darren_I've been having trouble with wireless networking since upgrading to 11.10 alpha. It looks like my wireless card isn't being configured, its state is down.  dmesg shows iwlagn reports for Intel(R) WiFi Link 5100 AGN, REV=0x54, but when I scan for networks none are identified. Is there any information available on the web, do I need to install a different driver or change some configuration to enable wireless?14:23
darren_also, the icon for plasma-widget-networkmanagement is a red box with a white x in it14:25

genii-aroundIs anyone else having Nautilus opening automatically every boot with Kubuntu, even though it's not in autostart?15:30
BUGabundogenii-around: a while back15:31
BUGabundothen it fixed it15:31
BUGabundoand we still don't have startup manager15:31
charlie-tcagenii-around: yes, it pulls in with a gdm update a couple of days ago. Xubuntu has the same issue15:36
charlie-tcaI just removed nautilus, then had to remove it from autostart also15:36
genii-aroundYes, for the time being I just uninstalled it. Had another issue with CUPS making system unbootable yesterday, even in single-user or to previous kernels. Had to boot to usb, and mv /etc/init/cups.conf in that case, since removing it also wanted to take out kubuntu-desktop and xubuntu-desktop15:44
BluesKajdone , all seems ok som far15:47
BluesKajso15:47
* BluesKaj dumps pulseaudio...again16:00

SudoKingthis alpha seems to be rather stable for me :P16:08
Chipacahi all. My oneiric laptop is broken, in that unity doesn't start, gdm isn't drawing itself right half of the time, plugging in a second monitor or projector crashes the box, etc16:28
Chipacathis all started yesterday afternoon16:29
Chipacahelp?16:29
BluesKajSudoKing, yeah same here , so far , but I'm on kde so no issues with desktops etc16:30
CarlFKwhat file do I put something like AutomaticLoginEnable=true16:50
CarlFKin natty it was /etc/gdm/custom.conf .. same does not work for ornery16:50
zniavrei always thought that automatic login is not a good idea in dev stage16:54
cwillu_at_workdepends on what you need16:54
cwillu_at_workCarlFK, try timedlogin?16:56
CarlFKcwillu_at_work: timedlogin - same file?16:57
CarlFKI was thinking it got moved to gconf16:57
cwillu_at_workTimedLoginEnable=true\nTimedLogin=cwillu\nTimedLoginDelay=316:57
cwillu_at_workbut yeah, it could be gconf'd16:57
CarlFKWhat do I put in /etc/sudoers to disable the need to enter a password?17:00
CarlFKor I could just enabel the root account and autologin root.  which would make someone cry.17:00
cwillu_at_workCarlFK, well, there's little difference in many cases :p17:06
cwillu_at_workman sudoers17:06
CarlFK       Any user may mount or unmount a CD-ROM on the machines in the CDROM       Host_Alias (orion, perseus, hercules) without entering a password.17:08

cwillu_at_workreboot in...yeah./17:51
genii-aroundTime to boot to single user, edit file, etc etc17:51
cwillu_at_workany time you're editing sudors, you want to keep an extra root shell handy17:51
cwillu_at_worksudoers, rather17:51
CarlFKgood idea17:51
cwillu_at_workanytime you're doing <something that could break foo>, you want to keep an extra <service that only foo can provide> running17:52
cwillu_at_workremote upgrade?  start a second sshd17:52
cwillu_at_workect17:52
cwillu_at_worketc17:52

cwillu_at_work?17:52
CarlFKso I just add the user to sudo ?17:52
cwillu_at_work# %sudo ALL=NOPASSWD: ALL17:53
CarlFK"the default file includes the right command"17:53
CarlFKthat isn't in my file...17:53
cwillu_at_workyou have a silly file17:53
cwillu_at_workit's also in the man page17:55
cwillu_at_workalso, a live cd should have a valid example17:55

CarlFKthe vi is a lie.19:29

nit-witSo what is the access to the appearance==theme control?21:15
trismnit-wit: need to edit gsettings/gconf by hand for now (there is also gnome-tweak-tool, however it doesn't really seem much better than just using dconf-editor). I especially like the TODO line in gnome-control-center: "Appearance and Themes: - blah"21:39
nit-wittrism, thanks I will look around.;)21:40
CarlFKwho thought it would be funny to bind up arrow to screen shot?22:01
PiciThats happened in the past... I forget what caused it then.22:04
