zniavrerelog ?08:29
hv?08:30
hvwas that for me?08:30
Ian_Cornehv: driver?08:35
Ian_Corneif you're using anything but the nvidia blob, use gnome-display-properties08:35
hvI don't have gnome-display-properties08:39
hvNow that I think of it, where did it go?08:39
hvthere is the "Displays..." options in the indicator menu on the right.08:41
hvbut that does not run gnome-display-properties anymore08:41
hvactually, apt-file tells me there is no gnome-display-properties in oneiric.08:43
Ian_Cornehmm08:46
Ian_Corneoh right sorry!08:46
Ian_Cornei'm on my 11.04 machine :D08:46

hvoh actually it seems it is compiz's problem, not X11.08:57
hvso after attaching a new display I have to restart compiz.08:57
farciarz84hi, time+calendar disappeared from menu-bar. How to relounch it?09:07

SMJafter upgrading to Oneiric I haven't been able to compile my SDL program. is there something wrong with the headers? it's a single .cpp file with multiple headers, and it's linked with -lSDL in the compilation one-liner10:19

ephanWhat is an alternate iso?17:58
Pici!alternate17:58
ubottuThe Alternate CD is a classic text-mode install CD. It supports a wider range of hardware than the !LiveCD, and can also be used as an upgrade CD. http://www.ubuntu.com/download/ubuntu/alternative-download#alternate - See also !minimal17:58
h00kd'aw, you beat me :)17:58
Pici:)17:58

topylii'm using vanilla gnome. when i unplug my power adapter, my laptop incorrectly reports a critically low battery state for something like 10-20 seconds until it becomes sane again. as a result, gnome-power-manager hibernates the machine19:31
topylii used to be able to turn this off in gconf, but the setting now does nothing. i can't find a suitable dconf key19:31
topylihalp :)19:32
charlie-tcaXubuntu?19:32
Picignome3?19:32
topylibah19:32
topyliPici: yes19:32
topylioneiric, vanilla gnome session19:32
topylithe gconf key worked in 3.0 on debian even, but not anymore in this 3.1.x that we  have19:35
topyliof course it doesn't really help that hibernation doesn't work but the machine just freezes :)19:35
topylia-ha! they've moved a lot of the functionality to gnome-settings-daemon19:42
topyliok, it's it's in org.gnome.settings-daemon.plugins.power, set critical-battery-action to 'nothing'19:45
topylifyi :)19:45
topylithe guilty release: http://ftp.acc.umu.se/pub/GNOME/core/3.1/3.1.4/NEWS19:49
h00kI still have the battery bar on my desktop19:55
topylih00k: i do have it as well, and of course i want to see how low i am. i just disable the auto-die-on-battery action :)20:02

dr_willisHmm. VLC workng for anyone else.. it just pops up a window with no borders or anything here..22:54
AlanBellI think desktopcouch is a bit borked22:56
AlanBellquickly apps won't run because they want authentication22:56
dr_williswell vlc video.avi   works...22:56
BUGabundoPA is DOA22:56
BUGabundotook me a couple of pulseaudio -k to get it working22:57
BUGabundocifs is dead on boot too22:57
dr_willisbut just 'vlc'  displays just the title bar in an odd shadowy way. Oh wait - i am on gnome-shell also. so that might have part to do with it.22:57
BUGabundolightdm messy22:57
BUGabundochromium is back to being slow22:57
dr_willisive not updated in a few hrs... :)22:57
BUGabundomost media players have been broken for me for weeks22:57
Ian_Cornedr_willis: i get that with empathy when it starts at login22:57
Ian_Cornei kill it and then reopen, and it works22:57
BUGabundognome.player, totem, mplayer, none will play from CIFS22:58
h00kSo, my unity is broken right now, so I grabbed the gnome session, my toolbars are *ugly*, any protips for getting the actual theme installed?23:07
jbichah00k: make sure gnome-themes-standard is installed and then use gnome-tweak-tool to set Adwaita as your window theme23:14
h00kjbicha: 'gnome tweak tool' is the only one to do that?23:16
jbichah00k: you could do it manually with dconf-editor (part of dconf-tools) if you like23:16
h00kjbicha: 'tweak' type tools worry me (remember automatix)23:18
h00kbut I'll try it23:19
jbichah00k: gnome-tweak-tool is nothing like those tools, it's just a front-end to dconf and gconf23:20
h00kjbicha: I see that now23:20
jbichait could even be a simpler replacement for ccsm if someone gets around to submitting tweak pages for Unity23:22
h00keven with adwaita, it looks oogly -> http://i.imgur.com/b3ez6.jpg23:22
h00kunless I have to log out/back in23:22
jbichah00k: check Windows> Theme23:23
h00kjbicha: Adwaita23:23
h00ktoggle maximize, lower, menu23:23
jbichathen try logging out23:23
h00kjbicha: much prettier.23:25
edgyHi, http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/kubuntu/daily-live/current/ doesn't contain an iso for amd64!23:46
charlie-tcaedgy: daily-live images have been broken since monday23:51
charlie-tcaHoping to have one tomorrow23:51
edgycharlie-tca: I want to try update-manager -d to upgrade from natty. Are there serious issues?23:51
charlie-tcayes23:52
charlie-tcaI would wait a day, at least23:52
edgycharlie-tca: thanks for hint23:54
charlie-tcaFeatureFreeze today, by tomorrow, maybe things will settle down now23:55
jbichaedgy: there's a brand new Unity that hasn't been fully tested yet & other last-minute changes23:55
edgyjbicha: but I can at least switch to kde or gnome if unity has problems, right? beside unity never worked for me before ;)23:56
charlie-tcaUm, why did unity break Kubuntu and Xubuntu?23:58
charlie-tcaI think there are some other issues, too23:58
jbichaedgy: tomorrow may still be safer as there are some transitions today23:58
h00kthat brand-new unity is broken for me right now ;)23:59
edgycharlie-tca, jbicha: I will appreciate it if you can help me in my new buy. In our local shop we have HP Pavilion dv6-6185ex and HP Pavilion dv6-6096ex. I am not sure whether oneiric would support these and would also want to know which is better23:59
