vegerI added a feature request, see bug 791823, could someone set it the importance to WishList?13:34
ubot4`Launchpad bug 791823 in evolution (Ubuntu) (and 1 other project) "Closing opened subfolders after moving a message (affects: 1) (heat: 6)" [Undecided,New] https://launchpad.net/bugs/79182313:34
pedro_veger, done13:35
vegerthanks13:36
=== pedro_ changed the topic of #ubuntu-bugs to: http://is.gd/Y7bg9k Evolution Bug Day!, join us! | Ubuntu Bug Squad - next meeting 6/9/11 | http://wiki.ubuntu.com/BugSquad | Documentation: http://wiki.ubuntu.com/HelpingWithBugs | Want to report a bug? Read https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs | User support (not related to triage) is in #ubuntu
stlsaintif i were to triage bugs from other ubuntu variants, IE: Kubuntu, edubuntu, lubuntu, would that work still count towards making membership?13:38
pedro_stlsaint, as long as being done in LP, yes13:43
stlsaintpedro_: ok thanks13:47
pedro_you're welcome13:50
vegerAs I am kinda new (and still waiting for a mentor), could someone show me some pointer so I can help with the evolution bug day?13:53
vegerI read the wiki page already13:53
njinhello, why if i launch hugday list i've got Assertion Error?13:59
pedro_veger, just ask here in the channel , there's plenty of people willing to help :-)14:12
pedro_njin, hey!, it works fine here, are you using the version from bzr ?14:12
pedro_bzr branch lp:ubuntu-qa-tools , there is the latest version , that works fine for me14:13
njinpedro_. hello, yes14:13
njinuhm, no i'm not using that14:13
pedro_njin, probably was the links, could you try now? i've fixed the links on the page14:13
njini'm trying now14:13
pedro_bugs were listed with 'launchpad.net/blah' instead of 'bugs.launchpad.net/blah'14:14
njinpedro_: ok14:14
vegerpedro_: so, I should pick a bug from the page and take a look at it according to the notes aboven the list?14:14
pedro_veger, yes, exactly that14:15
pedro_veger, you can also pick any bug from the lp page of that product : https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/evolution14:16
pedro_not all the bugs are listed in the wiki page, cause there's *quite* a lot of them14:16
vegerok, I'll take a look to see whether I can be of any help with one of the bugs14:16
njinbug 769229 closed because reportr unsubscribed14:29
ubot4`Launchpad bug 769229 in evolution (Ubuntu) "evolution hang when using imap (affects: 1) (heat: 4)" [Medium,Invalid] https://launchpad.net/bugs/76922914:29
njinpedro_:^^14:29
pedro_njin, that's ok, we need a backtrace and the reporter didn't provide it...14:31
njinbug 780400 reassigned to xorg to collect data (hotkey not working)14:38
ubot4`Launchpad bug 780400 in xorg (Ubuntu) "Unable to start Evolution from keyboard (affects: 1) (heat: 8)" [Undecided,Incomplete] https://launchpad.net/bugs/78040014:38
njinbug 781197 reassigned and request if experiencing more crashes, request to reinstall evolution -data-server14:50
ubot4`Launchpad bug 781197 in evolution-data-server (Ubuntu) "evolution crashed with SIGSEGV in camel_partition_table_lookup() (affects: 1) (heat: 10)" [Undecided,Incomplete] https://launchpad.net/bugs/78119714:50
njinpedro_: sorry i'm starting hugday... promise ^^14:51
pedro_njin, remember to close the bugs at the wiki page too14:54
njinok14:55
njinhello, can someone tell me where is cookies.sqlite, search cannot found it !15:08
roadmrnjin: find ~ -iname cookies* , I see a couple under .mozilla/firefox/xxxxxx.default/ and .thunderbird/xxxxxx.default/15:09
njinroadmr.thanks15:10
jibelnjin, locate is your friend too:15:27
jibellocate cookies.sqlite15:27
njinjibel: thanks15:27
vegerthe hugday tool from ubuntu-qa-tools gives an 'AssertionError:'. The bzr version seems to work better. Does the (official) package need an update?15:35
vegerso i confirmed bug 790014, should I add a upsteam report as well. Or is it finished and should I make the report on the wiki page green (indicated it has been processed)?15:46
ubot4`Launchpad bug 790014 in evolution (Ubuntu) "index says there is an unread message, but in fact there is no mesage (affects: 2) (heat: 10)" [Undecided,Confirmed] https://launchpad.net/bugs/79001415:46
pedro_veger, that sounds like a duplicate15:50
