djiefoi mean i created the launcher, but the command line is wrong because its not working at all13:23
djiefoSomeone can help me? I've been on this problem for so long... :(14:14
djiefoI'm using xubuntu 11.04. Minecraft runs well :) The only thing is that I linked minecraft.jar in the desktop, but I can't change the icon in fil properties. I tried to create a launcher but i dunno wich command to write. The main file path is: /home/djiefo/minecraft.jar14:14
charlie-tcathe .jar is a java application, I don't know how to create a launcher to start them14:15
djiefoyeah... same :(14:16
charlie-tcaTry looking in /usr/share/applications/minecraft    using mousepad to see what the exec= says14:16
charlie-tcabut , as a .jar, you might not be able to change their icon14:16
djiefotheres any way to create a shortcut to a terminal command in desktop?14:18
charlie-tcayes, there is14:18
djiefoI font have enough knowledge to run in throught terminal so14:18
djiefopath is: /home/djiefo/minecraft.jar14:19
djiefojava614:19
charlie-tcacreate the launcher, click on run in terminal14:19
djiefowhat could be the corext command syntax?14:20
djiefocorrect*14:20
charlie-tcaif you are on Xubuntu 11.04, create the launcher, right click after you finish, click edit (the pencil), click on "run in terminal"14:20
charlie-tcawhat is the exact command you use in terminal?14:21
djiefoi'm not using any command to it, I create a link to the desktop14:21
djiefoIt runs well14:21
djiefoBut not the good icon14:21
djiefoi just dunno wich command use for runs it through terminal14:22
charlie-tcaI don't know either. I don't have the game14:22
charlie-tcawhat did it say the exec was?14:22
djiefoit runs with Java14:22
charlie-tcaso, it said exec= java ?14:23
djiefocharlie-tca,  The file '/home/djiefo/Desktop/Minecraft0.desktop' is not marked as executable.  If this was downloaded or copied from an untrusted source, it may be dangerous to run.  For more details, read about the executable bit.14:25
charlie-tcaright click it, open with....    mousepad14:26
djiefowhats mousepad?14:26
djiefoi dont have it14:26
charlie-tcadid minecraft create the launcher or did you?14:26
charlie-tcamousepad is the editor in Xubuntu14:26
charlie-tcaWhjat14:26
charlie-tcaWhat are you using?14:27
charlie-tcaUbuntu, Kubuntu, ???14:27
djiefominecraft is a java game... im using xubuntu 11.04... When u download the game from source it's called minecraft.jar   you need to install Java6 to run it.14:28
charlie-tcaIf you are using Xubuntu, you have mousepad14:28
charlie-tcaThen I don't know how to run it in terminal.14:28
djiefoi don't see any mousepad by click clicking on minecraft.jar14:28
charlie-tcaapparently, I don't have the game14:29
djieforight clicking14:29
djiefohuh ok14:29
charlie-tcaI would guess you can not change the icon, since it is a jar file14:29
djiefoI know that now.14:29
djiefoBut how to create a redirect to it14:29
djiefoLike a shortcut that automaticly runs the file minecraft.ar in path:    /home/desktop/minecraft.jar14:30
djiefoI could change the icon of this redirect cause i will not be a JAR it will be a shortcut14:31
charlie-tcaMaybe someone else will know how to do that. I don't think I have any .jar files, myself14:38
djiefojava -Xmx1024M -Xms512M - jar ~/home/djiefo/Minecraft.jar net.minecraft.LauncherFrame14:40
djiefo...not working14:40
djiefoi tried sudo java  - jar ~/home/djiefo/Minecraft.jar net.minecraft.LauncherFrame in terminal... not working14:43
djiefoi mean if I could bu atleast able to run it trough terminal it will give me the command to enter in the launcher editory14:46

CrazyGirhello! what is the proper way to restart networking in xubuntu - the primary goal is to reinitialize the ethX interfaces/refresh dhcp, etc18:07
ThermiCrazyGir in therminal: sudo /etc/init.d/networking restart18:13
Sysiservice network(manager) restart is modern way18:14
Sysii'm not sure if network and networkmanager are same scripts18:14
CrazyGirthe init.d method barks at you that it is deprecated18:17
CrazyGirand it takes my interfaces down without bringing them back up18:17
CrazyGir(sometimes it is fine)18:17

Thermion Debian, there also is restart o.O18:25
pleia2Thermi: init is different on xubuntu :)18:26
Thermiyes, that's what i noticed now18:26
pleia2service $foo start/stop/restart is the new way to manipulate services18:26
Thermibut i thought it was similiar, because Xubuntu is a derivate of Debian :X18:26
Thermiok :p18:26
pleia2debian uses sysvinit, ubuntu uses upstart, very different systems18:26
Thermioooh18:27
Thermiok18:27
pleia2it's one of the ways it diverged from debian :)18:27
Thermi:(18:27
Thermiservice networking also only gives me start and stop :X18:27
Thermiseems like restart got lost18:27
pleia2it depends on the service, most should still have restart scripts18:28
