gary_posterbenji, I'm trying to get lp2kanban running.  Should I use a system python or a clean python, in your experience?13:24
gary_poster(for buildout)13:25
benjigary_poster: clean13:25
gary_postercool13:25
benjithe buildout includes all dependencies (not that there are that many)13:25
gary_posterbenji, clean python runs setup.py, gets13:25
gary_posterTraceback (most recent call last):13:26
gary_poster  File "setup.py", line 2, in <module>13:26
gary_poster    from setuptools import setup, find_packages13:26
gary_posterImportError: No module named setuptools13:26
gary_posterdirty python? :-)13:26
benjiwell13:26
benjiI guess so.13:26
gary_posterheh13:26
gary_posterok13:26
benjiSounds like another card.13:26
gary_posteractually, it doesn't work with system pythoneither benji! uh...13:27
benjiThis is my first day using Natty and my SSD for work, I hope it goes OK.13:27
gary_posterbac benji danilos gmb kanban now, call in 313:27
benjidarn13:27
gary_posterwe can put in that "download setuptools" snippet13:28
gary_posterbut I dunno why it would be necessary in system python13:28
gary_posterwell, it's not there :-P13:28
gary_posterI'll look at it later13:29
benjik13:29
danilosack13:29
danilosgary_poster, oh, we all have calls today, right?13:47
gary_posterdanilos, oh yeah, that. :-)  yes, we do13:49
bacbenji: which SSD did you get?13:49
benjithe (relatively) new 3rd generation Intel 160G13:50
bacspendy?13:50
* gary_poster wishes 512GB were not >$100013:51
benjiit wasn't too bad, but not cheap: about $32013:51
benjimy mouse hovered over the 300G one for a few seconds, but that bad boy is over $60013:52
gary_posterheh, did they charge you anything for the mouse proximity?13:52
benjigary_poster: yeah, the 600G is $1,20013:52
benjidon't say that too loud or Amazon will come up with 0-click ordering13:53
gary_poster:-)13:53
danilosgary_poster, my fixes: http://paste.ubuntu.com/616717/14:08
gary_postercool thanks danilos14:08
danilosgary_poster, benji: oh, one thing I've been wondering: what happens with multiple card assignees when the lp2kanban script runs?14:09
gary_posterdanilos, I was wondering about that too but not worrrg about it yet. :-)  My intention wast the kanban syncer would only add assignees, never remove them14:09
gary_poster*worrying,  *was14:10
benjiI haven't tested it, but from the way their API works I think only the "primary" assignee will be modified; I don't know how to find out which one is primary from the web UI though14:10
danilosgary_poster, I thought it was the "talk like a pirate day" already :)14:10
gary_posterheh14:10
danilosbenji, gary_poster: ok, cool, so we hope it works just fine14:11
benjihope springs eternal14:11
gary_posteryeah, we'll see, and I think we agree on what we want it to do, so hopefully we can fix it if there are problems14:11
gary_posterdanilos, the reason I changed bug-portlet-subscription.pt was because of the anonymous problem I was talking about.  I'll mess with things so that what I want (request/features/malone.advanced-subscriptions.enabled *and* authenticated) is there14:13
gary_posterbbs14:15
danilosgary_poster, right, cool, I admit to not having tested for anonymous users, but they get what they deserve! :)14:16
gmbIt's a matter of some concern that at no point throughout the 9 months that the advanced-subscriptions flag has existed, has anyone ever spent more than half a second thinking "what about anonymous users?"14:25
gary_posterheh14:28
gary_posteryeah14:28
gary_postergmb, may I call?14:32
gmbgary_poster: Sure14:32
danilosgmb, we want to encourage them to register: "Want to see less OOPSes? Register now!"14:44
gmbHeh14:44
gary_poster:-)14:44
benjigrr, VMs aren't very useful when their networking doesn't work14:48
gary_posterdanilos, call?15:31
danilosgary_poster, yep, ready15:35
* gmb -> out16:14
danilosgary_poster, btw, one thing on your code so far: this change (http://paste.ubuntu.com/616815/) means that you'll insert "unmute and subscribe" radio box in front of the simple "unmute" which is set before the for loop; I think it'd naturally live in the second place instead16:15
gary_posterdanilos, I thought about that.  My logic was that (1) we care most about the JS story; (2) in the JS story, the user clicked the "subscribe" link, not the "unmute" link, so it might be reasonable to assume that they actually want to subscribe.16:16
