[00:07] hey Symmetri1 [05:53] I don't understand why people are so worried about cellphones, but not worried about computer monitors and the sun, both of which give out significantly more radiation than cellphones [08:56] a good morning to all in Ubuntu land [08:56] morning [09:10] morning all [09:11] Maaz, coffee on [09:11] * Maaz puts the kettle on [09:11] hi Kilos [09:11] hi superfly === Symmetri1 is now known as Symmetria [09:15] Coffee's ready for Kilos! [09:15] Maaz, thanks buddy [09:15] Kilos: no problemo [09:15] heh [09:15] wow, google can make some huge mistakes on occasion [11:38] Good day everyone. [11:39] hi Wolfeyes [11:42] Where can I download the modem-manager archive package "for Kubuntu Natty", (from windows o/s, and save it to flash drive) and then install it when I reboot in ubuntu please? Because I cannot connect with Kubuntu right now. I tried finding it on the install disk but not the archive package. Also having difficulty finding it on the forums. Anyone...! [11:42] Heya Kilos [11:43] heya N8Wulf [11:44] Wolfeyes: you should be able to find it on one of the mirror servers in your browser. [11:44] Do you mean modemmanager? [11:45] Yes but I cannot conect to the server via kubuntu confluency . [11:45] Yes, I know. You can download the package in your browser and save it. [11:45] however, you may find that it depends on other packages that you'l need too [11:46] I'm trying to find a link; you can start by googling modemmanager package natty. [11:46] What architecture? [11:47] Architechture? [11:47] the quickest way is to find an internet connection that you can use, and use your package manager [11:47] Wolfeyes: i386 or amd64 (i.e. 32 or 64 bit) [11:47] i386 [11:47] Wolfeyes: here: http://packages.ubuntu.com/en/natty/modemmanager [11:47] ty confluency let me see what I can get right. Thank you. [11:48] In the download section, follow the link to the architecture (1386). [11:48] *i386 [11:48] Ok. [11:48] Check to see if you have all those dependencies installed. [11:48] I will do that, be back as fast as possible. [12:03] modemmanager should be installed by default in Kubuntu [12:04] Package: modemmanager; New: yes; State: installed; Automatically installed: yes [12:05] Wolfeyes: ^^ [15:34] What a mission... [15:34] But I am connected. Now to get what I need. [15:39] Ty confluency, that didn't work I needed to many extra files above what was asked and the system just wanted to connect to the net constantly. So I got hold of saki3g and managed to connect, but battled a bit as I forgot I had to activate the "Permissions" , "executable file" in order to get it working. But I am busy getting what I need right now, thank you. [15:48] * inetpro wants to be brave and upgrade Hardy LTS server to Lucid [15:49] not sure whether it's such a good idea [15:50] anyway, if I vanish from here you should know that the quassel upgrade failed [15:51] Lol good luck inetpro [15:51] wolfeyes: thanks, I really need that [15:52] So did I 20mins ago lol. [15:52] wolfeyes: the only diff here is that it is also a production system [15:53] wolfeyes: superfly had a good point, modemmanager should be installed by default, I'm suprised you didn't have it [15:53] I know that feeling too, happened to me when I first learnt about Karmic. [15:54] * inetpro is just worried about one thing [15:54] the reboot process at the end of the upgrade process [15:55] * inetpro will have to drive all the way to the remote server farm if it fails to boot [15:55] Sorry tumbleweed I never saw what superfly said, I think I left to early. And I think it was the networkmanager not modem manager (also installed by default) but I was fooling around trying to make it work because it stopped after updates. I think I removed it,lol. But hey that's how beginers learn. Come a long way from when I started with Karmic. [15:56] heh, good to hear :) [15:57] yeah, one learns through mistakes [15:58] Nodz. [15:58] <--- but still very much a beginner. [15:59] superfly: do you use quassel as a client to connect to mxit as well? or Pidgin? [16:01] Maybe kopete.... [16:01] * wolfeyes looks aorund some more. [16:02] wolfeyes: quassel is an IRC client [16:02] I don't connect to mxit [16:03] I don't know if Kopete has a plugin to connect to mxit [16:03] Ok thank you. I am busy looking for it. [16:04] eish! What a day! [16:04] how was your day ppl? [16:05] Heya N8Wulf, quiet but hectic. Battling to get on line. [17:03] hmm...
