erichammondUsing Natty I've turned off "Window Decoration" as I use key combinations to do window moving/resizing/close/etc.  I'm almost completely happy, but would like to have a very thin border around my windows (no title bar).  Is there a decoration option/theme for this?00:03
dave92082greetings all00:16

pleia2we have a few san diego folks00:29
dave92082I figured with having Qualcomm here and all we (San Diego) would have an active group00:44

The_Letter_MHello05:16
pleia2evening05:16
The_Letter_MHow are you tonight?05:17
pleia2good, you?05:17
The_Letter_MI'm good05:17
The_Letter_Mrecently switch from Ubuntu to Fedora 15 and then back to Kubuntu05:18
The_Letter_MNow I have a weird issue05:18
The_Letter_MI installed the proprietary Nvidia driver and have since rebooted. Now when I go to "Additional Drivers" it says "the driver is activated but not in use". How do I force Kubuntu to use it?05:20
The_Letter_MAny ideas on how to fix this?05:24
The_Letter_MHmm05:32
The_Letter_MI do lsmod and it shows Nvidia instead of novou (however it's spelled)05:33
The_Letter_MI take it that means I'm good05:33
* pleia2 isn't all that familiar with kubuntu05:34
pleia2but yeah, that should mean you're fine05:34
The_Letter_MIf my system is locking up on shutdown, where would I find the logs?05:38
pleia2probably syslog or dmesg, but it depends on where it's locking up (after the logging daemons are shut down? no longs)05:39
pleia2s/longs/logs05:39
The_Letter_MHow do I enable the ACPI Log?05:46

iheartubuntuare there any added benefits (such as speed) for using the nvidia drivers? my computer is running fine right now and im not planning on playing any 3D games. any detriments for using the base setup?19:40
pleia2if it's fine, I wouldn't mess with it :)19:41
akkI think the drivers are for 3d games and maybe high-def fullscreen video.19:41
pleia2I usually only enable the proprietary drivers when something is wrong/missing from my experience19:42
pleia2(the open source broadcom driver works for my wifi card, but range is terrible and it disconnects frequently, so I had to install the other one)19:43
iheartubuntuso i would be fine doing inkscape, gimp, etc even without the nvidia drivers19:43
pleia2probably19:44
rwwyes19:44
akkNone of those should need the proprietary drivers.19:44
iheartubuntugood good. thinks seem faster without them :)19:45
nhainesWell, that was exciting.  The building just got evacuated, then they sounded the all clear and now we're back.23:08
pleia2happy friday :)23:09
nhainespleia2: thanks!  :)23:26
nuboon2ageI'm thinking i'll postpone the Ubuntu Hour: Palo Alto to another date since no one has signed up for it jtatum , pleia2, aaditya , crashsystems1 , crashsystems23:57
nuboon2ageMarkDude: how was The Maker Faire.  Sorry I missed it.23:58
pleia2yikes, canceling with only 3 hour notice?23:58
pleia2we really want to avoid canceling on such short notice :(23:58
nuboon2agepostponing pleia2, but i don't know anyone who's coming.23:59
nuboon2agebesides me.23:59
pleia2not everyone can use loco directory for registration, and a lot of folks work and don't check channel before coming down23:59
nuboon2agei'm willing to still do it, but there've been several times where i did solo efforts and you know how unfun that is pleia223:59
