[03:25] hi everyone [03:26] hi Lancelot [03:27] how's it going? [03:29] it's good! [03:29] was at Pride for part of the weekend, sorta tired, but in a good way [03:30] * MarkDude watched the SF parade on tv - with his grandma [03:30] how about you? [03:30] hey MarkDude [03:30] I'm good [03:30] hello valorie Lancelot , everyone [03:30] had fun at the jazz festival [03:30] ahoy thar [03:30] I was marching with PFLAG as usual, and it was sorta hot [03:30] gave out LOTS of hugs this year [03:31] ...? [03:31] SF Pride is the only one I would blow off Seattle for, though [03:32] the timing was so great this year; everybody was happy [03:33] The Sf party stretched beyond the city borders- most cities had some signs [03:33] nice [03:33] And every station played gay music [03:33] Lancelot: what's your question? [03:33] "gay music" [03:33] lol [03:33] Like stereotype stuff, that is actually popular [03:34] I was confused when you said you gave out lots of hugs [03:34] MarkDude and I are both straight, if you are wondering [03:34] I'm a PFLAG mom [03:34] YMCA, Raining men, etc. I kid you not- most people just had a really great sense of humor [03:34] usually Seattle PFLAG gives out round pink stickers which everyone wants, which say "You are loved by PFLAG" [03:34] I decided to just give hugs instead [03:35] Hugs are better than stickers [03:35] we gave out stickers as well [03:35] if you search flickr for Seattle Pride, you'll see lots of pix [03:35] or Seattle PFLAG [03:36] The hug thing- is a being supportive thing, basically, I don't care what your personal deal is, I accept you [03:36] Not to answer for you val [03:36] right you are [03:36] just people I felt wanted the hugs [03:37] lol [03:37] and a few whispered to me "how did you know I needed this?" [03:37] No forced hugging- of course [03:37] which makes me tear up [03:37] :) [03:38] all that lovin' is tiring though [03:38] Well it is important - more so in some cities. I have a friend that grew up in small town Nevada, she had never been in a place she could be herself [03:38] I came home and fell asleep last night [03:38] Sorry if I scared you with my Hippie talk Lancelot :) [03:38] we are changing the world, we are [03:39] * MarkDude kids [03:39] freedom and love [03:39] we ARE hippies, without the weed [03:39] True valorie [03:39] at least most of us, without the weed [03:39] lol [03:40] * MarkDude is in Cali- I know law enforcement folks with medical cards [03:40] Just sayin' [03:40] our med. marijuana law was gutted this year [03:40] so there are two legalization measures coming up [03:41] we'll see [03:41] Washington is progressive at times [03:42] Did you see that pic of Bert and Ernie saying Thank you New York? [03:42] that's one I haven't seen yet [03:42] I loved the Empire State building all rainbow [03:43] Sounds cool [03:43] I posted link on FB- I will send to you [03:44] thanks [03:44] Just sent it [03:44] I had someone give me a bad time for it [03:45] really? [03:45] I always thought they were gay heroes- to some extent, like Peppermint Patty [03:45] I mean to me I knew they were gay- before I knew what it meant [03:46] Then again, I went to I'm ok - You're ok preschool [03:46] right -- I'm not much into labeling, but on the other hand, I grew up before Stonewall, so I had very limited knowledge about the world [03:47] I think there is a certain amount of matter of fact with it. At least in the pond I am in [03:48] * MarkDude never uses gay as pejorative - just as adjective [03:51] that's why we have the word "ghey" [03:55] it takes over the pejorative role [03:56] and everyone stays happy [03:56] right, I grew up in a fundamentalist right-wing pond [03:56] ish [03:56] since it sounds the same, it is the same, to me [03:56] better retired as an insult, all together [03:57] I prefer shakespearean insults when they are called for, anyway [03:57] more creativity, and more fun [04:02] +1 to the Bard [04:02] DID YOU JUST BITE YOUR THUMB AT ME!?!?!?!?! :p [04:02] lol [04:03] I forget the rest of the lines [04:04] something about "I will kill you all" if I remember correctly [04:09] first thing we do is kill all the lawyers has always struck me as a great line of his [04:09] Falstaff also made great impression on me as kid [04:19] why does this not surprise me? [04:19] lol [04:43] does anyone here use GNOME3? [04:44] * valorie uses Kubunut [04:44] Kubuntu [04:44] I've been considering switching to KDE [04:44] cool [04:44] I'm looking forward to meeting lotsa Gnome people at the desktop summit this August [04:44] I'm just getting up to 11.10 [04:45] I like the people, just not the desktop [04:45] desktop summit? [04:46] http://desktopsummit.org [04:46] KDE & Gnome uber-meeting [04:46] KDE is sending me to Berlin [04:46] :-) [04:47] sounds fun [04:48] should be fun and work, which I love [05:05] what is it you do by the way? [05:05] I didn't get around to asking at linuxfest [05:38] I'll talk to you all later [05:38] bye [19:34] *yawn* === althara1 is now known as althara [21:14] valorie: I'm going to OSCON this year!!! :D [21:39] happy tuesday everyone [21:43] wooooooooooooooo! [21:43] good news althara [22:00] althara: see you there [22:06] which day are you going, seattlegaucho? [22:07] we should plan a lunch or dinner together [22:07] wed night and returning thur night ... only for my talk since the stoopid company doesn't endorse it :( [22:07] poo on your company! [22:08] wed night there is an O'Reilly meeting I'd like to go, but I'm OK w/ having dinner Thur and return afterwards [22:08] we could at least get together for drinks or something on Wed. [22:08] oh, cool [22:08] shall we exchange cell #s? [22:14] actually, I wonder if I'll be there on Thursday [22:15] Thursday is lightning talks and stuff, right? [22:15] I think so [22:15] yeah, I'll be taking off on Thursday too [22:15] since I'm not paid [22:16] but we can do dinner [22:16] or lunch [22:18] hmm ... lunch [22:23] when is your talk? [22:26] are these talks being broadcast? [22:26] broadcasted* [22:29] hmmm, I think some are [22:29] or at least available [22:31] yay [22:31] I'll be back later [22:32] http://www.oscon.com/oscon2011/public/schedule/speaker/42826 [22:33] it turns out my talk is in the morning so I'll be able to enjoy lunch and the afternoon in good ubuntu-us-wa company ;) [22:37] cool! [22:37] your talk sounds like it is way over my head [22:37] but that's not surprising [22:38] woah [22:38] they have no free option this year? [22:39] wth
