[12:47] mhall119: Time and time again I find you to be a more than worthy opponent for a battle of wits. [12:51] :) [12:51] though having to cross-post from G+ to Facebook is gonna confuse some people [13:10] .. and then dicussing it on IRC even more so. [14:15] mhall119, MichelleQ ping [14:23] DammitJim: pong [14:30] mhall119, what model jayco did you say you got? [19:31] ok hopefully someone in here can help me :) [19:32] I have a tar file that is 174GB and I am trying to untar it however when it runs it only extract one 300 byte file [19:32] and when i do tar -tvf backup.tar it just shows the one file [19:57] tar bomb? [19:57] or a corrupted tarball. [19:58] hmm looks ok now [19:59] tar -xv backup.tar seems to be just sitting there but i would assume that means its working [19:59] i am assuming its trying to read the file [20:00] am i correct to assume that? [20:38] dorgan: do you need [20:38] tar -xvf backup.tar [20:38] yeah its ok we killed the process [20:38] i'll worry about backups when we actually have a server we can restore them on [20:39] the only problem with rackspace cloud servers is the fact that you need to scale up one level at least in order to do the restore, because you need double the space [20:39] dorgan: I have the same issue with my VPS provider [20:40] i am hoping once they get block level storage this will no longer be an issue [20:40] although billing is completely pro-rated to it is no biggie to roll up a machine for a few days. [20:41] it can be when you need to go from a 8GB ram instance to 16GB
