xubuntu-noobHi guys;07:36
xubuntu-noobDo someone knows where I can find the Thunar configuration file ?07:36
Unit193xubuntu-noob: The one at ~/.config/Thunar/thunarrc ?07:41
xubuntu-noobThanks Unit193 it looks like it.07:45
xubuntu-noobStill, it doesn't seem to store shortcuts on the left bar (for example).07:45
xubuntu-noobIt there another file for this ?07:45
xubuntu-noobOh wait I found the wiki.07:48
xubuntu-noobI guess I'll get most info there.07:48
CapTechxubuntu-noob: Heya.07:48
CapTechxubuntu-noob: Go to a command line and do an ls -l and see who the owner is set on that file/directory.07:49
CapTechxubuntu-noob: If somehow you've messed up like I have in the past, root may be the owner and you can't write to it.07:49
xubuntu-noobOh hey CapTech thanks for helping but I think you misunderstood my query ;-)07:50
xubuntu-noob"Doesn't seem to store shortcuts" was about the config file07:50
xubuntu-noobI mean : I'm looking for the file that would let me define all shortcuts on the right bar.07:50
xubuntu-noobFor administrative purposes :)07:51
xubuntu-noob(left bar)07:51
CapTechxubuntu-noob: NP.  I don't use any GUI file managers, so I don't suffer that issue.07:51
CapTechCLI FTW!07:51
CapTechLOL.07:51
xubuntu-noobhehe ;-)07:51
xubuntu-noobIt's for my users though. Working on a 15-computers MS -> GNU migration.07:52
xubuntu-noobBut I should get weapons as powerful as GPO is... like config files :)07:52
CapTechxubuntu-noob: Hang on a sec, I wanna play with Thunar for a moment.07:53
xubuntu-noobCapTech, :p07:53
well_laid_lawnI've never been able to find thunars' shortcuts in a file nywhere so I guess they are hardcoded07:53
xubuntu-noobwell_laid_lawn, damn ! That's noobish...07:54
xubuntu-noob("would be")07:54
CapTechxubuntu-noob: I'm going to try something real quick and I'll let you know...07:57
xubuntu-noobYep thanks CapTech. I'm looking towards plugin btw... may be a solution.07:58
xubuntu-noob(its not, all plugins are purely user oriented)08:01
CapTechDOH!08:08
CapTechI found it.08:08
CapTechxubuntu-noob: I found it.08:08
xubuntu-noobReally ?08:09
xubuntu-noob?08:09
CapTechcat .gtk-bookmarks <-- I think that's what you are looking for.08:09
CapTech~/.gtk-bookmarks08:09
xubuntu-noobDoh !!08:09
xubuntu-noobNice !08:09
CapTechSorry, I had to do some testing first.08:09
CapTechLOL.08:09
CapTechgrep is your best friend.08:09
xubuntu-noobOh... I see the method.08:10
CapTechJust remember, that grep SOMETHING * and grep SOMETHING .* are two different beasts.08:10
CapTech:)08:10
CapTechDoes that answer your question?08:10
xubuntu-noobI think it does ! It also creates new ones but not for now :P08:10
CapTech???08:10
CapTechI don't understand what you mean by that.08:11
Unit193xubuntu-noob: I would love to know how you plan to lockdown the computers (that is if you plan to)08:11
xubuntu-noob(like : "Oh, so in facts most applications will share files, like this 'gtk-bookmarks', which, I guess, is made to be used at various places)08:11
=== CapTech is now known as Charybdis
xubuntu-noobUnit193, what kind of lockdown ?08:11
CharybdisI gotcha.08:12
Unit193Do you plan to do any type?08:12
xubuntu-noobNot really.08:12
xubuntu-noobAtm my users are users on windows... they can change most settings.08:12
xubuntu-noobIt's gonna be the same. They'll not be sudoers, thats all I guess.08:12

gregory_anyone aware of a version of visual studio 2005 that is  compatible for use in xubuntu x11 xfc?15:08
orngjce223Visual Studio is windows only :( you could /see/ if it runs with Wine and/or Mono, but I seriously doubt it.15:21
orngjce223You may want to ask #ubuntu though15:21
orngjce223They might have an alternative proram15:21
TheSheepgregory_: try mono15:34

voozeAnyone have experience with docky? I cant seem to add the launcher to terminal just right, into the dock.. i can add it fine, but it just opens a new window each time.. Not like other programs in docky.. anyone have an idea what could cause this?18:28
Sysiit happens with every dock-ish application, something with the xfce4-terminal, you could try some other terminal18:30
Sysi(xfce-terminal also runs every window in same process, it's just weird, other terminals can be too)18:31
voozeSysi: thanks for your answer! so i just go for gnome-terminal or?18:34
Sysiif you like it, I guess it wouldn't be easy to change xfce4-terminal18:44
voozeSysi: just using somthing called ROXTerm now.. its pretty nice18:47

fabiohi from madrid21:04
fabiohave an strategic question, i dont like unity neither gnome3, can i continue using xfce without canonical intrusement?21:05
charlie-tcaYou can use gnome 3 and xfce without canonical intrusement, if you don't use an Ubuntu dirivative21:08
charlie-tcaxubuntu is an official dirivative of Ubuntu, thus, Canonical will always play a role.21:08
Sysibut they're not really interested about xfce21:09
charlie-tcaunfortunately, changes made in Ubuntu do affect Xubuntu, Kubuntu, Edubuntu, UbuntuStudio, Mythbuntu21:10
charlie-tcaThere are many distributions out there that Canonical has no part of, we just aren't one of those21:12
Sysihe wants to say that xubuntu shouldn't change too much, like gnome did, and canonical isn't really gonna fork it21:13
charlie-tcaI can't say such a thing, too many changes have affected Xubuntu21:13
Sysibut there's hope21:14
fabioyea thanks guys21:14
fabioi feel the same21:14
fabioim a 5 year gnome ubuntu user21:15
fabiobut i think i can run any gnome app here in xfce21:15
fabioim installing debian too21:15
fabioso tired of 3d animations an so21:16
fabioonly use gnome-terminal and firefox21:16
Sysignome3 actually feels handy, as long as you've installed the extension for alt-tab and don't use workspaces21:23
Sysiunity has overdone the menu-thingy and isn't really good on any gpu but I guess the 2d is okay21:24
fabioim looking the load average with ubuntu and terminals is 121:27
fabioon a i3 laptop21:28
fabioin ubuntu is 0.221:28
Sysiyou lost X in other line?21:28

CppIsWeirdwhats the best ssh tunneling gui for xubuntu?23:15
charlie-tca!ssh23:18
ubottuSSH is the Secure SHell protocol, see: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/SSH for client usage. PuTTY is an SSH client for Windows; see: http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/putty/ for it's homepage. See also !scp (Secure CoPy) and !sshd (Secure SHell Daemon)23:18
charlie-tcaIf it works in Ubuntu, it should work. I don't know of any, myself23:18
