shomonhi, I just installed lubuntu, because I had this boot disc... but I installed on a quite new laptop.. how can I change it into normal ubuntu?00:03
shomonor failing that what packages do I need for lamp - same as my equivalent version of ubuntu?00:05
bodhi_zazenlubuntu is a normal ubuntu =)00:05
bodhi_zazenDepends on if you just want a lamp stack, or to add gnome00:05
bodhi_zazenapt-get install ubuntu-desktop would pull in gnome00:05
bodhi_zazenFor lamp see : https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ApacheMySQLPHP00:06
shomonbodhi_zazen: sorry I was away there ok will do an apt install of ubuntu-desktop00:19
bodhi_zazennp shomon00:19
shomonand I'm getting tasksel to do the lamp bit... so I'll check that link in case I'm doing the wrong thing00:20
bodhi_zazenThat link should have most anything you need re LAMP stack00:20
phillwbodhi_zazen: I understand that they have dropped tasksel from ubuntu?00:24
bodhi_zazenDid not see that phillw , I don't use tasksel much, well at all00:25
bodhi_zazenapt-get FTW00:25
phillwit is handy for newcommers, but there is always pressure on what stays in. I've not had it absolutely confirmed.00:26
bodhi_zazenphillw: zenix is getting good reviews00:27
bodhi_zazenhttp://crunchbanglinux.org/forums/post/12564900:27
bodhi_zazenbetter then my first spin, lol00:27
phillwgreat to hear, as is lubuntu... we'll give them a good run :P00:27
bodhi_zazenlubuntu has made a lot of progress00:28
phillwI look forward to seeing Zenix on DistroWatch. Let's see it catch up with the other 'old' and bloated releases :)00:30
phillwthey all look pretty positive to me :)00:33
phillwwell, 00:35 here... time for bed!00:34

nuovo85hello, I want to install Lubuntu on my PC but does not recognize my wireless connection and even the ethernet connection. What do I need to connect to intenret and solve the problem, thanks18:22
leszeknuovo85: you need the right drivers I guess. Which LAN and WLAN chips do you have ?18:32
bioterrorb c m :D18:32
bioterrorcant be anything else18:33
nuovo85leszek I have broadcom18:33
leszekthen you need to download the broadcom drivers from here: http://packages.ubuntu.com/natty/firmware-b43-installer18:36
leszekhmm... aren't those already included on the lubuntu cd ? bioterror?18:36
nuovo85how to install?18:38
leszeknuovo85: if you have luck they are already in the local repository on the livecd so you need only to activate the cd in synaptic as source and install this package18:38
leszekfirmware-b43-installer18:38
leszekb43-fwcutter18:38
bioterrorI had problems with HP EliteBook 8440p with bcm18:40
bioterrordidnt want to work18:40
leszekhopefully the opensource broadcom drivers will solve this issue in the near future (linux 3.0)18:41

KM0201leszek: id ont' think b43 supports the b59's18:53
leszekits supported by them as its working here xD18:55
KM0201leszek: is it supported by the b43 driver though?18:58
bioterror09:00.0 Ethernet controller: Broadcom Corporation NetXtreme BCM5752 Gigabit Ethernet PCI Express (rev 02)18:58
KM0201b43 .. is for the broadcom 4306, 4309, etc.18:58
KM0201bioterror: thats not a wireless device.18:58
bioterrorthat's supported by kernel itself18:58
bioterrorKM0201, so is 5906M18:59
KM0201the 5906 isn't a wireless? i thought it was.18:59
bioterrorFYI: http://linuxwireless.org/en/users/Drivers/b4318:59
leszekhmm... I don't see b43 loaded in lsmod xD19:00
leszekah its tg3 I guess which makes the bcm59 work19:02

bioterrorI just had a one good mug of coffee22:11
Unit193I was planning on making some (I was thinking that's what you do, but if I was wrong....)22:12
bioterrorI solved a mystery22:13
head_victimI don't want coffee. I've been awake since 3pm yesterday and it's now just after 7am :)22:14
bioterrorwhy I was so damn spaced out after a mug of coffee and I noticed that aeropresses measurement thingie is a bigger than average. it has coffee worth of 4 cups22:17
bioterrorso when I put 2 measures of coffee and mixed it with water, I had actually doubled the normal ammount of coffee what I'm used to drink22:18
head_victimI'm getting a "permission denied" error when I've gone to open pcmanfm to the default /home/user which is the currently logged in user23:58
