[08:23] (stk) :line disk installation timed out [08:23] that look familiar to anyone? [10:44] lilstevie: Good evening. [11:13] ,good evening persia [11:13] How did your aattempt to port the kernel go? [11:15] oh that was done long ago :p [11:15] it is fixing up the new kernel [11:15] I am still fighting the bug :/ [11:15] For the Galaxy? [11:16] but I think it may have been evdev that was acting retarded, it was the natty alpha image and i didnt realize [11:16] galaxy tab yeah [11:16] Oh, cool [11:17] Do you have time this ewvening to work on getting a package in for oneiric? [11:17] yeah, just let me put the washing away :) [11:17] NO rush :) Let me know. [11:20] :) [11:29] ok now lets see if with the new rootfs if the bug goes byebye [11:30] Heh === lilstevie is now known as lilstevie|ZNC === lilstevie|ZNC is now known as lilstevie === lilstevie is now known as lilstevie|ZNC === lilstevie|ZNC is now known as lilstevie [12:18] lilstevie: I Have to head away for a bit, but I'll be back shortly. [12:19] persia: kk, well I will be up most of the night [12:20] natty final preinstall seems to be a bit better overall [12:50] lilstevie: Oh, excellent. [12:52] so, for packaging it, Let's start from the linux-n900 source. [12:53] persia: I will have to go with the how for now :) this is still being a pain, the new evdev doesn't like my touch driver at all :/ [12:54] * lilstevie is starting to wonder why he even bothered changing to the new kernel [12:55] Oh, annoying. [12:55] So, how works like this: [12:56] 1) get your kernel working [12:56] 2) stuff the source into a package with deba [12:57] err, debian.flavour/ and debian/ (look at linux-n900 for an example) [12:57] ok [12:57] 3) Build, and fiddle the flavour bits until the result is clean [12:58] 4) upload [12:58] upload anywhere specific? [12:59] No :) Theoretically to Ubuntu, but since you still need a sponsor, anywhere from which the sponsor can pull for review works. [13:00] heh :) [13:00] The sponsor will need the .dsc and tar.gz files. [13:00] ok cool [13:02] But [13:03] But step 1 is the most important :) [13:04] heh yeah I am wokring on solving these issues [14:16] blah, this should be working [14:20] What doesn't work? [14:20] evdev [14:21] my beautiful touchscreen patch is not working like it should [14:22] Do you get propertties to xinput, or can you just not see the events in the first place? [14:23] the cursor isnt moving [14:23] but everything is as it should be with evtest [14:23] Right. Does xinput --list-props show it as a mouse? [14:24] If evtest has the right output, the kernel stuff is very likely correct. [14:25] heh it shoud be, it is the same result that I was getting under maverick [14:27] There wqas a bunch of touch stuff done for natty: I suspect that the issue is that it *is* being detected as touch. [14:28] it is detected as a touch screen [14:28] like it was under evdev in maverick [14:28] cause it is a touch screen :p [14:28] And then it gets caught in the touch handler, and ends up not working like a mouse. [14:29] Which makes the pointer not move :) [14:29] heh [14:30] So, My recommendartion would be to get the satck into the archive, file a bug. [14:30] Then we can bug the touch folks to eplain the stack and help us fix the bug :) [14:31] I will talk to chase again I think [14:31] this touch driver wouldn't even work if it wasn't for the touch team :D [14:32] cnd is definitely the right person :) [14:33] Good luck. [14:33] they helped me figure out what i needed to do months ago :p [14:33] when maverick was current [14:33] heh, chase has been a great help with everything, natty is the problem here though :( [14:34] I don't knmow if we can fix natty, but oneiric is a real possibility. [14:35] heh [14:35] biggest thing is to find out what is broken :) [14:37] yeah === zumbi is now known as zumbi_ === zumbi_ is now known as zumbi === zumbi is now known as zumbi_ === zumbi_ is now known as zumbi === prpplague^2 is now known as prpplague === Ursinha is now known as Ursinha-afk
