TandyUKhi guys13:45
TandyUKdoes anyone know how to force a device to be detected and given a certain /dev/dbv/... entry13:45
TandyUKi have a dual port DVB-S card and a dual port DVB-t card, and each reboot they keey swapping adapter numbers13:46
TandyUK how do i force a device to be detected and given a specific entry in /dev/..., I have a dual port DVB-S card which has /dev/dvb/adapterX/frontend0 and frontend1, and a dual port DVB-T card which shows up as /dev/dvb/adapterY/frontend0 and adaptorZ/frontend0. Each reboot the numbers assigned for X Y and Z keep switching around13:49
TandyUKbetter worded :P13:49
TandyUKok, im having problems wathcing content live on a remote frontend16:19
TandyUKi can watch recordings ok, but live tv fails to open the file16:19
TandyUK2011-06-15 16:15:53.708 RingBuf(/var/lib/mythtv/livetv/1002_20110615161551.mpg) Warning: Taking too long to be allowed to read..16:19
TandyUKhaving checked the folder, that file doesnt exist16:19
TandyUKthe date/time is the same on the fe and be, they access the same folder mapped via cifs16:20
TandyUKits local to the backend, and cifs mapped to the frontend16:20
TandyUKand from my previous question, adding "options modulename adatper_nr=X" for each module to /etc/modprobe.d/options fixes it16:22
TandyUKlive content works fine on the backend btw16:23
TandyUKok checking the logs, if i watch live tv on the backend system, the file is created,16:25
TandyUKfrom the frontend however, it tries playing a file which is never created in the livetv folder16:25
rhpot1991TandyUK: you don't need to cifs mount for recordings or live tv16:28
rhpot1991storage groups should have you covered16:28
rhpot1991unless you aren't using them for some crazy reason16:29
skd5anerhey guys, anyone around here manage the launchpad bug reporting system for mythbuntu?17:15
skd5anerI've got a bug that I submitted to mythtv's trac system that appears to be a fix for a bug also reported on the launchpad page - figured someone might want to close it as it was submitted upstream and fixed17:16
tgm4883the mythbuntu devs do17:16
tgm4883bug number?17:16
skd5anerhttps://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mythtv/+bug/71554817:16
Zinn[bugs.launchpad.net] Bug #715548 in mythtv (Ubuntu): “Mythtv frontend crashes playing ISO in storage group”17:16
skd5anerhttp://code.mythtv.org/trac/ticket/984417:16
skd5anerheh - Zinn, how'd you know? :)17:17
ZinnHi skd5aner, something I can help you with today?  I am a bot, use !help to see what I can do.17:17
skd5anerah, well... that'd be how17:17
skd5anertgm4883: at least, I think it's a dupe17:17
tgm4883skd5aner, ok, so the workaround is to have .iso in lower case?17:18
skd5anerin my case yes, I suspect the same for the other guy17:18
skd5anermarkk has already commited a fix in master, I've asked if he'll backport to -fixes, but has not yet as I just reported back to him17:19
tgm4883I'll attach the bug report in a comment and ask for verification17:19
skd5aneryea... good idea.  I am getting some segfaults on a few of my isos, so it could be an unrelated issue, but would be good if that guy could check and see if the lower case extensions resolve his issue17:20
skd5anerI had seen some people talk about similiar issues on the ubuntu forums (via google searches) - so if you guys see this come up, might want to remember the workaround or wait until it's backported and tell people to upgrade to latest fixes17:21
TandyUKrhpot1991: everying is recording into a group called 'default'18:39
tgm4883TandyUK, yes18:40
TandyUKso is there any need for a remote frontend to have its folder mapped18:41
TandyUKcurrently i have a backend system which is also a fileserver, /data/mythtv is my root folder, and is symlinked to /var/lib/mythtv18:41
TandyUKmy remote frontend has /data mapped via cifs18:42
tgm4883TandyUK, no?18:42
TandyUKand also has /var/lib/mythtv symlinked to it18:42
tgm4883If there is a storage group available for the media type, it will stream without outside mapping18:42
TandyUKah i must have been reading old documentation or smth then18:42
tgm4883eg. recordings, videos, etc18:42
TandyUKok, how do i add movies etc to these storage groups then?18:42
tgm4883IIRC, music and pictures aren't storage group compatible yet18:43
TandyUKah right so mythmovie has already done it18:43
TandyUKah i see18:43
TandyUKso i only really need to map the music folder18:43
tgm4883you add the video to the storage group directory18:43
TandyUKso the path in the db is valid on both hosts18:43
TandyUKtgm4883, so how do i set up storage groups properly.. i have created groups on the backend, now i am on a frontend in settings->videos settings, and it asks me for "directories that hold videos", which is currently /var/lib/mythtv/19:25
TandyUKcurrently /var/lib/mythtv/videos/ even19:26
tgm4883TandyUK, you don't need to configure the frontend19:29
TandyUKyeah im just reading http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/MythVideo19:29
Zinn[www.mythtv.org] MythVideo - MythTV19:29
TandyUKseems i just need to inconfigure it all :P19:29
TandyUKunconfigure* :)19:30
tgm4883I don't see where on that page it tells you to configure the frontend if you are using storage groups19:32
TandyUKexactly :P19:36
TandyUKso im removing all the config i did, and guess what, its working :P19:36
TandyUKnext question is how do i have multiple sotrage groups for movies,19:36
TandyUKeg, movies and porn browseable seperately19:36
tgm4883separatly19:42
tgm4883hmm19:42
tgm4883probably though parental controls19:42
tgm4883or you mount a local vid directory on the frontends you want that. It will show up differnetly in the frontend but you could still get to it19:43
tgm4883couple ways to handle that, depending on the desired outcome19:43
TandyUKwell its not for parental stuff lol19:47
TandyUKbut it would be nice to have a different menu option to go to depending what was wanted19:47
TandyUKi already have it in its own storage group19:47
TandyUKdoes mythvideo actually look for a "Videos" storage group, or is it more complex than that?19:48
tgm4883IDK, the backend provides a list of available videos20:05
tgm4883the backend looks at the directories set up as video storage groups20:06
tgm4883from a mythvideo standpoint, it's just asking the backend for video20:06
TandyUKyeah it just formats it as "storage groups"20:21
TandyUKso i might just create ahigher level folder, so we get a choice between movies, music videos, tv series, porn, and so on20:22
