anadonwho do I tell about a package (nginx) which has had a major version number increase, going from beta to stable?03:09
anadonI think it needs to be added to the ubuntu repository.03:10
trismanadon: the latest version is already in oneiric, which will probably be out in october03:15

AlanBellis blender installable at the moment on oneiric?07:59
benonsoftwareHay07:59
AlanBellblender : Depends: libswscale1 (>= 4:0.7~~) but it is not going to be installed or libswscale-extra-1 (>= 4:0.7~~) but it is not going to be installed07:59
AlanBelllibswscale1 seems to be the broken one08:31
AlanBellinstalling libswscale-extra-1 separately seemed to let it past and start the blender install08:32
yofellibswscale1 is replaces with libswscale208:38
yofelso blender needs a rebuild08:38
yofel*replaced08:38
AlanBellok, do I need to file a bug or something or will it just happen?08:57
twagerHas Evolution been dropped from oneiric ?08:59
AlanBelltwager: no09:00
twagerAlanBell:  Thanks09:03
geserAlanBell: you could file a bug but unless someone cares for blender, the bug will most likely get unnoticed (too much bugs for too few people). But some people are also looking at unmet dependencies so it might get fixed even without a bug filed.09:05
AlanBellif someone could confirm bug 802863 that would be great09:25
ubottuLaunchpad bug 802863 in blender (Ubuntu) "not installable on oneiric" [Undecided,New] https://launchpad.net/bugs/80286309:25
AlanBelljust sudo apt-get install blender and paste in the results, you don't actually need to install it (it won't)09:26
lamalexanyone know if there was a change to GCC or something in oneiric to set -Wunused-but-set?11:15

elrosdo you know an easy way to theme lightdm?12:58
zniavreelros,  i was just starting to learn how to theme lightdm with this webpage > http://bobthegnome.blogspot.com/2010/07/lightdm.html13:03
yofelerm, did anyone notice that the mount output is rather short currently? http://paste.kde.org/8917913:20
yofelor when did we stop mounting /dev /dev/shm etc. as tmpfs?13:20

yofeltsimpson: that's my addition14:51
yofelthe problem is that it mount only shows stuff defined in fstab14:51

warky11.10 sucks15:10
warkyand unity sucks15:10
PiciHow pleasant.15:10
cmillerYes, let's pay attention to that guy.  He has a lot to contribute.15:12
BluesKajpositive attitude:)15:12
cmillerHas anyone using encrypted home directory updated in the last few days?15:13
cmillerI did, and rebooted to use newer kernel image, and it's mounted the encrypted home and file contents are cleartext, but the Ubuntu-specific (?) feature of encrypted filenames is broken.  That is, all filenames begin "ECRYPTFS_FNEK_ENCRYPTED.blahblahblah".15:16
* cmiller downgrades libpam-modules/natty and libpam-mount/natty .15:28
IdleOnejust noticed I am missing a couple of indicators in my panel, power indicator and the messages indicator15:32
Ian_Cornemessage indicator is there for me15:38
Ian_Cornei've not seen power since i updated :D15:38
IdleOneIan_Corne: apparently I did not miss them too much since I just noticed lol15:39
BluesKajnew kernel in use..all seems ok so far15:39
IdleOne3.0.2? I just installed it15:40
IdleOnewas wondering if I should reboot or wait15:40
BluesKajyup, just rebooted15:40
yofelworks fine here too15:41
yofeladd pcie_aspm=force, didn't break anything yet ^^15:41
yofel*added15:41
IdleOnegood to hear, I'll reboot after this song :)15:41
BluesKajIdleOne, I also did a dist-update first15:41
IdleOneI have 20 packages not wanting to update. gnome-panel and friends15:41
Ian_Corneyofel: that's the fix for powermanagement?15:42
IdleOnelittle worried about hitting yes because it seems like it would break pretty much everything15:42
BluesKajthere were packages being kept back that were upgraded with dist-update15:42
yofelIdleOne: the workaround from phoronix, right15:42
Ian_Corneok :)15:42
yofeltab fail -.-15:43

BluesKajerr correction dist-upgrade ...forgetting my alias commands again15:44
Ian_Corneyofel: do you notice an increase in battery lifetime?15:44
Ian_CorneI'm rebooting now, but my battery is still charing15:45
IdleOnewell reboot time....just when my downloads start getting a decent speed lol15:45
yofelit does seem to help a bit, but lspic still shows ASPI turned off for most cards15:48
yofel*ASPM15:48
Ian_Cornemy wakeups per second have been halved15:48
Ian_Cornebut it's still rediculsly hight15:49
yofelhm, why do I have nautilus running in KDE...?15:50
Ian_Cornemaybe the lightdm session starts it?15:50
Ian_Corneor is under your user?15:50
yofelIt's under my user, and I'm using KDM15:51
Ian_Cornevery strange :D15:51
* yofel uninstalls gnome again15:51
CardinalFangThis is "cmiller" again.  I found the problem.  "util-linux" doesn't mount /sys any more, and ecryptfs uses that to get the file-name encryption data.  So, if you see anyone complaining of funny filenames in Oneiric, the problem is not mounted /sys, and can be fixed by a new line in /etc/fstab to mount it.15:52
yofelright, I noticed too that 'mount' for example only lists mounts that are defined in fstab15:53
Ian_CorneI don't have any other mounts atm :p15:53
Ian_Cornelol15:54

IdleOnetried sudo kill PID. tried killall evolution. nothing.16:29
charlie-tcaWhat about looking in task manager to see what all is running for it?16:30
IdleOneok well using system monitor and forcibly killing it worked16:34
IdleOneYou know what would be nice, a menu with all my applications listed and categorized. Would make things a lot easier to find.16:37
Ian_Corneyou have that16:37
Ian_Corneclikc the applications lense16:38
Ian_Cornethen on the right top, there's a dropdown menu16:38
Ian_Corneand you can select the categories16:38

IdleOnenot Visual basic16:49
IdleOnealso where do i edit my startup applications?16:49
IdleOneI can't find anything anymore :/16:49
onryowhat in the world is visualbasic ;) Some koodies bug?16:50
yofelvirtualbox doesn't seem to recognise intel-vt accelleration anymore at least here, so that might be a reason16:51
yofelI don't have a unity VM though to check16:51
onryoyofel don't think that is the problem since I dont have vt-d or vt-x on this cpu16:51
onryoYes I am using an x86 cpu though.16:52
yofelwell, maybe the kernel broke other things too... but I'm not sure how 3D is handled though16:52
onryocould be the "lightDM" idk.16:53
onryoAs much as I like gnome I never liked GDM. If I compiled it for multiseating I needed about 200mb of dependencies.16:54
onryonot to mention GDM was blotted as hell with 50k lines of code16:55
yofelwell, I'm sure each of those 50k lines did something. If you implement all features from gdm in lightdm it won't be light anymore16:58
DaekdroomWhat features?17:13
komputesI'm running Oneric and I am unable to configure 1) Lid options  2) Auto-dim  3) Startup applications17:28

carl0s-the task switch (alt-tab) is really doing my head in. Firstly, I can't tell what an app is by the picture.. it's too rough looking, secondly, there's about a three-quarter second delay before it appears, and thirdly, I just can't get my head around what it's going to switch to if I just hit alt-tab and let go. Is there a better/alternative task switcher hotkey, like .e.g super-tab compiz-style switcher?18:39