danilosgary_poster, true, good point, even for the non-JS story16:18
gary_posteryeah, that too16:18
danilos(also, in practice, we are not letting them get to that state easily — hold a mute with no subscription — though it's not impossibly hard either)16:18
gary_posteryeah16:19
gary_posterparticularly with other subscriptions16:19
gary_poster(structural etc.)16:19
danilosbtw, I am not a huge fan of the mute icon ;)16:20
gary_posterlol16:20
gary_posteranything in particular?  and did you prefer the X/checkmark we had before?16:21
danilosgary_poster, nothing in particular, it took me a second or two to figure out that it was a crossed-off envelope16:23
gary_posterheh16:24
gary_postergotcha16:24
danilosgary_poster, fwiw, it just occurred to me that it might work better if it was not crossed-off (it's red already, that should be enough for anybody who's not colour blind ;))16:25
gary_posterdanilos, and did you see we already had a "it's not good enough for the color-blind" comment in the bug, as well as a "I'm color-blind and it works for me"?  Really! :-)16:26
danilosgary_poster, heh, I am red-green colour blind myself (though only some very weird-orangy-browny shades of the two colours), and they "work for me!"16:27
gary_posterheh, ok16:27
danilosheh, I first thought the mute icon was garbled somehow16:27
gary_posterlol16:27
gary_posterdanilos, making MP16:34
danilosgary_poster, cool, I couldn't resist myself commenting on the bug as well :)16:44
gary_posterdanilos, I like the @ idea, but I'm staying away. :-)16:52
gary_posterdanilos, https://code.launchpad.net/~gary/launchpad/bug740631/+merge/6325116:53
danilosgary_poster, btw, did I ever mention how I find it ironic that +subscribe page has nice JS-based animation of the bug notification level sliding in and out? :)16:56
danilosgary_poster, looking at your branch now, what's do_next for on line 223?17:00
danilosah17:00
danilosgary_poster, never mind, scrolled a bit further down :)17:00
danilosgary_poster, fwiw, Y.Lang.isFunction might be a better check for line 232 of the diff17:01
gary_posterdanilos, sorry, back17:03
gary_posterdanilos, sure, will use isFunction.  Was being lazy :-P17:04
danilosgary_poster, all else looks great17:09
gary_postercool, thanks danilos!  I'll push the isFunction change (works fine) and ec2 land17:10
gary_posterabout to go for walk in 90˚F because I want to :-)17:22
gary_posterbiab17:22
benjiI'm hungry.18:22
benjiok, I've applied liberal amounts of Google and I still can't get my VM network up; anyone seen this before?19:08
gary_posterThe only time I have trouble is when the kernel has changed so much that the vmware tools can't adapt19:09
gary_posterIt's possible that the tools aren't quite ready for natty yet19:09
benjiI think my next task is to install a clean OS in a new VM to see if it works or not, at least that would let me bifurcate the problem space.19:10
benjigary_poster: do you mean natty on the host side or as the VM OS?19:10
gary_posterI'm quietly using maverick still, fwiw.  I've been thinking about setting up a separate boot for Ubuntu, but that will take time...and disk space I don't really have19:10
gary_posterVM os19:10
benjiI'm natty on the outside and maverick in the VM19:10
gary_posteroic19:11
benjiit's like an ubuntu sandwich19:11
gary_poster:-)19:11
benjiI had a very similar problem when I cloned my lucid VM, the clone couldn't do networking, but in that case the interfaces just got renumbered (eth0 became eth1) and relabeling them fixed it, this time the interface doesn't even show up in ifconfig's output19:12
benjiok, I'll make a new VM and do maverick install into it to see if its networking works19:13
gary_postergood luck :-/19:13
benjiHow much work would a network work if a network could work nets?19:13
gary_poster:-)19:16
gary_posterbac, ready when you are19:31
bacok, was just about to ping you19:31
gary_postergimme a call when you are ready19:31
benjiSuccess!  The network works!20:42
gary_posteryay, benji!  on the new vm, or the old one?20:58
benjiboth!20:58
gary_posterexcellent :-)20:58
gary_posterbenji, please gimme a call when you are ready21:03
gary_posterno rush21:03