vegeroh15:50
pedro_could be bug https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=57754215:50
ubot4`Gnome bug 577542 in Mailer "Incorrect unread count displayed" [Major,New]15:50
pedro_https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=62705915:50
ubot4`Gnome bug 627059 in BugBuddyBugs "Unread message(s) shown in folder view though there are none in folder" [Normal,Unconfirmed]15:50
pedro_there's a few about unread count at the upstream bug tracker15:51
vegerI did not check LP for duplicate report as well15:51
pedro_on LP : bug 36514015:52
ubot4`Launchpad bug 365140 in evolution (Ubuntu) (and 1 other project) "Evolution displays folder as unread even though all mail in it is read (affects: 8) (dups: 2) (heat: 11)" [Low,Triaged] https://launchpad.net/bugs/36514015:52
pedro_feel free to mark it as a duplicate and set the wiki page as green :-)15:52
pedro_thanks for helping veger!15:52
vegerok I will do that, thanks for your help as well :)15:53
vegernext time I'll try and find duplicates as well15:53
vegerpedro_: another question: do I need to change the status from Confirmed (to Invalid) after marking the bug as duplicate?15:54
pedro_veger that doesn't really matter , just leave the old status (confirmed)15:56
vegerok15:56
roadmrpedro: I confirmed bug 776972, should I set both affected projects to confirmed? Also, I think it should be importance: high (accessibility of core application - can't really maximize on a netbook in non-english languages)16:49
ubot4`Launchpad bug 776972 in evolution (Ubuntu) (and 1 other project) "Can't maximise evolution (affects: 1) (heat: 138)" [Undecided,New] https://launchpad.net/bugs/77697216:49
pedro_roadmr, i've seen that before in netbook remix, probably is a duplicate16:56
pedro_roadmr, i don't think it's a high importance bug though, the application works, only the maximise doesn't correctly16:56
pedro_medium or low depending on the quantity of users affected16:57
roadmrpedro_: I'll dive into evolution bugs, see if I can find a dupe16:57
pedro_looks like another of the nice side effects of bug https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=26778716:57
ubot4`Gnome bug 267787 in Miscellaneous "Evolution is unusable in 800x600 or 1024x768" [Normal,New]16:57
roadmrpedro_: yep, that gnome bug looks like it16:58
pedro_bug 2381016:59
=== ara_ is now known as ara
ubot4`Launchpad bug 23810 in evolution (Ubuntu) (and 2 other projects) "Evolution is unusable in 1024x768 (affects: 65) (dups: 22) (heat: 375)" [Low,Triaged] https://launchpad.net/bugs/2381016:59
pedro_that's the one tracking it at lp16:59
roadmrpedro_: importance: medium instead of high, I agree, part of the window is not usable but it's only 4 pixels (in french at least)16:59
pedro_roadmr, you can mark it as dup of that one and then raise the importance of the master to Medium17:00
roadmrwhoa, so it's been around for quite a while :)17:00
roadmrpedro_: done with the duping but I can't set importance :( (no bugcontrol) could you please help with that?17:02
pedro_njin, don't forget to add comments to the bugs when you change the status/importance :-)17:02
njinok17:03
vegeroh... I did not change the importance (well I personally cannot do that), should I do this before moving on to the next bug?17:03
pedro_roadmr, done! :-)17:03
roadmrthanks pedro_ !17:03
pedro_you're welcome, thanks for helping!17:03
pedro_veger, you can ask in the channel for someone to set the importance for you, just give a little explaining on the why changing it and will do it17:04
vegerI understand, my question was more like: it is required? :)17:04
vegerif so, i'll revisit the previous bugs I looked at17:05
pedro_veger, yes the idea is to also set the right importance for those bugs were there's enough info to determine it17:06
brendandveger - it get's you karma :)17:06
brendandthis bug is annoying and in a core application, so i think 'medium'17:06
brendandhttps://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/evolution/+bug/77939817:06
ubot4`Launchpad bug 779398 in evolution (Ubuntu) "horizontal preview bar (affects: 1) (heat: 134)" [Undecided,Confirmed]17:06
brendandit's stuff like that which is why i use thunderbird17:07
