[16:58] Guest32909: i would try getting a normal 10.04 live CD [16:58] see if you can get to the desktop, and run the disk test while you are there [16:59] also, you could partition with something else and see if it installs.. ive used the 10.04 install disk though and all as well [16:59] I ran the disk test successfully, I have the same result with the 11.04 disks as well [17:02] Guest32909: you can get to a live destop though? with one of the normal desktop CD's? [17:05] I used the expert method and thats where it stopped. I not using raid, just Serial ATA [17:05] yeah, that *should* be just fine... [17:05] Guest32909: in the spirit of troubleshooting, i wouuld probably try installing with a normal desktop CD [17:06] Its crazy, I know, it should just install..... I was just hoping for an automatic solution because this system just sits there hosting files. [22:36] yup [22:36] a shell script [22:36] rsync [22:37] that was one I saw too. Would I use cron to run the script on a schedule then? [22:38] AFAIK, you can use what you would like [22:40] what would you recommend to auto run the script, say, daily? [22:42] TheRevRuss: i havent needed to set that up personally, so i can only go on the fact that cron would be my first guess [22:45] @holstein - alright, I'll give it a shot. Thanks for the help! [22:45] TheRevRuss: sure... good luck :) [22:46] stick around too, im sure someone with that experience will come along [22:47] from what I'm seeing, I think you're right - it's a simple solution at least for now.
