[00:34] sudo necklace? [00:35] she ssaid on twitter she bought a sudo necklace and i saw a pic of one and its awesome! [00:36] aha. waiting for it to load... [00:40] Its pretty cool i just bought a 5 pack of 11.04 release a Ubuntu lanyard and a sticker pack today :D [00:40] I don't get it. [00:40] "sudo S"? [00:44] just the fact that its Sudo :D [01:07] waltman: it has 4 sides ;) [01:07] S U D O [01:08] http://www.boutiqueacademia.com/products/Binary-SUDO.html is the product page [01:10] aha! [02:32] :D [03:20] Anyone here get ubuntu certification/training from Canonical [03:21] I attended a sprint where we helped develop it, but I never took the course [03:22] ah ok i was just wondering cause id like to take it when i finish school [03:23] it covers the core basics, but honestly I'd say it's targeted to newer users who want to dive into ubuntu and get running [03:23] like sysadmins who are transitioning from windows [03:23] * pleia2 plods off to make dinner [03:24] ah okay cool thanks === jackson is now known as Guest25172 === Guest25172 is now known as jackson_ === jackson is now known as Guest70687 === Guest70687 is now known as jackson_ === jackson_ is now known as jackson [09:51] morning [10:14] Good bacon to all! [10:25] Morning. [10:26] How is it going?> [10:26] good. [10:26] http://us.battle.net/wow/en/character/stormreaver/Ashnar/advanced [10:26] I'm back in WoW :O [10:27] oh no :( [10:27] what? [10:28] SamuraiAlba: we'll miss you. [10:35] I've been playing for 2 weeks, and I still come here [10:53] all in good time [11:42] ChinnoDog: did you see that Dunkin' D's now has k-cups? [11:45] jedijf: at DD? [11:45] or in the store? [12:08] JonathanD: saw a display at DD today [12:25] what is a 'k-cup' ? [12:34] InHisName: It's one of those little plastic thingies the Keurig coffee makers use. They're twice the size of a creamer cup, but they're filled with coffee grounds. [12:42] jedijf: I did, but they are absurdly expensive [13:42] nothin' worse than a cheap k-cupper [13:58] Must be a must have accessory for the addict. My last (only) cup was 37 years ago. Don't need a 2nd one yet. [13:59] how expensive? [14:05] DD cups are almost $1/cup [14:05] thats high. [14:05] normal price is nearer $.70 [14:06] ya. They can be found online for 50c/cup without too much problem. More than that if you like variety packs [14:06] do you have a good source? [14:07] My last purchase was from Alpine Valley Coffee. There are 11 different varieties in my k-cup spinner now [14:08] 100 for $60 [14:08] Pretty good considering you get to choose flavors in packs of 8 [14:08] I mean 10.. [14:09] 10 packs x 10 cups = 100 [14:11] PennBot would know that if he were still alive. [14:12] JonathanD: are you going to order a 100 pack? [14:14] nice [14:14] and yes, probably [14:18] It works good for me because I only drink coffee 2-3 times per week and my cups stay fresh. I drink them very slowly now because I get coffee/tea at work when I am there. [14:18] I like having the spinner with lots of flavors though in case I have visitors [14:28] If there were Ubuntu k-cups I would buy them so I could make "a cup of ubuntu" like on the user descriptions in the Ubuntu forum. [14:29] lets do it... [14:29] ChinnoDog: I took over a cubicle. [14:29] put the kuerig in it, and the kcups in the cabinets above the desk, with little baskets on the desk for creamer and stuff. [14:32] "took over"? [14:32] It wasn't in use. [14:32] Now it's a coffee corner :p [14:32] Are you going to take donations for your k-cups? [14:32] That would be second best to having a k-cup vending machine [14:33] ChinnoDog: those who are aware of it have contributed to the supply. [14:34] lol. Is it a secret? [14:34] not really [14:35] Not many come to my side of our office :P [14:35] At my last job I had a mini fridge under my desk that I would occasionally stock with ice cream bites [14:35] That was sort of a secret because everyone would eat them if they knew they existed [17:15] My sound suddenly has static in it. How do I reset my sound? I already ran sudo /etc/init.d/pulseaudio restart [17:15] CChChgasdfas [17:16] ChinnoDog: weird. [17:16] What the heck was that? [17:16] what happened? [17:17] eyes have static too [17:17] 13:14 MutantTurkey CChChgasdfas [17:17] 13:14 -MutantTurkey [~calvin@static.85-10-226-133.clients.your-server.de] has quit [Quit: Lost terminal] [17:17] terminal froze. Mac is terrible. [17:17] but seriously, does the sound only start when you play something or activate the card? [17:17] Yes [17:17] I mean for me it happens when the card gets startered [17:17] not all the time [17:17] I was playing music fine before lunch, now soon as I play I hear static [17:17] once alsa initializes the card i get static [17:18] if nothing changed on the pc then maybe it's youre power sourcE? [17:18] did you plug in say, a giant fission reactor, or a 100W Guitar amp? [17:18] sometimes things on the same circuit cause noise. [17:19] no, I didn't do anything except leave my workstation idle for an hour while I played a game and ate lunch [17:19] I've been building a small studio in my basement, and that was my problem. [17:19] ChinnoDog: well, no reboot or anything? [17:19] did you try to reboot? [17:20] not yet [17:20] well that's step one I say. [17:20] first kill pulse [17:20] killall pulseaudio [17:21] and close all apps using pulse, it might be some program acting odd [17:21] that fixed it [17:22] I wasn't killing pulse before restarting it [17:22] it did? :D [17:22] woot woot [17:22] I just feel like i spend 9/10th of my time killing pulse, fixing jack and loading sound drivers... [17:22] I'm not used to being able to kill entire subsystems like that [17:23] well it's not terrible for it [17:23] It's just a sound daemon [17:23] some program -> pulse -> alsa -> output [17:23] so if pulse cuts out, alsa just goes back to waiting for a program to control the sound [17:24] I see. Alsa is the obfusication layer and pulse multiplexes access to it [17:24] alsa is the hardware to software interface [17:24] I have no idea what the hell pulse does :x [17:24] other than igonore my blatant commands to use different default devices. [17:26] all apps use my external sound interface, but flash dead up ignores it. [17:30] MutantTurkey: rightclick in you tube or something flashy andf change flash settings there [17:31] ok i'll try it out when I get back in the grove [17:41] MutantTurkey: CChChgasdfas: command not found [17:42] D: this terminal is freaking me out [17:42] I can't stand using macs. [17:43] MutantTurkey: you're on a mac now ? [17:45] I loaded snow leapord in virtual-box, but its so inefficient that it's just for sampling not using. [17:46] After 5 minutes or so, it just freezes up. [17:46] Since not supported, I have nowhere to complain to anyway. [17:49] its terrible. [17:50] I have this giant old G5 mac tower I have to use at my internship [17:50] it's running a PPC processor so I am basically screwed for everything [21:05] monday--