brendanddoesn't save the ui adjustments :/17:07
yofelthe importance should generally be set as soon as possible, and you get some exercise in deciding on the right importance :)17:07
brendandshould i raise an upstream bug? i haven't seen anything matching that in gnome bugzilla17:09
vegerbug 778194, I think the importance is low, as it does not really influence evolution and there is an easy work-around: just kill the application...17:09
ubot4`Launchpad bug 778194 in evolution (Ubuntu) (and 1 other project) "Evolution does not quit if operations are pending (affects: 1) (heat: 6)" [Undecided,Confirmed] https://launchpad.net/bugs/77819417:09
pedro_i think i've seen that preview pane somewhere...17:09
pedro_brendand, bug 77734017:10
ubot4`Launchpad bug 777340 in evolution (Ubuntu) (and 1 other project) "Previw pane does keep it last position (affects: 1) (heat: 161)" [Low,Triaged] https://launchpad.net/bugs/77734017:10
pedro_and there's a typo in the title17:10
brendandpedro_ thanks, i'll dupe the other one17:11
pedro_brendand, you're welcome, thanks for helping!17:12
pedro_veger, yeah low seems ok17:12
roadmrwow, either pedro is very, very familiar with evolution bugs, or we're sucking at looking for duplicates beforehand :( heheh17:12
pedro_veger, did you send it upstream? :-)17:12
pedro_veger, please don't forget to put a link to the bug in launchpad, so the upstream maintainers can have a look to it if there's more info from users17:13
vegerpedro_: yes I did as I could not find a similar report upstream17:13
brendandroadmr - well, the previw wouldn't have helped find it :)17:13
pedro_haha indeed17:13
vegerI added the link at the 'see also' field, as my previous upstream report got that one added by another user17:13
pedro_veger, awesome, it's great you're doing that, thanks a lot :-)17:14
vegerpedro_: could you set the importance? :)17:14
brendandsometimes i find it amazing how such different language can be used to describe the exact same bug17:14
pedro_veger, doing it now and i'll change the importance to Triaged17:14
vegerpedro_: ok, thanks17:17
vegerbug 781851 seems to be a request to me, so it should have a wishlist importance I suppose?17:23
ubot4`Launchpad bug 781851 in evolution (Ubuntu) "evolution 2.32.2 no longer allows changing keyboard shortcuts (affects: 1) (heat: 251)" [Undecided,New] https://launchpad.net/bugs/78185117:23
vegerunless it was unintentional and indeed is a bug...17:24
hggdhveger, assume it was unintentional (unless the changelog states it was taken out)17:29
vegerok, I'll check the changelog17:30
vegerok, it is a bug :)17:32
vegerbefore submitting it upstream, I suppose I need to check whether it is a packinging problem?17:33
arandveger: Often best to, people can get noyyed if you ask them to solve others' messes ;)17:35
vegerarand: agree! :) Any hint on how I could check this?17:36
arandBuild from source, commonly.17:37
bdmurraypedro_: desktopcouch is not a desktop team package right?17:37
vegerbuilding evolution from source? heh... I'll try...17:38
arandveger: In the case ov evolution, that can be a pain, but still.. You may want to test updated packages as well.17:38
arandveger: unstable/oneiric17:38
pedro_bdmurray, nope , that's being maintained by the online folks (ubuntu one hackers i think)17:39
pedro_veger, no need to , editing the xml file is an old workaround to change the shorcuts , better to open an enhancement request for that in the upstream BTS not sure if they're going to implement it though but we cannot decide for them :-P17:40
vegerpedro_: an enhancement request like 'please add a configuration option to configure keyboard shortcuts'?17:41
pedro_yeah something like that17:42
vegerok, i'll do that17:42
pedro_thanks!17:42
vegerpedro_: could you change the importance to wishlist?17:48
pedro_veger, done!17:51
vegerthanks17:51

ubot4`Gnome bug 567870 in Mailer "Evolution mail list ignores locale settings when displaying date / time" [Normal,Unconfirmed]19:37
hggdhbrendand, perfect, mind adding the upstream bug?19:38
berdariohello... I don't want to bother anyone but, I was wondering...19:40
berdariosince I reported a bug several months ago, and nobody looked at it... until a triager passed by, flagged it as "incomplete", and asked me to reproduce it once again19:41
