[06:06] ye., I could have no debt, be earning enough to own a house, and have enough moola to supply my gadget addiction [06:06] *yes [06:07] but that's not what I have, so I would have to say that it's as good as it can be at the moment [06:07] Oh that... yup... it never gets good enough in that case :p [06:35] morning superfly and others [06:35] hey nlsthzn hows ya [06:35] Alo Uncle Kilos ... how is you? [06:52] Or is it just (and less painfull) to cut off my leg with a butter knife? [06:52] s/just/just easier/ [06:58] hihanhoesj: sounds easier to use the knife [06:58] then again I have no idea what you said :) [06:59] I just watched a show on Black Holes... I should stop... it only hurts my head thinking like this and afterwards I feel really stupid because I still don't get it :D [07:00] lol [07:00] I though the knife might be easier... [07:01] Maybe I should try the GLUG-chat list first before I go and fetch the knife... [08:07] thats why i am here. for the company [08:07] i learned them from the guys here that have helped me over the last 2 years [08:08] Langjan: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/InstallingSoftware [08:08] ty Vhata [08:08] morning [08:09] Hi Vhata, thanks [08:15] Kilos I still have your inputs to sort out Juanita's icon sizes etc, will try to get at it on the weekend. [08:16] come on here and ask maaz to google what you need for ubuntu [08:16] i can actually just check here from the guys too. [08:17] .exe files and programs are win stuff right? [08:17] and bad news for our pcs? [08:17] Thanks, I have learnt that lesson the hard way. What about Google Earth (the Linux version?) It gave me hassles once now I am wary... [08:18] i have only used it when i had data a while back and it worked here [08:19] if you have probs come on here and ask , someone will have used and sorted whatever is bugging you [08:19] Langjan, do you know how to use maaz [08:19] OK I have to go, will check you later, have a good day [08:19] he is the local bot here [08:19] go well [08:19] No, I thought maaz was a xchat mate... [08:20] no ,its a bot that knows lots\ [08:20] what's a bot? as far as I know they try to break into websites [08:20] Maaz, tell Langjan he is our bot for lotsa pc info [08:20] Kilos: Okay, I'll tell Langjan on freenode [08:21] lol [08:21] robot i think [08:22] this one is here for good only [08:22] Hi Maaz, alias for good only robot, will chat to you again. [08:22] Langjan: By the way, Kilos on freenode told me "tell Langjan he is our bot for lotsa pc info" 1 minute and 40 seconds ago [08:26] lo Squirm [08:27] hello [09:15] hi [09:15] Kilos, you h here [09:17] aw missed him [09:17] whoever he might be [09:36] well, who joins a channel for 1 minute, demands the attention of somebody, and then buggers off without waiting? [09:40] lol [09:40] oh now i learning something new. is it a demand to use someones nick? [09:41] oh my [09:47] Hellolol [09:47] lo hihanhoesj [09:47] meant to just say lol [09:47] lol [09:47] at least yeah happy [09:48] still struggling with my VPN stuffs :( [09:50] Maaz, define vpn [09:50] Kilos: VPN Virtual Private Network [09:51] I see you and Maaz are working together nicely :) [09:52] lol yeah [09:53] And I am assuming you dont know much about VPN's :) [09:53] ha ha absolutely [09:54] whats the prob. lets ask maaz [09:54] Maaz would not have the asnwer :) [09:54] he sometimes gives good links to cures [09:54] hehe [09:54] I have tried google [09:55] in every flavour of the query I can think of... [09:55] i dont like google unless maaz gets me the links [09:55] what is the prob hihanhoesj [09:56] I just need to find someone that has gotten it working already... [09:56] Well the thing is as follows, I have a Linux machine with l2tpns running on it [09:56] l2tpns uses freeradius as an authentication backend [09:57] I have set up freeradius to use Active Directory as its Authentication Source [09:57] if I connect to the l2tp server using cleartext passwords, I can authenticate [09:58] and the VPN connects [09:58] but I dont want to transmit passwords over the internet in cleartext (due to the obvious reasons) [09:59] yip [09:59] so I am looking into using CHAP/MS-CHAP