[14:57] ebel bringing "one" [14:57] * slashtom ! [14:58] TBH I'm broadly against software trying to ban things like this. The software should allow a user to do that. Social norms and relations should be in force there. :() [14:58] * :) [14:58] slashtom: you're worth at least 25k people [15:01] :P [15:02] can you add a note against your 25,000 people, that they will be arriving based at a time based on Irish Standard Time [15:03] that page says IST [15:05] ebel: why are you entering 250000 guests in the loco-directory? [15:06] that'll learn yoyu [15:07] right grabbing a shower [15:07] i shall expect the bug to be logged by the time i get back [15:07] then i can assign it to paultag [15:07] :p [15:07] * ebel files bug about threats of violence from loco council! [17:42] 11.04 here, sorry. [17:44] I've noticed that if I leave firefox on, memory usage just keeps going up until the whole os gets completely unresponsive [17:44] i have a netbook in 1gb running xubuntu 11.04. i have firefox opened for days at a time with dozens of tabs + chrome + opera and while it can get slow once i close tabs it's fine. [17:45] I was wondering if it was part of the whole memory leak thing with X (that I thought was sorted) or if it was something else. [17:45] usually flash based tabs are the problem [17:46] If I leave firefox on for more than a day, it takes over 1GB RAM!!!! (I have 2GB altogether on my desktop) [17:46] and these days i usually use chrome for flash based nonsense. [17:47] that's what I was thinking too, but I left firefox open with just gmail, hotmail and yahoo mail open and it was still the same [17:47] tbh I haven't tried it with just , say a google page left open [17:47] well when flash crashes with an error message the gmail tab goes south too [17:47] gmail uses flash? [17:48] it looks like it. can't be sure but it does crash when flash crashes. [17:48] hmmm. Interesting [17:50] http://webapps.stackexchange.com/questions/11050/does-gmail-use-flash [17:50] I'm using chromium now myself at the mo, and I think the same thing is happening. Memory usage seems to be climbing. Not as dramatically as ff. started at 55MB, now 69MB. [17:50] thanks [17:51] when in doubt blame flash. :-) [17:52] lol! Indeed! [17:52] and if google can't make flash work then who can? [17:53] that was an interesting link [17:54] going to ubuntu hour in dublin tomorrow? [17:59] nope [17:59] down in clare [17:59] will be in Limerick and Cork for most of tomorrow [17:59] I keep missing the ubuntu hour in Limerick. [17:59] I was at the first one or two [18:00] I just keep forgetting to go then! [18:06] hmmm, after a prelimary investigation, looks like it could be flash alright. Chromium memory now 57MB & 56MB, ff steady at 132.3 MB, with only your link open. [18:06] Bummer, and I was really getting into those app tabs too! [18:08] local apps are always better. but web apps are convenient. you just have to find the balance. [20:04] evening all
