [18:47] assuming you can read python, could contact the developer [18:48] eh, its ok. [18:48] i can live w/ it [18:49] what is that program/command you can run, to duplicate package selection/deselection, repos, etc.. on another machine? i think its like a script [18:56] it's not that easy with conky neither [18:56] :D [18:56] I always get Letters as pictures or no pics at all :D [19:14] Hello, How can I connect to my mobile broadband in Lubuntu? [19:14] Please help [19:15] yes [19:15] I have done so [19:15] that's why there's nm-applet as your network manager ;) [19:17] bioterror, Sorry, I'm a newbie, can u pls tell me the exact method? [19:17] are you using phone or 3G usb device? [19:17] How do I run nm-applet? [19:17] 3G usb device [19:17] it's your network manager in "systray" [19:18] Yeah, but there's no option to create a new mobile broadband network there :( [19:20] click the networking applet, choose "edit connections" then click the mobile broadband tab, and click add [19:21] i'd be more ocncerned, that linux doesn't recognize your mobile usb device.. but... we'll see i guess [19:21] I couldn't find an "Edit connections" option [19:21] where do I get that? [19:21] tham: did you right click your networking applet? [19:22] Yeah. Well, I'm in Windows at the moment, I should perhaps go back to lubuntu and check again. [19:22] Thanks [19:22] .. [19:26] Hi all. I need help about setting up my vnp in Lubuntu. I installed the following packages (zeroconf) avahi-daemon avahi-discover avahi-utils avahi-ui-utils avahi-dnsconfd libnss-mdns service-discovery-applet mdns-scan vinagre and vino. Normally in Ubuntu you just have to run vino-preferences and you can see your local network "nameofyourcomputer".local . Here in Lubuntu if i ping my .local i have an " unknown host .local" and no service is [19:26] discovered. [19:27] Which mean i can not see my lubuntu vnp. :-( [20:29] Hi i am rephrasing my question. How do i set up a vnp discovery system via zeroconf in lubuntu? [23:19] is there a way to have the window contents shown in ALT+TAB? [23:48] hey guys [23:48] great distro [23:48] i have it for about a year in my laptop [23:49] but now i need a 64bit version for my desktop but i can't it in the downloads page [23:49] the .iso is for both ?
