heminHi, I modified the kernel source.. and now I want to recompile the kernel.. so when i go to /usr/src/linux/kernel and do make it doesnt work.. it says "No rule to make target `FORCE', needed by `/config_data.gz'.  Stop." .. Do I have to recompile the whole kernel source again just to include a small change??? How can I do it faster?18:16
quentusrex_Anyone have advice on how to track down the cause of high load on a fresh ubuntu server caused by ksoftirqd processes?18:49
quentusrex_I have two servers with identical hardware, both freshly installed ubuntu 11.04 server 64 bit, fully updated and only one of them is having this problem.18:50
quentusrex_After a wipe and reinstall the problem still exists, on the same server.  18:50

ubot2Ubuntu bug 815540 in linux "Server becomes unresponsive after spawning 16 ksoftirqd processes" [Undecided,New]19:00
quentusrex_I am testing the pre-proposed kernel now on the machine. I will report back if that resolves the issue. Also, on the 2.6.38-10 kernel adding noapic to boot options does nothing.19:34
quentusrex_in particular I'm testing: linux-image-2.6.38-11-server_2.6.38-11.47pre201107220904_amd64.deb19:34
quentusrex_That version suffers from the same problem. 19:49