to encrypt my password, then send it... [09:59] but then I cant authenticate, becuase Active Directory does not return the password for the user to the radius server [10:00] so the radius server cant match the incomming Hash to what the hash should be [10:00] whew, how do you get that into a googling seek? [10:00] Maaz: today [10:00] sakhi: today is Friday [10:01] www.sysadminday.com [10:01] well I basically tried every permutation of "l2tp, freeradius, active directory, chap, mschap, ubuntu" that I could think of :) [10:03] I might just end up builing my own auth backend, and bypass AD all together... [10:03] but that puts more password strain on the IT Admin... [10:04] and guys like froztbite cant help you? [10:04] that should read "password _admin_ strain" [10:04] yeah [10:04] well I only asked for help on here this morning... [10:05] did you go to #glug.za [10:05] so I thought I would just keep asking every so often, till someone can help :D [10:05] I did send an email to the glug-chat... no reponses so far :) [10:05] yeah dont lose hope. someone somewhere must know a bit about it [10:06] no man go #glug.za here [10:06] wow they have also shrunk this year [10:07] hmm now I just need to figure out how to switch channels is this IRC client :D [10:07] (cant even remember what its called, lol) [10:07] lol [10:18] good morning [10:18] lol hiya inetpro [10:19] Kilos: what's up doc? [10:19] no change and there [10:20] * inetpro struggling to keep the bosses happy [10:21] even on sysadmin day [10:21] eish [10:23] maybe should go on a long leave to another planet [10:24] lol [10:36] looks like sysadmin day is not a holiday [11:35] Kilos: I guess it's nothing new [11:36] shame man ek kry julle jammer [11:37] thats why i went into business on my own long ago. then you get into the mirror and say hi boss [11:38] hehe [11:38] Kilos: good idea :-) [11:40] only thing is when you do that you find you work even harder, but at least you dont have to listen to someone else making you do it [11:42] Kilos: always tough [11:42] you still need to listen to the customer [11:43] yes but at least only to them not the boss as well [11:43] well my boss is like my customer today [11:43] lol [11:43] way to demanding :-) [11:44] yeah some peeps are never happy [11:44] but sometimes it helps if you say there are the tools do it better [11:45] other times it gets you fired [11:45] hehe [11:47] but i dunno if good sysadmin guys are easy to replace [11:47] Kilos: what gets me most is the decisions that get taken based on flawed assumptions [11:48] yip [11:48] thats where you have to be diplomatic [11:48] Maaz, diplomat [11:48] A diplomat is a person who can tell others to go to hell in such a nice way that they look forward to the trip [11:48] * inetpro lol [11:49] i am gonna try the LPI course and see if i can remember anything [11:50] Kilos: cool [11:51] just need to get centOS if kbmonkey can still help with it [11:52] dunno why they didnt go the ubuntu route [11:56] lo sdehaan [12:05] do one of you know if hihanhoes come right [12:05] came [12:09] Kilos: the crash kid has jumped in to try and help, they still busy [12:09] great. ty inetpro [12:09] it's starting to sound like an interesting challenge [12:10] ok i go see too [12:10] Kilos: just bits and pieces of info so far [12:11] hopefully it will unfold once someone figures it out [12:12] its so lekker this community spirit [12:29] hmm the glug guys lost their bot [12:57] bbl guys [13:31] \o/ got my parents' new lappy [16:34] evening all [16:34] hiya nlsthzn [16:35] Hey Mr. Kilos ... or should I say Mr. ubuntu-za :) [16:35] lol [16:35] cheeky [16:36] hihanhoesj, dit you win? [16:36] did [16:37] * nlsthzn finds it easy to be a big mouth when he is very far away from anyone that could "physically" do anything about it (and even when they are close he prides himeself for never getting punched in the face because he never looks back when he is running away) [16:38] ha ha ha [16:53] hiya Squirm y [17:39] hi Kerbero [17:39] goeiedag [17:39] Maaz, coffee on [17:39] * Maaz starts grinding coffee [17:39] Maaz, hot [17:39] Come on Kilos How many peeps do you know that make coffee with cold water twit!
