[14:26] good morning everyone [14:51] hi! can anyone help me with Gnome Nanny? I can't get it working on the latest edubuntu release [14:59] hey there linguistical [14:59] linguistical: I haven't really used it but if there's problems it would be great if there's bugs filed so that we can look at it [15:00] ok - where do I do that? [15:01] I've tried using it on edubuntu and installed in on plain old ubuntu 11.04 [15:01] on the latter it didn't seem to do anything [15:01] on edubuntu it said the daemon wasn't started [15:06] linguistical: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs [15:07] linguistical: I'm multitasking furiously right now, but if you want you could subscribe me to the bug and I can look at it sometime [15:57] Question about users desktop - Can you lock the desktop so a user cannot make changes to it, like deleting shortcuts you put there ? [16:25] Question about users desktop - Can you lock the desktop so a user cannot make changes to it, like deleting shortcuts you put there ? [16:34] Shortcuts on the desktop are regular files. If you don't want the user to be able to delete them, you'd have to restrict his access to his own ~/Desktop dir [17:59] alkisg, this is for a school, the user profile will be an auto login for all students, we have other items taken care of thru menu editor, its just locking the desktop now. [18:10] Do you want to allow users to create new shortcuts to their own desktop? [18:15] alkisg, Nope [18:15] Lobo29: ok, then just chown their desktops to root:root or something [18:16] It's a file-system issue, not a gconf issue [18:19] alkisg, Great, thanks.