hggdhberdario, hello. Instead of worrying about bothering us, just shoot your question/doubt ;-)19:41
berdarioif this bug would've been a strange bug... like something related to my configuratio or my hardware... that would've been fine19:41
berdariobut this was a quite simple UI bug19:41
hggdhberdario, can you give us the bug # (type in 'bug #####', where #### is the bug number)19:41
berdariobug 64763219:42
ubot4`Launchpad bug 647632 in evolution (Ubuntu) "Find in text message doesn't warn about no matching found (affects: 1) (heat: 6)" [Low,New] https://launchpad.net/bugs/64763219:42
berdarioI understand that this is a voluntary effort19:42
berdario(like for me reporting the bug, after all)19:42
berdariobut isn't flagging it as "incomplete", when the triager could've reproduced it on his own, somewhat a bad practice?19:43
berdarioespecially since, after some days, an "incomplete" bug automatically expires, and thus it's "partly lost" (ok, nothing really gets ever lost... it's everything still there on launchpad...)19:44
pedro_berdario, nope is not a bad practice19:45
pedro_you're welcome to send it upstream though since you can reproduce the issue19:45
pedro_upstream being bugzilla.gnome.org product evolution19:45
hggdhberdario, well, generically yes. But this was most probably pedro on a script, working on bugs that had been opened for a long time19:45
berdarioyes, I see that pedro is handling most of the evolution bugs19:46
berdario(and unfortunately evolution has been quite neglected upstream since months/years)19:46
hggdhactually you should say that almost nobody but pedro is working on the evo bugs19:46
hggdh(in other words... help is welcome ;-)19:46
pedro_berdario, they are quite responsive19:47
pedro_i usually get a answer to bugs i've filed there19:47
pedro_it takes time to fix those, yes, but at least you're getting a response19:47
pedro_they work on things like crashes first and then fix some other important bugs19:48
berdarioyes, but I installed natty only very recently... I find it difficult to get more involved with bug triaging :P (besides, now I don't use evolution anymore)19:48
berdarioyes19:48
berdarioI remember also reporting another (actually, more than 1) bugs about evolution19:49
berdariounfortunately I got stuck when trying to get a valgrind log19:49
berdario(valgrind itself was crashing... talk about yak-shaving )19:49
pedro_heh running evo in valgrind that's really painful :-P19:49
berdarioI was thinking...19:49
berdarioall the hardware bugs *should* have an "hardware" tag, right?19:50
berdarioI mean... bugs depending on some particular kernel module19:50
berdario(I'm just brainstorming)19:51
berdarionope... I was just thinking that maybe that script that hggdh was talking about... could be improved to skip certain kind of bugs, given some tags that these bugs have19:52
berdariobut by looking at 3/4 old bugs... I don't see enough meaningful tags for this purpose19:53
=== deryck[lunch] is now known as deryck
brendandhggdh - did do19:54
vegerbug 411528 reports a problem with manpages, I tried to reproduce it by running mandb -c and I do get some problems, but not the described problem with the evolution manpage. Should I set the bug to FixReleased as it seems to be fixed along the route (the report is quite old)19:55
ubot4`Launchpad bug 411528 in evolution (Ubuntu) "evolution bad symlink in man1 (affects: 1) (heat: 7)" [Low,Confirmed] https://launchpad.net/bugs/41152819:55
hggdhberdario, not really for the hardware tag -- it would not mean much, given that most of the kernel bugs we have deal with haradware19:56
hggdhand... for the record... last time I ran evo under valgrind... it took 15 min for evo to finish initialising19:57
berdariohggdh: yes, and obviously the kernel should be unrelated to the bugs affecting evolutin19:57
hggdh:-)19:57
berdarioafk for dinner19:58
charlie-tcaveger: without knowing when it was fix released, unless you are using Oneiric, close it as invalid with a comment that it is fixed by an unknown fix19:58
charlie-tcaveger: this one - https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Responses#Bugs%20resolved%20after%20update%20or%20config%20change19:59
