[05:29] * nlsthzn waves [06:07] morning superfly and others [06:08] morning Kilos [06:09] have you recovered yet superfly [06:11] Kilos: mostly, still got a little bit of a cough hanging around, but it's very small [06:11] been a long illness hey? [06:11] hows the family [06:12] they're fine thanks [06:12] good [06:19] morning! oh oo um seems like I stay up too late again :) [06:35] Hey Kilos, kbmonkey, superfly... [06:35] aloha [06:35] how is everyone doing? [06:35] hiya nlsthzn kbmonkey fine ty but cold [06:36] Just enjoying last day of laziness before it is back to the grind stone... [06:37] enjoy [06:37] Trying too :p [06:42] thats nice :) [06:45] enjoy nlsthzn, and all else. off to work [06:45] go safe kbmonkey [06:45] kbmonkey: enjoy :p [09:00] https://lists.ubuntu.com/archives/ubuntu-devel/2011-June/033418.html [09:37] winter really sucks [09:37] unless you are a penguin or a walrus [09:38] Kilos: Tux is a penguin [09:38] lol [09:38] yeah but im not [09:38] tumbleweed: interesting link... any reason though... looking for comments? [09:38] Kilos: come live here... [09:39] wish i could , for winter anyway [09:39] nlsthzn: that it was interesting. It was one of the things I mentioned when I summarised UDS to CLUG (although I thought it wouldn't happen) [09:40] tumbleweed: to be honest I never even knew there was "DVD" version... just knew about the CD (or was there a DVD version that was the CD plus the language packs... sounds familiar) [09:41] the DVD has a bigger version of the live CD image, with more language packs included. It also has a bunch of packages on the disc, so it can be used live / alternate, and includes desktop + server packages [09:42] a lot of people download / use it beacuse it's bigger therefore it must be better [09:42] tumbleweed: is it possible to split the 1.5GB image into 2 CD images, with the usual "insert CD 2 now" [09:42] ? [09:43] no [09:43] why not? [09:43] because the live image will make up almost all of that 1.5G [09:43] so you'd be swapping CDs all the time [09:44] if ram >= 1GB: load_cd1_into_memory [09:44] don't forget we are already doing online decompression [09:44] true [09:44] so a fair amount of your ram is caching uncompressed data [09:45] yeah, I think it's possible, but a lot of work that nobody will do [09:46] how about having the less critical stuff not on the live image? [09:46] did you read the thread? [09:46] just the initial post [09:47] https://lists.ubuntu.com/archives/ubuntu-devel/2011-June/033429.html [09:47] i see
